Build Overview

Hey guys, KallTorak here! I'm an Off-Meta creator with an affinity for silly goose time builds! This is my Bloom Bombing Abyssal Lich guide for leveling end game.

What is Bloom Bombing?

The Hollow Mask got reworked in patch 0.5 to give a new skill Wildwood's Gifts. This spawns little flower remnants automatically and very quickly. When you combine it with Explosive Transmutation you get exploding flowers every time you pick one up. That is essentially the core theme of the build trying to make exploding flowers work!

I was considering doing this build on chayula, stormweaver, or bloodmage, since all 3 ascendnacies benefit remnants. However even with their remnant advantages they don't cover the biggest weakness of these flowers, which is their area of effect. On their base level the flowers are very small and when they explode they dont cover much area even with Spell Cascade.

Abyssal Lich has the ability to scale the area of effect to insane levels with Umbral Well & Skeletal Arsonist. By staking as much spirit as possible with Against the Darkness, Morior Invictus, Grip of Kulemak, and other sources we are able to get over 20 Skeletal Arsonist making the explosions of Explosive Transmutation cover half the screen! Since we have over 600 spirit and Explosive Transmutation is a spell we are able to add on Threaded Light for lots of spell damage based off our spirit total.

From here Explosive Transmutation still isn't enough to clear on it's own, so thats where Adonia's Ego comes in. This is an insane wand I'ev used to scale some pretty weird builds in the past. There was a lot of major QoL to Adonia's Ego builds this patch that fixed a lot of the gear swap problems from before. When consuming power charges Pinnacle of Power gives us an absurd amount of increased damage. This wand is the best way to scale the damage of Explosive Transmutation so it can clear enemies when mapping.

For bossing though Explosive Transmutation lacks the damage to clear them efficiently. This is where Frost Wall comes in! Frost Wall not only scales off of Umbral Well making it clear the entire screen but it also scales off of Pinnacle of Power making it one shot all bosses in the game! The annoying part of Frost Wall has always been automating exploding the walls since you need to damage them to detonate them. Explosive Transmutation with Wildwood's Gifts fully automates the detonation of Frost Wall! All you gotta do is place the walls then pickup a flower, and BOOM entire screen is cleared.

There are a lot of other cool techniques going on where Explosive Transmutation is generating is loads of extra remnants! Because of Pinnacle of Power our damage will generate fire, lightning, and cold remntants via Siphon Elements! We also get loads of Mana Remnants as well as the new Remnants of Kalguur which will fully automate the ward cost of Explosive Transmutation.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Screen wide aoe because of Umbral Well
  • Automates Frost Wall detonations with Explosive Transmutation combined with Wildwood's Gifts.
  • The Hollow Mask makes our remnant gems cheaper to use as well as the support gems inside them have reduced cost.
  • Spirit stacking with Threaded Light leads to very easy damage scaling. All bosses one shottable without the double buff from Pinnacle of Power.
  • Adonia's Ego gear swap friction solved with two adonia. Shoutout to Anime Princess for the tech.
  • Glass canon have yet to solve defenses. Can get tankier if you want to ditch some aoe. Overall though one shotting the entire screen makes you reasonably safe.
  • High investment build. Even the budget version will run you a few hundred divine. Not league start friendly.
  • Wildwood's Gifts spawn rate can't be scaled and the rng of where flowers spawn can be awkward at times.
  • Fishing for double buff Pinnacle of Power with Heightened Charges still annoying.
  • Not league start friendly and not a leveling build.

Build Variants

My current budget of the setup below is 500 divine.

This builds damage comes from two primary sources: Spirit stacking with Threaded Light and Adonia's Ego. Spirit stacking with Threaded Light is the base of our damage. Get your spirit as high as possible before starting this build. At minimum over 500 or you won't have the base damage to scale Adonia's Ego.

From here Adonia's Ego is your most important thing and if you aren't using it's buff Pinnacle of Power your damage will be nothing. Pinnacle of power increases our elemental damage massively per power charge and each power charge matters more than the previous. The difference between having 8 power charges and 10 is a night and day difference in terms of your scaling. Any additional power charges past 10 makes the build even better. You can get power charges from the following sources:

  • Baseline Cap of 3
  • Power Treads +1
  • Helm Enchant +1
  • Adonia's Ego +1
  • Passive Tree +4 - Overflowing Power, The Power Within, & Lust for Power.
  • Legacy of Adonia's Ego +1.
  • Grip of Kulemak with Kalandra's Touch +2.

With the above you can push yourself to 13 power charges max. For the budget setup itll be hard to get Legacy of Adonia's Ego. Powertread is up to you on whether you want to deal with the slow movespeed without Mageblood. Get as many power charges as you can though don't stop until you hit 13 unless you lose lots of spirit to do so.

Note - An Undying Hate can also lead to you getting +1 max power charges for +14 total and I was trying to make this work. However this spread our passive tree a little too thin for what felt like an overall loss. I do not recommend trying to push for 14 charges.

The Hollow Mask - A lot going on here when it comes to min maxing it. The reservation % is nice try and get one that is at least 97%. Any lower I wouldn't use. Enchants are where things are interesting here. There are three very good enchants and we ideally want two of them. Here they are in order of prio:

  • # to Spirit - Spirit is more damage and more aoe. I personally prio spirit over anything else and I would make sure to get a helm with a spirit enchant.
  • +1 Maximum Power Charge - Power Charges is where our damage comes from and we want this max capped. Your ideal The Hollow Mask has two sockets with +1 power charge and # to spirit but good luck with that.
  • + Level To Minions - Skeletal Arsonist gets reduced spirit reservation at specific breakpoints. Depending on your setup if +1 minion levels gets you to one of these breakpoints this enchant has a place but its not ideal.

