Overview

This guide will take you through the process of making an Amulet for a Blood Mage with high Maximum Life, % Maximum Life Spell Damage, Cast Speed and % Life Gained on Kill. I am currently using this exact Amulet on my Reap Blood Mage Build

This is an incredibly deterministic craft with a great outcome for a relatively low cost

Guide

What You'll Need

  • 2x Bloodstone Amulet, Item Level 75+ with Tier 1 (25-28%) increased Cast Speed
  • 2x Bloodstone Amulet, Item Level 75+ with any low Tier modifier (the lower the better), and preferably a +40 to Maximum Life implicit
  • 2x Orbs of Annulment
  • 2x Perfect Exalted Orb
  • 2x Omen of Recombination
  • 2x Omen of Homogenising Exaltation
  • 2x Omen of Greater Exaltation
  • 1x Omen of the Sovereign
  • 1x Omen of Abyssal Echoes
  • 1x Omen of Dextral Necromancy
  • 1x Preserved Collarbone
  • 50 Black Scythe Artifacts

Blood Mage Amulet Craft

Step 1: Isolating T1 Cast Speed

In this first step, we need to get a Rare Bloodstone Amulet with Tier 1 Cast Speed and no other modifiers. The easiest way to do this is to Recombine a Bloodstone Amulet with any number of modifiers, including Tier 1 Cast Speed, with another Bloodstone Amulet that has at least one other low Tier modifier. By using a second Amulet with a very low Tier modifier, this makes our success chance with the Recombinator extremely high. By also using an Omen of Recombination, the chance of success will be Lucky (the roll happens twice, and the best outcome is chosen), meaning we have about a 75% chance of success

After a successful Recombination, we need to Annul off the low tier modifier. This means that this first step has a 50% chance of success. If you fail, you'll need to attempt it again

Step 2: Getting +3 All Spell Skills and Spell Damage

In this next step, we guarantee +3 to Level of All Spell Skills and Tier 1-2 #% increased Spell Damage

  • Activate an Omen of Homogenising Exaltation
  • Activate an Omen of Greater Exaltation
  • Apply a Perfect Exalted Orb

How Does This Work?

The Omen of Homogenising Exaltation will mean that the next Exalted Orb we use can only add on modifiers that share Tags with existing modifiers on the item. The only modifier we have in this step is Cast Speed which has the Caster and Speed Tag.

Remaining Modifiers with the Speed Tag: None

Remaining Modifiers with the Caster Tag: Level of All Spell Skills, Spell Damage

There are no other modifiers that have either of these tags, so these are guaranteed. By using a Perfect Exalted Orb, we also guarantee a Minimum Modifier Level of 50, which cuts out any Tiers lower than Tier 1 Level of All Spell Skills, and Tier 1-2 #% increased Spell Damage.

The full list of Amulet modifiers can be seen here: poe2db Amulet Modifiers

Step 3: Getting a Life Tagged Modifier

We still want Life and % Life on our Amulet, but can't make use of the same trick we did in the last step with the Omen of Homogenising Exaltation, unless we first somehow get a Life-tagged modifier on our item. We can guarantee this by forcing an Ulaman Desecrated Modifier Suffix.

By using an Omen of The Liege, we can guarantee that our next Desecrated modifiers are all Ulaman modifiers, one of which is Recover 2-3% of Life on Kill, which has the Life tag. There are currently 5 Ulaman modifiers that we can hit, meaning that this step isn't 100% guaranteed.

  • Activate an Omen of the Sovereign
  • Activate an Omen of Dextral Necromancy
  • Apply a Preserved Collarbone to the Item

We now have an Ulaman (Omen of the Sovereign) Suffix modifier (Omen of Dextral Necromancy) and can take the Amulet to The Well of Souls to Reveal it.

But wait! Don't forget to Activate an Omen of Abyssal Echoes first - this allows us to reroll the Reveal options, just in case the first set doesn't give us the Recover 2-3% on Kill we're looking for

  • Activate an Omen of Abyssal Echoes
  • Take the Amulet to the Well of Souls
  • Select 2-3% increased Life Gained on Kill
  • Reroll if this modifier doesn't show up in the first set
  • If it still doesn't show up, I'll explain what to do next

My Reveal Failed - What Now?

You didn't get 2-3% Maximum Life on Kill - my condolences. This happened to me too. This is unlucky, but there is a solution, but it's not cheap.

  • Activate an Omen of Light
  • Use an Orb of Annulment
  • Repeat Step 3 until you Reveal the right modifier

The Omen of Light will make the next Orb of Annulment target the Desecrated Modifier on the item. This is an extremely expensive Omen, but does guarantee we get rid of the right mod and can try again

Step 4: Getting Flat and % increased Maximum Life

We now have an Amulet with Recover 2-3% Life on Kill, Level of All Spell Skills, Cast Speed and Spell Damage. Next, we need to get Flat Life and % increased Maximum Life

  • Activate an Omen of Homogenising Exaltation
  • Activate an Omen of Greater Exaltation
  • Apply a Perfect Exalted Orb

This guarantees Tier 1-2 Maximum Life and #% increased Maximum Life. This works similarly to the method before. Because there are no other Caster-tagged modifiers in the pool, and the only other available tag is Life, the Omen of Homogenising Exaltation is forced to add on modifiers with the Life tag, the only two of which are Maximum Life and #% increased Maximum Life. The Perfect Exalted Orb guarantees Tier 1 or Tier 2 of these modifiers.

Step 5: Finishing the Craft

All that's left to do is apply Quality to the Amulet with Flesh Catalysts, and then apply the Anoint of your choice.

You're done!
