[0.5.5] SSF Sand & Fire Djinn Varashta - Campaign & Endgame Build Guide

Updated on Sep 28, 2026
Sep 28, 2026

Build Overview

This (HC) SSF Varashta Sorceress leveling & endgame build guide will allow you to complete the campaign safely and quickly, while melting bosses and transition easily into the endgame.

⭐ Please Favorite this guide to stay up to date with all of its changes.

⭐If you have any questions about the build, please feel free to ask while I'm live streaming here.

I highly recommend watching both of these videos, which compliment this guide.

  1. Complete Varashta Campaign Video
  2. Complete Varashta Endgame Video

What this guide will teach you:

  • How to quickly reach level 21 and Ascend to the Disciple of Varashta.
  • All the information about skills, how to use them, and what the best Passive Tree choices are to enhance your build.
  • Important gear suggestions and crafting tips to help you stay alive.
  • How to easily progress your character through the campaign, early endgame, into T15 maps and Pinnacle Bosses.

BUILD OVERVIEW

  • This build utilizes Djinn Minion Command Skills Kelari's Deception, Kelari's Brutality & Ruzhan's Trap from the Discple of Varashta Sorceress, while using Muster and as many different Reviving Minions to decimate our enemies.
  • Defensive wise, we rely on Armour throughout the campaign to get us into maps.
  • Once it maps, we can reach insanely high EHP and Max Physical Hit due to having a ton of Energy Shield, which also translates to additional armour rating through our 4th Ascendancy nodtable Sacred Rituals. This armour can not be broken or removed. If you thought Energy Shield was OP, wait until you try this.

SKILLS & ROTATION

The goal is to reach level 21 and become a Discple of Varashta ASAP. After testing, I believe the best way to approach for me was by using Grenades. If you're not into the Grenade playstyle, no worries. There is a Minion and Elemental Spell variant that you can find below!

We start by using Grenades from Level 1 to 21. Use a combination of Explosive Grenade, Flash Grenade, Gas Grenade to clear areas and defeat bosses. We use Frost Bomb to apply Elemental Exposure. For mobility, we use Pounce with a Talisman on Weapon Swap 2 to dractiscally increase movement speed, while also allowing us to jump across difficult terrain.

After we Ascend to the Disciple of Varashta in Act 2, we use Kelari's Deception (AoE explosion) & Kelari's Brutality (Critical Weakness Daggers) for clear and single target damage. We pick up Ruzhan's Trap (AoE fire tornadoes) after getting our second Ascendancy points for extra clear. We use Pain Offering and Thunderstorm to enhance our single target damage further. We also use Pounce supported Mark for Death bosses to break their armour.

Kelari's Deception deals 50% more damage per consecutive use, up to 300%. This is extremely broken.

IMPORTANT BUFFS

We take advantage of the INCREDIBLY POWERFUL Archon of Undeath, which completely removing our cooldowns for Kelari's Deception during boss fights. It provides the following benefits:

  1. Your Minions deal 25% more Damage (this damage applies to our Kelari's Deception and Minion Command Skills)
  2. 200% More Cooldown Recovery Rate for Command Skills.
  3. 100% More Limit of Temporary Minion Skills.

In the late endgame we annoint Dominion to effectively have no cooldown on Archon of Undeath.

⭐NOTE: You can reforge 3 Concentrated Liquid Emotions at the Reforging Bench to create the next tier higher. This is helpful for obtaining Concentrated Liquid Suffering and Isolations for Dominion

We also take advantage of investing in Puppet Master chance, which provides the following benefits:

  1. You have increased skill speed and reduced Movement Speed penalty of Command Skills
  2. Your Minions deal increased Damage with Command Skills, and have increased Movement and Skill Speed

This is amplified based on how many stacks of Puppet Master we have at any given moment. After investment, we will have 6 stacks at all times, greatly improving our mobility.

DEFENSIVE & SPIRIT SKILLS

For Spirit Skills, we use Attrition in Act 1 / 2 for increasing our single target damage against rares and bosses. After we become a Varashta, we replace Attrition with more Minions, and pickup Convalescence after we get Chaos Inoculation.

HELPFUL CAMPAIGN UNIQUES

  1. Enfolding Dawn is amazing, giving you 100 additional spirit for more Minions, which translates to more Damage with Muster.
  2. Luminous Pace & Wanderlust to keep you movin'.

IMPORTANT LINEAGE SUPPORT GEMS

Lineage Support Gems are powerful, unique support gems that have strong effects. We can take advantage of quite a few of them in our build.

