Reliquary Keys are coming to Path of Exile 2 in the Dawn of the Hunt update on April 4th!
Overview
Guide
Basic Keys
Twilight Reliquary Keys are rare global drops that allow you to enter a special area to open a chest containing a guaranteed Unique item! You can place the Twilight Reliquary Key into the Map Device in order to access The Reliquary Vault. Inside you'll find a Twilight Order Chest, a Relic Vault that contains a special foiled Unique item.
Foiled Unique items have a special 'tint' or 'glow' on the nameplate and item art. Aside from this cosmetic difference, foiled Unique items are otherwise identical to regular Uniques in terms of functionality.
The Reliquary Keys have been designed by supporters who've purchased the Liberator of Wraeclast Supporter pack. The design includes selecting a specific Unique item, choosing the foiled style and colour scheme, and writing a special message that's displayed to the player upon opening the chest.
Pinnacle Keys
Twilight Reliquary Keys can be used to find any Unique item except for boss-exclusive Unique drops such as Hand of Wisdom and Action, as long as supporters have created designs for those Uniques. However, for those boss-exclusive Uniques you'll need to use their exclusively dropped version of the Reliquary Key. For example the pinnacle boss of the Breach mechanic has a chance to drop Xesht's Reliquary Key. Using this key to gain access to The Reliquary Vault can result in looting the previously excluded exclusive drops from the Xesht pinnacle encounter.
The pinnacle boss versions of the Reliquary Keys can drop from any tier of a pinnacle boss. However they are more likely to drop at higher tier encounters.
Gambling
Reliquary Keys are a classic gambling item in Path of Exile 1, purchased by players attempting to hit a lucky jackpot Unique. In Path of Exile 2, you'll be able to loot several extremely rare and valuable Unique items from the basic version of the key, such as Astramentis or
Dream Fragments, as long as supporters have designed their entries around those Uniques. This is very likely to be the case, so you can expect the Twilight Reliquary Key to become a similar gambling outlet in Path of Exile 2 too!
As a result, the value of the key is likely to be driven by community perception of the chance to obtain the most valuable items, as it has in Path of Exile 1 where the perceived Mageblood drop chance drives the price of Reliquary Keys.
