Watery Armor
Uth Duna can cover its body with a watery substance that acts as armor. Damaging the armored parts will show blue damage numbers.
Focus on breaking Uth Duna’s water armor, as it will make its attacks less powerful and knock it down.
Creating Waves
While standing in water, some of Uth Duna’s attacks will create waves. These can be big or small, and each has its own effects:
- Big waves deal damage, knock down the hunter and cause
Waterblight. These are caused by stronger attacks like its Belly Flop.
- Small waves just move the hunter back. Attacks like the Charge and Leap create these waves.
It is difficult to dodge Uth Duna’s waves, so be careful about your positioning and avoid standing directly in front of it, as that’s the direction most of the waves go.
Unstable Rubble
You can make the dam rubble in Area 15 fall, causing waves that knock down Uth Duna and damage it if it’s standing directly below. When it is moving to a new area you can also pull down the unstable rubble in area … dealing damage to Uth Duna and knocking it out of the water.
Lake Swim
While Uth Duna is in its nest in Area 17, it can jump into the lake. After some time, it will leap out of the water, creating massive waves.
Loch Ruins
You can use the Loch Ruins present in Area 17 to knock Uth Duna out of the water by making them fall right when Uth Duna is passing below them.
Water Veil Destroyed
Uth Duna covers itself in a water veil that negates all damage done to it. Your damage numbers will become blue while hitting it, indicating that you’re dealing damage to its veil. After dealing enough damage to the water veil, it will break, and Uth Duna will be knocked down.
Water Veil Regenerated
Some time after its water veil has been broken, Uth Duna will regenerate it. It will spin around and finally roar as its water veil grows back, dealing damage and knocking up nearby hunters. If you see it preparing this attack, be ready to guard or run away from it.
Slide - Belly Flop
Uth Duna can slide a significant distance during fights, repositioning itself around Hunters and even chaining it into any other attack, often a belly flop that doesn’t create waves. Keep track of Uth Duna’s positioning to avoid being hit from the back.
It can perform this move from idle or after a slide. The belly flop covers a wide area in front of it, but can be dodged sideways. While enraged, it can chain two flops.
Body Twist
Uth Duna coils its body, preparing a sweep forward that covers the whole area in front of it and can create a small wave.
Majestic Leap
Uth Duna can perform a giant leap, falling down after a brief delay. This attack covers a significant area directly in front of it but can be dodged sideways. It also creates a temporary wound on its head sometimes. This attack creates small waves.
Claw Charge
Uth Duna can charge forward, ending with an arm swipe that covers a significant area. This can happen right after it slides on watery terrain, so keep track of Uth Duna’s positioning to avoid it. This attack can create waves, too.
Foot Stomp
When you stay near its hind legs Uth Duna might throw out a foot stomp attack.
Tail Slam
When you attack or stay near Uth Duna’s tail, it might try to slam you with it. This attack creates big waves so you have to dodge it sideways!
Side Swipe
If you are near its side it can throw out a swipe attack with its front claw.
Headbutt
Uth Duna wiggles its head, before moving forward and throwing out a headbutt attack.
Shock Trap
Uth Duna is weak to the thunder element, so naturally a shock trap is a great tool to stun it and get some extra damage in.
Seikret Use
If you are having some trouble fighting Uth Duna while its Veil is up, you can use your mount Seikret to run around it while attacking the veil.