In sockets if you are using Mageblood you will rune Idol of Ralakesh & Bear Idol. If you are running the cheaper Darkness Enthroned for helmet then you will put those runes into the belt and you can put Perfect Mind Rune instead.

Adonia's Ego - for the budget setup you really only need to get one Adonia's Ego but for the more expensive setup you will use two of these. If you only plan on using the budget version with a single Adonia's Ego get the following:

  • +1 max power charge
  • 2 sockets Hedgewitch Assandra's Rune of Wisdom & Perfect Vision Rune
  • +3 spell levels and 30% quality

As mentioned for belt slots Darkness Enthroned for helmet is the budget options. For the more expensive versions you can run Headhunter or Mageblood. I prefer Mageblood to help with res, crit, and speed.

Threaded Light - 15% spell damage per 10 spirit.

Painter's Servant - Get one with 10% gain of all 3 elemental types. This item is not required it just makes you do a lot more damage. You can get rare gloves with defensive stats if you'd prefer to be tankier.

Grip of Kulemak - This item is very important for maximizing your spirit. These are the 4 perfect mods you want:

  • % increased spirit
  • +1 maximum power charge
  • Spirit reservation efficiency
  • critical hit chance

You probably aren't finding one with all 4 of these. You must get 10% increased spirit and +1 max power charge. You can try farming your own but good luck. It drops from Kulemak target Amanamu, Amanamu, Kurgal, and return the ring to fight him at full power.

Absent Amulet - Get one with Archmage to scale our damage. Also target the following stats:

  • +3 to 6 spell skills
  • +50 spirit
  • Critical Hit Chance or Crit Damage Bonus
  • Maximum Mana
  • Annoint - The Soul Meridian or Lord of Horrors depending on your Megalomaniac

Morior Invictus (spirit) - Get a Morior Invictus with the following:

  • Spirit per socket
  • All res per socket
  • Reduced damage from crits per socket
  • 5 sockets

Inside put Carved Majesty and stack idols in every slot you can to max your spirit.

Powertread - Imo you don't have to use Powertread in the budget setup because you are so slow without Mageblood. I didnt swap to Powertread until I had the movespeed. If you don't want to be slow use rare boots instead with # to spirit abyss mod.

Megalomaniac - Try and get The Soul Meridian or Lord of Horrors at minimum because pathing to either is horrible. You then want any of the following: Barrier of Venarius, Draiocht Cleansing, Against the Elements, Rhythm of Fire, Rhythm of Ice, Left Ventricle, Heart Tissue, or Lone Warrior. All of these are notables within the radius of our Against the Darkness. Having these notables on your Megalomaniac will save you passives while still netting you the bonus spirit.

Against the Darkness - Get one with at min 12 spirit for notables. Ideally 14 if you do not have a gain damage notable to pair with it. The ideal ATD is spirit + gain damage but those are very expensive.

Undying Hate (amanamu) - Amanamu for Sacrifice of Flesh.

Prism of Belief - Get one for Skeletal Arsonist if they are cheap if you need it to hit a breakpoint to reduce its spirit cost. Your goal is level 26 gem level. If the Prism of Belief puts you at or over 26 add it to your build.

Sapphire - You want two of these ideally but you NEED one for Crystalline Phylactery. Get a sapphire with increased suffixes %, crit hit chance for spells, crit spell damage bonus, crit damage bonus, and area of effect. If you get second jewel for your gloves gets one with the exact same stats. Look at my poe ninja for the exact jewels I'm using.

Rite of Passage - Get one for cat if you get one

Depending on your setup and budget you make lack resistances. I am rounding out my resistances via enchants on jewels. From Nothing and Grand Spectrum are corrupted with resistance enchants to help me hit 75% all res. I am also using Mageblood now. If you are on a cheaper setup you might want to drop Powertread or Painter's Servant for a rare item with resistances.

How it Plays

You can fully generate all your powercharges at the start of every map. Powered by Verisium consumes ward to give us remnants. Firestorm will consume those to give us power charges. So rotate between Powered by Verisium and Firestorm until you reach maximum power charges. When you are out of ward use Animus Exchange to get your ward refilled. You can spam your life flask to heal yourself since we get infinite charges from Wildwood's Gifts.

When you are at maximum power charges make sure you never use Pinnacle of Power in weapon set 2. Always cast in weapon set 1. If you cast it in weapon set 2 you won't get the buff when using ice wall. What I like to do is when I hit max power charges I will cast ice wall this forces me to weapon set 1. Then I will cast my Pinnacle of Power that is in weapon set 1.

Pinnacle of Power last a few minutes. From here you will only need to cast Ice Walls while you have the buff or run around triggering Explosive Transmutation. Mid map you will need to rebuff Pinnacle of Power. You are exposed with power charges because of Adonia's Ego so never rebuff never enemies. If you have to rebuff do it right after combat so you have extra power charges. This will let you instantly get to max charges for an instant rebuff.

Keep in mind Heightened Charges lets you double the effect of your buff. This makes the power charges double so the damage is INSANE when you have the double buff. You can fish for this before pinnacle bosses to make sure you one shot them.
