PoE 2 Build

[0.5] Flicker & Falling Thunder Martial Artist

Updated on Aug 13, 2026
Aug 13, 2026

Build Overview

Welcome to my Martial Artist Flicker Strike breakdown — a fast, aggressive Monk setup built around speed, power charges, Falling Thunder, and the beautiful chaos that is Flicker Strike.

The whole idea is simple: generate power charges, spend them to Flicker, delete packs, rebuild charges, and keep the loop going. The use Falling Thunder for any screen wind clears...RIP FPS.

That’s where Martial Artist gets interesting. With the right setup, we can generate charges, and turn Falling Thunder into a massive damage payoff while Flicker Strike becomes the speed engine that keeps us moving.

This Flicker Strike + Falling Thunder Monk is built around chaining Herald of Ice explosions through packs using Concussive Runes.

The build invests heavily into stun, allowing us to consistently proc Concussive Runes. From there, stacking additional Runic Ward gives us more potential Herald chains and dramatically improves clear in dense maps.

For 200% Delirious content, I favour scaling Lightning Damage over heavily investing into Cold. Falling Thunder and our lightning damage provide the power needed to deal with tougher enemies while still enabling the Herald chaining setup.

How It Works

  • Flicker Strike provides extremely fast mapping and mobility.
  • Falling Thunder delivers our large Lightning hits and helps generate heavy stun.
  • Herald of Thunder hits the enemy.
  • Stun consistently activates our Concussive Runes.
  • Concussive Runes enable the Herald chaining interaction.
  • More Runic Ward allows the Herald explosions to chain further.
  • Herald of Ice provides the pack explosions.
  • Polcirkeln allows enemies chilled by our hits to be shattered as though Frozen (not needed if damage is high, tested with Stun II and no Polcirkeln)

Once the first Herald explosion goes off, it can trigger a chain reaction through the rest of the pack.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Fast Clear Speed
  • Large AOE
  • Constant combo upkeep
  • Scales Really Well
  • Relies on charge regen
  • Flicker can put you in a sticky situation
  • Might have to get a few steps in collecting loot after

Build Variants

Herald Chaining Variant

This variant focuses on Flicker Strike and Falling Thunder with heavy stun investment to reliably proc Concussive Runes. Stacking Runic Ward allows the Herald explosions to chain further, while Polcirkeln enables chilled enemies to shatter for consistent Herald of Ice explosions. For 200% Delirious mapping, the setup leans more heavily into Lightning Damage for better overall damage and clear.

How it Plays

Mapping

1. Hit a few enemies with Whirling Assault

2. Living Lightning II paired with Culmination II will get you power charges

3. Activate Charged Staff

4. Press Flicker Strike the flick around the map

5. Use Falling Thunder for huge aoe clears

6. Herald of Thunder will proc concussive runes whjich will proc Herald of Ice causing huge screen clears.

7. Use Mantra of Destruction as and when needed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bossing

1. Hit the boss with Whirling Assault to generate combo for power charges

2. Activate Charged Staff

3. Hit the boss again to generate power charges.

4. Flicker Strike that thing or use Falling Thunder for huge damage!

How it Works

Generating Power Charges - Mantra of Destruction or HoC

Every time you hit, you build combo in whatever skill you have Ailith's Chimes and Culmination II socketed (melee for Culmination II). Once you expend this combo, you gain power charges.

We use Mantra of Destruction to generate charges.

In order for it to work, it needs to be added in this order:

  1. Socket Delayed Gratification into Mantra of Destruction
  2. Socket Ailith's Chimes
  3. Socket Charge Profusion II

This will allow you to use Mantra of Destruction when it reaches 20 combo to generate max charges instantly, Delayed Gratification allows you to generate power charges again after 10s. We use Whirling Assault as this generates combo insanely fast! We can also socket Ailith's Chimes into Whirling Assault to gain charges.

Also, don't forget to use Reaper's Invocation with Profane Ritual for more charge regen.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Generating Power Charges - Reapers Invocation or CoC

Reaper's Invocation works off melee hits, so every time you use Flicker Strike, you will have enough energy to use Reaper's Invocation, this will activate Profane Ritual and get power charges from the dead corpses. This allows you to rinse and repeat Flicker Strike.

In Reaper's Invocation we want to shorten the duration as much as possible, this is why we take Compressed Duration II, Overabundance I and Swift Affliction III, then we socket Charge Profusion II for power charges.

Cast on Critical is the same as Reaper's Invocation but it is based on crit. Every time you crit, you generate energy, this will then get Cast on Critical to proc automatically and cast Profane Ritual to consume the corpses to gain power charges.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Infinite Falling Thunder!

So, there is a few ways we can do this.

  1. Generate combo and use Mantra of Destruction with Ailith's Chimes & Delayed Gratification
  2. Using Way of the Stonefist to change gloves to give 10% chance to gain power charge on crit, this paired with Hollow Focus Technique bells, which always critical hit, should give us power charges.
  3. Cast on Critical & Profane Ritual will consume corpses and generate power charges
  4. Reaper's Invocation & Profane Ritual will do the same, except you have to manually press Reaper's Invocation after you melee with Whirling Assault
  5. Killing Palm on Hollow Focus Technique bells, as they can always be culled.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Keeping up Energy Shield (theory)

We have placed Whirling Assault on weapon set 1 - this is paired with a lot of energy shield recharge and faster start of recharge. Furthermore, the Martial Artist ascendancy Martial Adept reduces delay when expending a combo, this means you should get your energy shield back very quickly.
Also, Martial Master means we can retain the combo for Falling Thunder and Mantra of Destruction despite them being on different weapon sets. Also, Herald of Thunder should generate combo too.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Energy Shield Instantly....I hope XD

Take damage

Build Combo with Whirling Assault / Herald of Thunder hits

Spend Combo with Mantra of Destruction

Martial Adept removes the delay

Energy Shield starts recharging almost immediately
