This (HC) SSF Tactician Mercenary leveling build guide will allow you to complete the campaign safely and quickly, while melting bosses and transition easily into the endgame.
What this guide will teach you:
- When and how to craft the best weapons that will carry you through the game.
- All the information about skills, how to use them, and what the best Passive Tree choices are to enhance your build.
- Important gear suggestions to help you stay alive.
- How to easily progress your character through the early endgame into T15 maps and Pinnacle Bosses.
BUILD OVERVIEW
- This build utilizes Pin from the Tactician Mercenary ascendancy to hold enemies in place, and stop them from attacking. This is achieved through the “Right Where We Want Them” ascendancy node. This notable is incredibly powerful, and also enables you to inflict Pin buildup with any projectile attack.
- While your enemies are stuck in place, blow them to pieces with an arsenal of different grenades. This build has insane AoE clearing damage as well as extremely solid single target damage.
- Defensive wise, the Tactician's Pin is the best form of croud-control in the game. On top of that we will be taking advantage of Armour and its application to Elemental Damage, Evasion, Deflect and Runic Ward to stay alive.
SKILLS & ROTATION
Use a combination of
Explosive Grenade,
Flash Grenade,
Gas Grenade,
Oil Grenade and
Cluster Grenade to build Pin on enemies and blow them to smitherines.
Use
Explosive Shot to detonate your
Explosive Grenade immediately when you don't want to wait for them to blow up.
While clearing, your general skill rotation is to rotate between
Gas Grenade,
Oil Grenade,
Flash Grenade and
Explosive Grenade to deal damage - while using
Cluster Grenade for areas with high monster density. This synergizes perfectly with the
Demolitionist notable on the Passive Tree, adding alot of extra fire damage.
Early on, we utilize
Frost Bomb to apply Elemental Exposure, before replacing this with
Oil Grenade in Act 3.
For mobility, we use
Pounce with a Talisman on Weapon Swap 2 to dractiscally increase movement speed, while also allowing us to jump across difficult terrain.
DEFENSIVE & SPIRIT SKILLS
For Spirit Skills, we use a combination of
Attrition for increased Single Target / Boss DPS and
Scavenged Plating to improve your Armour Rating. This build constantly breaks armour due to the
Eroding Chains Passive Tree Notable, which allows you to break 50% armour when you pin an enemy. Which you will be doing ALOT OF. This also synergizes really well with
The Molten One's Gift, which increases the Armour Break debuff to 35%, and has this debuff apply to increased Fire damage taken as well.
Once we are in the endgame and have a decent
Solar Amulet with Spirit on it, we then swap to a Rage setup, taking advantage of
Eternal Rage,
Berserk to increase our Attack Damage, while also increasing our Fire Damage with
Ichlotl's Inferno.

30% increased Armour, Evasion and Energy Shield
WEAPON SETS
