PoE 2: Detonator Explained

Detonator is a keyword in Path of Exile 2 that causes Skills to progress to a specific interaction.

What is a Detonator?

Detonator is a Skill Tag that causes the Skill to interact in a special way with other specific Skills.

For example Explosive Grenade has the Detonator Skill Tag, whilst Gas Grenade has a built-in mechanic that causes created Poison Clouds to explode when they are Detonated. An Explosive Grenade that explodes in the radius of a Poison Cloud from Gas Grenade will cause the Poison Cloud(s) to Detonate, dealing immediate Damage but also expiring the Poison Cloud(s) early.

Many Skills that create Ground Surfaces such as Oil or Poison Clouds can be Detonated using Detonator Skills.
