Monster Hunter WildsCongalala Guide - Weaknesses, Location, Armor & More - MH Wilds

Overview

Congalala is a returning Fanged Beast in Monster Hunter Wilds, known for its huge appetite and its burp and fart attacks which change depending on what it eats.

Additionally, it is accompanied by a couple of smaller Congas, which will make the fight harder.

This guide is written by JourneyFar.

Location

Congalala is seen in the Scarlet Forest. It prefers the region’s jungle areas.

How to Prepare

Congalala is able to inflict a variety of ailments on hunters such as stench, , burn, and .

It has quick execution moves that do a big amount of damage but leaves openings.

Interrupting some of its moves can also net you items.

Having a stash of deodorizers, s, and s will help keep any ailments at bay.

Stench is a hampering status effect that makes hunters unable to use items. Using deodorant will remove this effect.

Dodging or blocking Congalala's physical attacks (besides the basic swipes) will open up easy opportunities for more damage as they have long recovery times.

Staying a long distance away from Congalala will make them use more status ailment attacks so it is better to keep a close or middling distance to them.

Attacking Congalala from behind will prompt them to use the fart attack more. The move comes out pretty fast and hits a wide area. Staying off center either side and in front is the best position to attack Congalala.

Mechanics to Look Out For

A Congalala is capable of some basic attacks using their long claws. They can swipe at you quick.

At mid distance, Congalala will see an opportunity to fling poop at hunters. Will cause a stench ailment if hit.

4 Swipe Combo

Beyond just a basic swipe, a Congalala can also do a mighty 4 swipe combo that has them swiping in front of the ground 4 times before falling over onto their back from the momentum. After the combo ends is a good time to attack as they rest on their back for a bit before getting up.

Sniff and Grab

Keeping up the attack or exhausting them will have a Congalala start sniffing the air in search of food to refill their bellies. They will run a short distance to feed on a random item that can give their belch attacks a different status effect. Interrupting them can yield an item that can be picked up.

Belch

Belching will release the status move they currently have with stench being the default if no food was consumed. This move has a long and wide range. Staying long range all the time will have Congalala use this move more often.

Quick Lunge

However, staying at a distance can be bad because Congalala may do a quick lunge at the hunter. This move comes out quick but dodging or guarding against it will give a good moment for attack.

The Fart

Stay away from the back end! Constantly attacking the butt of Congalala will have them use a fart attack that comes out quick with a wide area of effect. Will cause a stench ailment.

Body Slam

Watch out for the body slam too! Staying at a distance can make the Congalala choose to go for a flying body slam to close the distance while doing big damage. This move has a long recovery time as Congalala gets back up from the ground.

Fake Out Drop

When engaging from the front, Congalala will puff out their belly in an attempt to parry or damage the hunter which then can result in either a frontal slam or belch move. If enough damage was dealt and the stomach was broken, this move can just exhaust Congalala with no subsequent damage move after.

Weak Spots to Focus

  • Body Weak Points: Rear
  • Severable Points: None
  • Breakable Points: Head, Foreleg, Tail

Congalala’s weakest body part is its head, which is also exposed after some attacks.

Attacking its tail will make Congalala drop whatever shroom it carries.

Turf Wars

Congalala has turf wars against the other monsters of Scarlet Forest, like Rathian, Doshaguma, and more.