  1. Kurgal's Leash - Super important first pick up for Kelari's Deception, giving our Minions (and command skills) Unholy Might, which gives them 30% extra damage gained as Chaos. This is extremely powerful. Obtained from completing Abyssal Depths & Abyssal Content
  2. Vorana's Siege - Very strong improved version of Magnified Area II, which absolutely melt bosses and pinnacles with Kelari's Deception. Obtained from Medved in Expedition.
  3. Uul-Netol's Embrace - Incredibly powerful in the late-endgame, allowing us to Break Amour in Kelari's Deception based on Chaos Damage, and giving us extra chaos damage. Obtained from killing Xesht.
  4. Xoph's Pyre - Strong in Ruzhan's Trap - Obtained from killing Xesht.
  5. Amanamu's Tithe - Combined with Infernal Legion III and Wolf Pack, providing you with three Abyssal Modifiers. These can be powerful offensive and defensive buffs. Obtained from Amanamu influenced Abyss monsters.
  6. Rakiata's Flow - For obvious reasons, this is also very strong in Ruzhan's Trap. Obtained from the Jade Isles Anomaly map in the endgame.
  7. Brutus' Brain on Pain Offering allows it to not be destroyed, while not impacting it's effect on our damage. Obtained through a random global drop.

IMPORTANT MANA SUSTAIN OPTIONS

🔵 At the Late Endgame Stage with +8 and above levels to Minions, this build gets pretty mana intensive, use the following ways to mitigate this:

  1. Use Essence Harvest on multiple minions to recoup mana when they die. I'm currently using this on Wolfpack.
  2. Use Mana Remnants, you can remove one of your Persistent Minions if you don't have enough Spirit.
  3. Take Mana Cost Efficiency nodes on the Passive Tree. Efficient Casting is a great option.
  4. Make sure your Ultimate Mana Flask has the highest amount recovered possible.

F.A.Q

1️⃣ How do I leave Clearfell with Renly's Skill Gem uncut? The game wont let me.

In order to leave Clearfell encampment without cutting Renly's skill gem you must DISABLE TUTORIALS in your Game Settings.

2️⃣ Why can't I use a Jewelers Orb on my Kelari Skills?

To gain support gem slots on our Djinn skills, you can not use any Jewelers Orbs on them, and will need to level up. The slots are gained at level 36, 65 and 90 respectively.

3️⃣ What Specters do you use?

Vaal Guard Specter that cost 50 (Utzaal) -> Powered Zealot Spectre that cost 55 Spirit -⚡Blue Lightning Balls (Etched Ravine)

4️⃣ How many of each Minion do you use? Do which do we invest more into with extra spirit?

All you need is 1 of each minion. If you have extra spirit, you can use it on whichever you can afford.

5️⃣ Which is better? Ruzhan (The Fire Djinn) or Navira (The Ice Djinn)?

After testing both, it's my personal preference that I prefer Ruzhan. He is smoother to use, with less buttons.

6️⃣ When should I get Chaos Inoculation ? Why am I getting 1-Shot with Chaos Inoculation?

For Softcore, 4-5k ES is fine to swap into Chaos Inoculation. For Hardcore, I prefer 7-8k ES. If you're getting 1-Shot, or are dying frequently while using Chaos Inoculation, it's due to your Mana Flask taking a % Recovery from your Life, or you have taken Heavy Buffer on the passive tree.

WEAPON SETS

This build takes advtanage of two different Weapon Sets to use a Talisman and Sceptre. Not sure how that system works? No worries, I've got you covered. I've broken it down in a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtzgJVSFLB4

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Incredible single target damage, deleting bosses.
  • Smooth map clearing with three buttons.
  • Easily scale damage with +Minion levels and multiple revivable minions.
  • One of the tankiest characters in the endgame.
  • Fun, active playstyle.
  • Plays around Cooldowns early which can be slightly annoying.
  • Technically a Minion build.
  • Build comes online after completing First Ascendancy (Level 21).

Build Variants

Part 1️⃣. The Journey To Disciple Of Varashta -

During Act 1 and Early Act 2 we take advantage of the Sorceresses increased Elemental Damage nodes like Elemental Force, Exploit the Elements & Breath of Fire to use Crossbow & Grenades Skills for a smooth leveling experience.

You will comfortably hit level 15 by the time you reach Geonor, allowing you to take advantage of Gas Grenade and Explosive Grenade along with having the Exploit the Elements notable on your passive tree for a significant damage boost.

IMPORTANT: It is vital to be constantly searching for +Levels to Minion items (Helmet, Sceptre, Amulet) while in Act One and Act Two. You can use this regex to highlight these items as you shop at vendors.

