Build Overview and Variants

This mid-game high-rank build focuses on utilizing both Thunder and Ice elements, providing excellent versatility against most enemy types by exploiting their weaknesses. As a lance user, you have exceptional defense, making this build a defensive juggernaut capable of inflicting high elemental and critical damage on any enemy that dares stand in your path.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The build revolves around a combination of gear, including the Windpierce Lance III and the Artian Lance II You'll need to customize these to ensure a diverse set of elemental weaknesses to exploit against enemies. For armor, we're using a carefully selected set.

For The Artian Lance II you're aiming for at least 15% Affinity and 400 base Thunder. You can aim for a higher rairty but for this build Rarity 7 is more than enough!

Ideal bonuses for your Artian Lance II: Sharpness Boost (1 Time), Elemental Boost (2 Times), Affinity Boost (1 Time) and Attack Boost (1 Times). Unless you get an excessive amount of sharpness boost for the most part everything else is fine. Elemental boost and Affinity is priority though.

Full Set Needed: G. Ebony Braces α, G. Ebony Helm β, Arkvulcan Coil β, G. Rathalos Mail β, and G. Rathalos Greaves β along with a Leaping Charm II and a Mending Mantle to further enhance the build's effectiveness.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Offensive Skill Focus: Attack Boost, Weakness Exploit, Burst, Critical Eye and Critical Boost.

Defensive Skill Focus: Guard, Offensive Guard, Counterstrike , Evade Extender and Guard Up.

Other Skill Options: Maximum Might, Constitution, Thunder Attack and Ice Attack.

How To Play

Playing this build is very straightforward. Your primary focus is to activate Offensive Guard as often as possible by parrying attacks with Right Trigger + Circle/B, depending on your system. When a dangerous attack comes out, use Right Trigger + B/Circle + A/X to counter. If timed correctly, you can maintain Offensive Guard almost constantly, making enemies unable to pressure you while you stay in the fight.

If you're constantly attacking, Burst will remain active, providing a significant damage boost. In the event that you get hit, you can use Counterstrike, which increases your damage. Maximum Might should remain active at all times unless you're performing a major defensive move—something you should only do against particularly dangerous attacks. Otherwise, you'll be engaging enemies head-on for most of the fight.
