Build Overview

--0.5 RETURN OF THE ANCIENTS--

Arjun's Medal nerf (100% reload on kill > 25%)
Ratha's Assault nerf (5 bolts on dodge w 4 extra loaded > 4 & 3)
Sorcery Ward nerf (35% less > 50%)
Hyrri's Ire nerf (250% eva > 200% && 25% cold dmg > 20%)

the changes equate to a slight nerf to clear speed (if any lol; 25% chance to reload when you kill 10+ things in one shot is still crazy) and about 15% less overall Evasion and Sorcery Ward (extra HP)
keep in mind that ALL Evasion gear was buffed by 15% and Deflection formula is better

overall, the build is still extremely strong and plays identically to the previous patch. enjoy!

  1. 4-5x Stormblast Bolts as prep
    most bosses yap before they can be damaged lol
  2. wait a few seconds then dodge roll to trigger Mirage Archer (detonates Stormblast Bolts)
    waiting ~3s bypasses boss "one shot dmg reduction"
  3. spam Stormblast Bolts until reload
    stand CLOSE TO ENEMY (Close Combat II)
  4. Emergency Reload
  5. continue spamming Stormblast Bolts

Clearing

  1. spam Galvanic Shards
    Herald of Thunder does the rest

------------------Shockburst Rounds VARIANT ("Old")----------------

Single Target

  1. charge Plasma Blast FULLY
    hold while boss is yapping; fire when done
  2. spam Shockburst Rounds until empty mag
    enemy MUST BE SHOCKED
  3. Emergency Reload
  4. continue spamming Shockburst Rounds
    if shock expires, reapply w Plasma Blast

Clearing

  1. spam Galvanic Shards
    Herald of Thunder does the rest

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • simple (1-button clear & single target)
  • fast (high attack & move speed, plus reduced move penalty while attacking)
  • fun (RUN N GUN BABY! PEWPEWPEWPEW!)
  • VERY tanky w Hyrri's Ire x Sorcery Ward x Ceremonial Ablution
  • crossbow reloads can be annoying (Lineage gems on Galvanic Shards solve this)
  • mobile bosses can mess up single target slightly
  • a bit squishy until decently high Evasion rating (30% of Evasion = HP, due to Sorcery Ward x Ceremonial Ablution)

Build Variants

about 10 div budget - your crossbow should be 700+ DPS with at least "+3 Attack Skills" and you should have both Hyrri's Ire and Alpha's Howl with as much Evasion as possible

start saving up for Rigwald's Ferocity and Rakiata's Flow while marginally upgrading anything else you can (more +phys/+lightning on rings goes a LONG way)

--WEAPON SET CONFIGURATION--

to configure weapon sets, you must do ALL of the following:

  1. in your Inventory, right click the "I" Roman Numeral above your weapon to LOCK IT TO BOTH SETS
    this saves you from needing to acquire an entirely new weapon
    once done correctly, you will see a silhouette of your weapon next to itself
  2. for certain skill gems, you must allocate them to a specific set - do this by clicking the ">" for a given skill and, in the new menu that appears, unchecking either "I" or "II", depending on which set it should ONLY be on.

importantly, after doing all of this, you will have a SEPARATE KEYBIND FOR Stormblast Bolts
you will see the "II" in the top-right of the correct Crossbow Shot's icon
I like to put this on middle-mouse but you can put it wherever's comfortable

the details for which gems go in which set are as follows:

BOTH Sets

  • Eternal Rage
  • Berserk (WITH Vitality II)

Weapon Set I

ensure the following skills are ONLY on Set I (uncheck "II"):

  • Galvanic Shards
  • Herald of Thunder
  • Wind Dancer

Weapon Set II

ensure the following skills are ONLY on Set II (uncheck "I"):

  • Stormblast Bolts
  • Mirage Archer

Desolate Crossbow is the best basetype but just use anything with decent dmg & "+lvl skills"
700+ DPS (phys/lightning) with at least "+5 skills" ("Attack" or "Projectile" both work)

try to get one or two rolls of "+Life Regen per second" (amulet is best slot for it) to offset Berserk

replace Lightning Attunement in Stormblast Bolts