Vendor Regex (make sure to copy quotation marks as well): "minion skills|movement"

💰 Gold: Save up 7000 gold for your Varashta Respec in Act 2 - sell rares and jewelery items and you'll easily have more than this.

🛡️Defences: For defences we will be prioritizing Pure Armour or Armour & Energy Shield hybrid pieces for the entire campaign, then swapping to pure Energy Shield in the endgame.

🚨Your weapon matters so much while playing Grenades. It makes all the difference.

Crafting a good Tense Crossbow will carry you to Act 2 and through the Trials of Sekhemas.

⚒️Crafting Steps:

  1. Find a white or magic base item of a Tense Crossbow
  2. Use an Augment and Transmute on the item to roll the first two modifiers if the item is White.
  3. If the outcome doesn't have atleast one desirable modifier (Attack Speed, +Levels to Projectiles, Flat Physical or Elemental, % Increased Physical Damage), try again.
  4. If it rolled something good, continue to craft on it using a Regal Orb
  5. Fill out the rest of the modifiers using Exalt Orbs
  6. Finish the item off by adding sockets with Artificier Orbs, along with adding Quality with Blacksmiths Whetstones. We use Lesser Storm Rune for extra lightning damage and Shock Chance.

📈 Modifier Priorities:

Crossbow: Flat or Elemental Damage To Attacks, Increased Physical Damage %, Attack Speed

Boots: % Movement Speed > Life, Resistances

Gloves & Rings: Flat Damage (Lightning is the stronges to increase shock chance) > Life, Resistances

Body Armour & Helmet: Life, Armour & Resistances

Amulet: + Level to Projectiles > Life, Resistances, % To Armour & Evasion

Belt: Resistances, Life & Armour, Strength

Clearing Rotation Before Gas Grenade:

  1. Use Contagion
  2. Shoot Explosive Grenade
  3. Flash Grenade for Croud Control & Blind

  1. Gas Grenade
  2. Detonate the gas cloud with Explosive Grenade
  3. Flash Grenade for Croud Control & Blind

Do you tend to use the minion abilities? im dont have enough buttons tbh hehe

CoolGolem•13h ago

You are only using 3 main minion abilities. Kelaris deception, and Brutality, and Ruzhans trap. And Pain Offering as needed.

I am a bit confused about the passive skill trees 90+

In your video you say splintering force is really important - but you seem to have changed your mind? I would like to progress with Dominion, but unsure about not skilling splintering force then?

1
L
limitedcreativity•2d ago

You get the splintering force effect as the prefix on one of your rings in the endgame/late endgame variant. This allows you to save some passive points and spend them somewhere else.

Hi there. You can get Splintering Force on the passive tree for armour break, until you get a Minions Break Armour ring from the Breach Tree in the late endgame.

Question about the liquid emotions - when I put in 3 diluted envy I get out a different diluted emotion - there is no upgrade just a change within the same tier? Am I doing something wrong?

1

Hey there. It works like this: You put 3 of the same Liquid Emotion into the reforging bench, to upgrade it to 1 of the next tier. This does not work for Potent Emotions, however. Best of luck!

Hello! Start to switch around Level 65, when you get a decent Vile Robe :)

Why can't you use omen of putrefication on a shield in order to hit +minions? I mean, it's on poedb. Or is there some kind of another mod that is hindering it?

1
B

Hey there! It's because the Omen of Putrefaction isn't actually able to roll Desecrated modifiers for some reason.

Hello. I am having a blast with this build, and am melting virtually all of the content and carrying people with me along the way. I am not sure, but I have either min/maxxed this even further or nerfed myself with my support gem changes, but either way your build, guide, and instructions are great. I'm sitting at 23.5K ES and breezing through the content. Thank you for taking the time to share this build with the POE2 community !

Update: I'm up to 24.5k ES now and still min maxxing as much as possible. Having a great time and breezing through all content.

Hi there! Glad you're enjoying the build. You can add more of whatever minion you like - it doesn't really matter. Just make sure to use up all your additional spirit.

The only unique I use is Zerphi's Genesis. Mostly for the corrupted blood immunity. I don't even have great +skill items. +3 sceptre, +2 ammy, +2 helm, no plus on offhand. No expensive supports. 269 spirit. I destroy 200% del and pretty much all other content.

I've never had as much fun with a build as this. I've never been bold enough to take on the arbiter and other endgame bosses but now I help others with their boss fights. Map mods to avoid? LOL! I run everything! I don't even look at the map mods. I'm so glad I tried this build at league start instead of something familiar. Now if only I could afford a Rakiata's flow...
