Blood Mage is one of the strongest Spellcaster Variants. This build takes that old and proven Cast on Crit Setup and puts it into a new Shell for a fresh and fun gameplay loop.
Utilizing several niche Item and Skill Interactions to create a simple, yet extremely powerful Build.
Capable of one-shotting entire screens of enemies and melting bosses in seconds.
Even the major Pinnacle Bosses of the Endgame cannot withstand the sheer onslaught of Comets and Toads. Toads?!? Yep, Toads, and oh boy do they pack a punch!
0.5 Return of the Ancients brought us several new toys for curse casting and also reworked one of the existing Ones. Turning it into the most unique Lineage Gem the game has. With its own secret broken interaction that I have seen nobody else use.
What sets this Variant of CoC Blood Mage aside from others is the utilization of Curses.
This Caster is built around the new
Liminal Coil and its innate Skill
Coiling Bolts.
Liminal Coil sets Curse Effect to 0, but grants Damage as Extra Physical and Chaos for each Curse on the target. With 6 Curses, this Wand is only slightly weaker than Mirror Tier Wands for a Fraction of the Cost. It also comes with
Coiling Bolts a new Spell that can clear an entire Screen of Enemies while costing 0 Mana.
For Single Target, this Variant utilizes Doedre's Undoing on top of the classic
Cast on Critical
Comet setup, for additional Damage. Doedre's Undoing turns the Supported Curse into Cursed Ground that summons Toads, which will seek out Enemies and Trigger it's own Active Skill, dealing massive Chaos Damage in an area around the Target.
The
Blood Mage Ascendancy is perfect for the Playstyle, more than doubling the Critical Hit chance of
Coiling Bolts and Doedre's Undoing, as well as granting access to Life Leech and Life Recovery with
Life Remnants. And also adding a good amount of Survivability with
Grasping Wounds and
Crimson Power.
This Build also utilizes the established Setup of
Eldritch Battery +
Mind Over Matter + Lifetap to invert the Roles of Life and Mana. Using Life as the Caster Resource and Mana as a Defensive Layer.
It then somewhat Double Dips on the resources with a cultivated
Rathpith Globe. Replacing the cost an additional 6% of maximum Life Line with 6% increased Spell Damage per 100 Maximum Mana.
Altogether, this Build combines the old proven Cast on Crit Comet Core with the new Curse Toys for a smooth and fun Gameplay Experience.
