Character Profile

Chaos is an S-Class Lakshana character with a Condensate Arc - not to be confused with the “Chaos” element. He's the second limited banner character in version 1.1, and fourth banner character overall.

He summons a thick fog and shapes it into a hound that fights alongside him. He also leaves the hound behind as a teleport waypoint. His Karma mechanic boosts the damage dealt to marked enemies.

He's an on-field main carry who causes a massive nuke at the end of the Remora reaction duration, turning Remora into a source of damage that scales with Remora duration. He also needs his Ultimate to be up to reach highest potential, so he prefers a team that triggers Charged often.

Therefore, he prefers to pair with Cosmos, Anima, and other Lakshana characters for a Charged team.

Best Teams

Chaos’ passive launches a massive hit when Remora duration ends, scaling up the longer Remora has lasted. This instantly makes Hathor his best ally in any team because her passive extends Remora duration from 5 seconds to 12 seconds. Skia, on the other hand, shortens Remora duration, so he kills this synergy.

The other component of Chaos kit requires Ultimate uptime, which prefers Charged teams.

Chaos Charged Team

Chaos, Hathor, Zero, Jiuyuan

The natural fitting team for a main DPS Chaos, with Zero’s instant Esper Meter refill, and Hathor extending Remora duration to buff his passive, while also granting a Crit Rate buff. Jiuyuan groups enemies for Chaos, because his AOE is small, and works as burst DPS, with healing with her A2.

This team has the highest uptime of Chaos’ Ultimate, and relies on him staying on-field most of the time.

Stain Team

Chaos, Hathor, Zero, Fadia

Chaos, Hathor, Zero, Haniel

The comfort option for Chaos is using Fadia, given his charged attacks have a long animation and he’s open for enemy attack while casting. Fadia negates a lot of damage taken, and adds Stain reaction, which increases Lakshana damage taken by enemies.

Zero focuses on renewing Remora on cooldown, and Chaos swaps to Fadia for Stain, so both have decent uptime, but you lose the Ultimate energy regeneration from Charged. So there’s room to use Hathor’s full kit while his Ultimate is down.

Zero doesn’t benefit from building Cycle Intensity in this team, as Remora doesn’t deal much damage on itself.

Haniel is a more offensive option, but this version is the weakest in defenses. You lose Zero's small healing, Jiuyuan CC and potential healing, and Fadia's damage mitigation.

Chaos Hotori Blossom Team

Chaos, Hotori, Zero, Jiuyuan

Using the infamous Zero + Hotori duo, this team exploits replicated skills to trigger more reactions. It’s similar to the Mono Blossom team, but for accounts without Nanally.

Once spawned, Blossom deals damage passively over time, and doesn’t require any specific character on-field. It also scales with Cycle Intensity on Zero, so it’s an excellent secondary DPS source.

Hotori plays as a third source of DPZ (Damage Per Zero-second as she stops the timer), and replicates skills to help build up both Esper Meter and Ultimate energy.

Remora duration will be shorter without Hathor, and Chaos’s nuke will deal significantly less damage. But we compensate with other sources.

Best Weapons

  • Limited BiS: What’s Desired
  • Paid Alternative: Fluff of Ferocity
  • F2P Alternative: A Time Will Come

What’s Desired is Chaos’ Limited weapon. With high Base ATK, CRIT Rate, Lakshana DMG%, and a CRIT DMG buff with a generic condition (using skill or Ultimate) for virtually a permanent uptime. So it’s the best weapon for him.

Fluff of Ferocity comes from the Battle Pass and is a decent alternative if you already bought it. It increases ATK% and ramps up a decent CRIT DMG buff.

A Time Will Come is A-Class Arc and the best F2P weapon for Chaos. You can obtain and reach full Mixing (M5) by merely playing the game, and getting dupes from pulling on any banner, or buying at the shop. You can use it in early game and also at endgame to provide a little lower DPS than the Paid options, but fairly decent still.

Best Cartridges & Modules

  • Cartridge: Street Boxer (S)
  • Cartridge Main Stat: Lakshana DMG% (with Crit Rate Arcs) / CRIT Rate (with Battle Pass Arc)
  • Substats: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG / Universal DMG% / ATK%

Street Boxer (S) is the best-in-slot cartridge for Chaos in every scenario. The double CRIT Rate buff ramps up to 28% total after triggering Remora or Stain.

Console’s bonus gives Chaos 16% CRIT DMG with every Type III module, and Street Boxer set requires 2x Type III modules. So you can stack a total of four Type III modules for 64% CRIT DMG. That's a very strong DPS multiplier for all of Chaos’ damage if he has enough Crit Rate

For the main stat, his ideal pick is Lakshana DMG% if he has enough CRIT Rate on his Arc. However, with the Battle Pass Arc, he gets even more CRIT DMG without any CRIT Rate. So he prefers CRIT Rate Main stat in this situation.

The ideal substats are CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, Universal DMG%, and ATK%.

Skill Priority

Basic Attack > Everything

For Chaos, the majority of his DPS comes from basic attack scaling, whether it's normal or charged attack. The other major part comes from triggering his passive at the end of Remora, which doesn't scale with any of his skill levels.

So the Ultimate and skill level has a minimum effect on his overall DPS, and players are better off focusing on Basic Attack all the way up to max level.

Awakenings & Resonance

A2A2: Charge / Sin
A3A3: Emberflare
A4A4: Drowning Tide
A5A5: Voidgaze
A6A6: False Origin

How to Play

Out in open world

Chaos can leave his hound behind as a teleport anchor, and teleport back to the hound whenever he wants. Up to two anchors can be placed by holding G button on Keyboard.

In Combat:

Chaos has two mini-nukes: one from his passive, which auto-triggers at the end of Remora on the enemy. He scales it passively by extending Remora duration which means Hathor is essential.

His second big hit comes from using charged attack after filling the Crime Bar above his HP. Normal attacks, dodge-counters, skill, and Ultimate builds up Crime points. Therefore, Chaos have to play on-field most of the time, leaving little room for any on-field sub-DPS. Even Hathor play passively and rarely become the active character in ideal rotations.

Chaos' skill and Ultimate apply "Warrant" debuff on enemies, with the skill only applying it to two enemies and Ultimate applying it to all enemies. This debuff increases the damage Chaos deals to them.

With Crime points rapidly generating every second after using Ultimate, Chaos heavily prefers Charge team that help regain his Ultimate energy fast. So keep him on-field after triggering both Blossom and Remora.

Reactions

Chaos refills his Esper Meter fast enough with three combos of 5x normal attacks. This way, he triggers Remora by himself, leaving Zero instant Esper Meter refill to trigger Blossom, with barely any field time required from support characters.

Outside of a Charge team, Chaos can leave Remora triggering to Zero, and use his own Esper Meter to trigger Stain by switching to a Psyche character instead (Such as Fadia or Haniel). This increases Psyche and Lakshana damage dealt to enemies even further.
