This build is built around the armour break mechanic. All enemies in the game have a certain amount of armour, some more than others. Armour reduces the physical damage they take from hits, same way as for players. To armour break, you must fully remove all armour from the target. By default, broken armour lasts for 12 seconds, and refreshes each time more armour is broken
This is where
Resonating Shield comes in. It inherently breaks a static amount of armour each time it hits an enemy. The higher level
Resonating Shield the more armour it breaks per hit. With passives such as
Breakage on the passive tree, we can increase the amount of armour broken, to the point where most enemies are fully armour broken after only one hit
Resonating Shield does bad damage without a very high armour shield, as it scales based on the local armour of the shield, and not your current weapon. It also slows you down significantly since it's a channeling skill, same as
Raise Shield. To circumvent both of these issues, we use Armour Explosion and a
Feathered Fortress. Armour Explosion is triggered when you fully break the armour of an enemy with the supported skill, doing a area of effect (AoE) explosion. Armour Explosion mainly scales from your main-hand weapon, so you don't need a high armour shield for it to be effective. This means we can use the
Feathered Fortress shield, allowing full movement while using
Resonating Shield
Unfortunately Armour Explosion is still not enough to kill most monsters, but it is enough to prime stun. That's the purpose behind
Boneshatter. It does an incredible amount of damage if it hits a prime for stunned enemy, as well has AoE explosions that can both prime and activate more
Boneshatter explosions. With nearly all the AoE scaling nodes on Set 1 such as
Authority,
Impact Area,
Radial Force,
Primal Growth the entire screen can be hit by just one
Boneshatter
Boneshatter does a significant amount of melee attack damage if hitting primed targets, which means it can activate
Fire Spell on Hit.
Fire Spell on Hit socketed with
Detonate Dead is more for added fun than actual gameplay impact. Although the overlapping cascade of
Detonate Dead can clear stragglers if
Boneshatter wasn't enough
For single-target fights where
Boneshatter is not enough, we use
Sunder instead.
Sunder has this cool interactive with armour break where if it hit's an enemy with fully broken armour, it will automatically critically strike. This means we don't need any critical strike chance to benefit from all the increased critical strike bonus on the tree such as
Barbaric Strength. AoE isn't required for single-target, as such we can pick all the crit nodes on Set 2 instead.
Since
Sunder is such a slow skill due to it's inherit added attack time, it's better to focus on making that one big hit as strong as possible.
Infernal Cry is especially powerful as it can more than double the base damage with up to 150% damage as extra fire. Since it now does a large portion of fire damage, it can start to ignite targets. Ignite is especially effective when it comes from large damage hits, but since our physical damage can't ignite we take
Avatar of Fire to allow for more ignite damage.
Flammability and
Solar Orb with Fire Exposure also scale the ignite. So if the initial hit of
Sunder is not enough to kill an enemy, the resulting ignite will instead
SMOOTH GAMEPLAY!
You can cancel the end animation of
Boneshatter by using
Resonating Shield right afterward, instead of rolling (This also applies to the end animation of
Shield Charge)

Saitha's Spear combined with
Manifest Weapon allows for double damage ingites. Will absolutely melt bosses, especially with Eternal Flame on
Sunder. Will have to replace 2 points from
Smith's Masterwork to get
Manifest Weapon, and it won't do anything beside increase single-target damage. So swap your 2-hander for
Saitha's Spear only on hard bosses when you don't need
Boneshatter.
Saitha's Spear also requires 2 sockets via corruption and
Soul Core of Atmohua's to lower the dex requirement to 100. (17.04.2025)
