IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS

This build is not recommended for beginners. There are some relatively expensive items that are required to even get started and there are some thresholds that you need to hit (specifically % Chance to not Consume Corpses) or else the build will do no damage. In my experience, anything below 95% chance to not destroy corpses feels REALLY BAD!

ALSO! GGG is aware of the issue where certain monsters and bosses cause the Bitter Dead balls to float in front of them and not do damage immediately. They are currently working on a fix!

Overview

This build is centered the new Kalguuran Skill, Bitter Dead. This is an extremely flashy and satisfying skill that uses your minions as corpses to freeze everything on the screen and leads to an extremely relaxed and surprisingly tanky playstyle. It is the epitome of a 1 button build.

Why Gemling?

Gemling was buffed in Patch 0.5 and Advanced Thaumaturgy allows us to get alternate effects for gem quality. Bitter Dead's alternate quality allows us to get more chances to not consume corpses when using the skill and all-in-all we can get over 100% chance to not consume corpses when using it, which allows us to use it as a single-target bossing option.

Weapons

Enezun's Charge with 30% Chance to not Destroy Corpses (Vaaled). Socket with Hedgewitch Assandra's Rune of Wisdom.

Shrine Sceptre (any element) with the following stats (priority order). Socket with Rabbit Idol and Warding Rune of Equinox.

High Spirit (my character currently uses a total of 424 Spirit. So get as much Spirit on the Sceptre as possible!)

Helmet

Exceptional ES Helmet with 2 sockets with as much ES and Res as possible. Use Raven-Touched Shard to annoint Zarokh's Gift and also use Idol of Eeshta.

The stats for the Jewel in the Zarokh's Gift are found in the Jewels section.

***DISCLAIMER*** If you have a corrupted helmet, you can socket the Raven-Touched Shard but you will not be able to annoint anything on it! Make sure you have an exceptional helmet with 2 sockets!

Gloves

Maligaro's Virtuosity (Runeforged) is required. Use Cadigan's Epiphany to add a Jewel Socket and use a Rare Jewel (stats in the Jewels section).

Chest Armour

Morior Invictus with 5 Sockets with the following stats:

All Resistance
Spirit (Needs to be 14 Spirit per augment)
Mana

Warding Rune of Heart is required. The rest of the runes can be up to you. Perfect Mind Rune is preferred.

Boots

As much Energy Shield as possible and Resistances as possible. As high Movement Speed as possible. Spirit is required through the use of a Mystic Alloy.

Socket with Kurgal's Gaze

Amulet

A Corona Amulet with % of Damage is Taken From Mana Before Life (as high as possible to achieve 100% damage taken from mana before life) IS REQUIRED. Other stats should be:

+3 to Spell Levels
Spirit
+ Mana
%Cast Speed

Annoint Paragon

For the Socket, put in Idol of Ralakesh.

Get as MUCH AS YOU CAN! T1 ALL STATS. This build is EXTREMELY Mana hungry. You need as much mana efficiency and regen as possible.

Belt

Darkness Enthroned (body armour) with Fox Idol and The Greatwolf's Rune of Willpower.

100% Increased Effect of Socketed Augment Items is almost mandatory to get enough % Damage Taken from Mana before Life.

Megalomaniac with Mental Perseverance

For the 2x Rare Jewels, You NEED to have the following:

20% Quality for Mana Modifiers (Refined Neural Catalysts)
7% Damage is Taken from Mana before Life
% Increased Effect of Suffixes (as much as it takes to get #2 to 7%)
