Build Overview

0.5 UPDATE READ FIRST

GGG made Archmage add base mana cost which is then scaled by all the supports and + cost in the build (such as Overzealous and Raw Mana). As such, we are switching to


Fast paced Demon Form Reap build without using any cast-on or meta skills.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Fast even without blink/tempo
  • Relatively normal gearing
  • Easy leveling with EDC or plants through campaign and early maps
  • Easily start with less than 5d
  • Low AOE requires Trampletoe and AOE from jewels
  • Low ES recharge
  • Melee Range

Build Variants

I recommend level 85 so that you don't have to craft your staff multiple times. Just craft a good lv18-19 Reaping Staff and be done.

That being said, there's nothing particularly stopping you from switching over earlier, just remember that you can't just use an Uncut Skill Gem to upgrade the level of Reap.

Reaping Staff is required in this build as Reap is specifically attached to the staff.

Coward's Legacy enables the low life tech which pairs well with Final Barrage, Pain Attunement, and Execute III. It is also VERY cheap even on league start.

Trampletoe is very much required for this build. Otherwise your clear capability will be significantly reduced.

Amethyst Ring in 0.5 rings can now roll with Pure Spell% on prefix (only from Genesis tree) Otherwise life and mana are good options as well. Lightning% is a good mod too. Suffixes should be resists and cast speed. Life also scales how much spirit we get from Beidat's Will.

Solar Amulet is not strictly required. You can use other bases as well but getting more spirit is never a bad thing. Main thing is obviously to get cast speed and spell levels. Absent Amulet can roll with Archmage giving you "free" 100 spirit at the cost of both a prefix and suffix.

Sapphire should all have double crit as well as AOE. The fourth line is preference. Spell damage or magnitude of ailments are good options.

Getting life on kill on one of your jewels is extremely comfortable for mapping. I opted to get it on my Heart of the Well as the crit lines on Heart of the Well are worse than on Sapphire, however, the life per kill is the same. Note that life per kill is not strictly required, however, without it you will need to flask periodically.

Ancestral TiaraVile RobeSirenscale Gloves are the highest ES bases. You're just looking for good ES rolls / life and mana rolls while covering your overall resists.

Super duper extra simple setup.

The core is:

Reap from your Reaping Staff. - Assuming you only have a level 19 Reap on league start which means 4 supports. Seen here are the non-lineage supports. See other build variants once you start scaling with lineage gems.

Pinpoint Critical brings up the critical consistency on this. Depending on your overall crit chance it might be best to remove this and use another support, then take Careful Assassin in the tree.

Archmage currently works for Reap and is a nice scalar to damage + Trampletoe.

Mana Remnants offsets the Archmage costs.

Cannibalism I (spirit allowing) gives you the mapping consistency which removes the need to life flask as you map. Note: Flasking on bosses is normal - pay attention to your health for Demon Form.

Very low priority is Clarity I.

Sigil of Power from Chiming Staff just as a buff. Used for bossing.

If you have enough spirit you can run Skeletal Cleric and convert them with Soul Offering for extra spell damage on bossing.

Tree is set to level 90. I recommend a Time-Lost Sapphire in place near Heartbreaking and Heartstopping but this is not a requirement.
