Marvel RivalsMarvel Rivals Squirrel Girl Character Guide
Squirrel Girl Overview
Armed with her mighty slingshot, Squirrel Girl launches exploding acorns into hordes of enemies. The unique mechanic of her projectiles is their ability to bounce off the floor and walls.
The bounce allows her to play on off angles that take advantage of positions where she’s outside of the enemy’s LoS but can still land ricochet shots. Into groups of enemies, she has great consistent damage but against a single target, she can struggle to reliably land her acorns.
On maps with a lot of tight areas, like the first two points of Klyntar: Symbiotic Surface, Squirrel Girl’s bouncing projectiles and horde of squirrels become considerably stronger.

TLDR
How to Play
- Stand around corners and bounce your acorns off of walls so you can damage enemies who are unable to attack you back.
- Send out your Squirrel Stampede in tight areas with lots of walls and corners so they can quickly bounce and hone in on the enemy.
- Mammal Bond will typically be used to quick reload and refresh your Squirell Blockade so you can stun twice in a row.
How to Play Against
- Don't stand with your back against a wall. Squirrel Girls will be looking to launch their projectiles into the walls behind a team hoping they will bounce off and hit the enemies.
- Shoot the large lead squirrel of her ultimate. The front squirrel only has 300HP and can be destroyed quickly before it even reaches your team.
- Watch out for her stun. The best part of her kit is the ability to double stun. Be ready to evade or shield when you see her arms go up.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
Spam damage
The spam damage of acorns into a grouped up team is unmatched. All she has to do is aim generally in the direction and she can farm ult super fast and burn down shields, walls, and other barriers.
Luck
Let's be honest. Sometimes winning or losing a game comes down to a little bit of luck. While Squirrel Girl does purposely try to aim her projectiles and bounces, in the end, she needs a bit of luck, but luck is certainly on your side as she'll get random KOs from people she didn't even know were there.
Strong against the stationary from Vanguards
Even though her projectile's travel speeds are quite low, that doesn't matter when firing into stationary vanguards like Groot and Doctor Strange. She hits them with so much damage the enemy strategists have to dump all their resources into their Vanguards just to keep them topped off.
Weaknesses
Feeds enemy support ultimates
Sometimes all Squirrel Girl does is feed the enemy defensive ultimates and make them unkillable. Spamming damage into the frontline may give her a good feeling about her high damage stats on the scoreboard, but all she did was make her team lose to a cycle of unkillable defensive ultimates.
Weak against aerial enemies
Having slow bouncing projectiles does not favor well against aerial opponents. While she can use her tail jump to make her a bit more evasive, she's at a major disadvantage against fliers.
Easily countered ultimate
Sometimes, it may seem that Squirrel Stampede is unstoppable but rest assured that it is not. Vanguards with shields can redirect the horde and anyone with ranged damage can easily destroy squirrels. The easiest way to make her ult useless is just to get off the floor by leaping into the air or getting on high ground.

DAMAGE FALLOFF | 70% falloff at 3m |
FIRE RATE | 1.49 acorns per second |

Tips for Primary fire: Burst Acorn
Attack who no one else can
- Since your acorns bounce off all environments and structures, you have the ability to attack enemies that are out of your team's LoS.
- Shoot over barriers and bounce acorns off walls to target the backline.
- Bounce acorns on angles where the enemy can’t shoot you back because they can’t see you.
Great AoE damage
- Only the explosion deals damage, so firing into grouped-up enemies will considerably increase your overall damage output and rate of ultimate charge.
- Explodes on 2nd bounce
Shoot the ground, not the body
- When targeting a single grounded enemy, you can shoot at the floor in front of them and aim for the 2nd bounce to land near them. That way you will always get the explosion damage in and not have to land difficult direct hits.
Ultimate: Unbeatable Squirrel Tsunami

Tips for Ultimate: Unbeatable Squirrel Tsunami
Don’t fire straight into the enemy
- The low health of the lead squirrel means when they are running in a straight line from your team into the enemy team, it's very easy to destroy.
- Instead, take an off angle or launch your squirrels from above to drop down on the enemy.
Tail Bounce
DESCRIPTION | Rocket upwards with a bounce of her tail. |
KEY | SHIFT |
JUMP HEIGHT | 9m |
COOLDOWN | 8s |
Tips for Tail Bounce
Use offensively
- You can use Tail Bounce to leap up and fire down into the team over barriers they are being protected by.
- When an enemy is trying to escape, chase after them with Tail Bounce and try to secure the KO.
Evade and escape
- Tail Bounce is Squirrel Girl's only escape tool. Make sure to save it when you know the enemy keeps coming in to target you.
- You can jump over and away from many ground-based ultimates like the explosion of Magneto’s ult, Jeff’s swallow, and more.
Mammal Bond
DESCRIPTION | Reload Burst Acorns and can use an ability without cooldown once in a short duration. |
KEY | E |
MAXIMUM DURATION | 5s |
COOLDOWN | 10s |
Tips for Mammal Bond
Instantly gives you max ammo and refreshes one ability
- Even when using it to reload, you should always use one of your abilities before activating Mammal Bond, or else you’ll be completely wasting half of its power.
Be decisive and patient
- You have a full 5 seconds until your Mammal Bond extra CD goes away. Use the ability quickly, but you don’t have to use it immediately. Make sure it's well timed.
Squirrel Blockade
DESCRIPTION | Launch an acorn to unleash Squirrel Guards, Imprisoning the first hit enemy. |
KEY | Right Click |
CASTING | Charged projectile with an arced trajectory |
MAXIMUM CHARGE TIME | |
PROJECTILE SPEED | 20 - 60 m/s (Maximum speed is achieved after 0.7s of charging) |
DAMAGE | 35 |
IMPRISON DURATION | |
COOLDOWN | 8s |
Tips for Squirrel Blockade
Have acorns ready for follow up
- Often Squirrel Girl players will run out of ammo before they can KO an imprisioned enemy. Make sure to check your remaining ammo before committing your stun.
Quickly charges
- Most of the time, you are better off fully charging the squirrel guards because it takes less than a second, and they travel much faster at full charge.
- Against enemies with shields and evades, it may be better not to charge at close range to give them less time to react.
Team-Up: Squirrel Missile
DESCRIPTION | Squirrel Girl gains the Squirrel Missile ability. She directs a squirrel to ride Iron Man's nanotech glove as a homing missile. Upon hit, the squirrel flees just before a fiery explosion! |

DAMAGE FALLOFF | Falloff begins at 4m, decreasing to 50% at 8m |
EXPLOSION RANGE | 8m spherical radius spell field |

Tips for Team-Up: Squirrel Missile
Helps with fliers and high mobility enemies
- Squirrel Girl still isn't going to be shutting down fliers like Hela, or tracking Spider-Man like a Namor Squid, but the homing missile gives you guaranteed damage against these pesky annoyances.
- Don't use it for spam damage, save Squirrel Missile for the crucial moments you need help hitting a shot on a flier or flanker.
Synergies
Team Comp Synergies
Team comps built around Squirrel Girl can follow up on her spam damage and take advantage of the constant pressure she puts on the enemy. She can struggle to secure elims on her own unless your prediction aim is straight up cracked. She doesn’t demand a ton of healing since she can bounce her acorns around corners. Instead, she benefits from Strategists who can follow up on her damage.
Vanguards who stand firmly in the frontline and offer her protection are good pairings. Additionally and equally strong are dive Vanguards who pull the enemy’s Strategist healing away from their Vangaurds who Squirrel Girl can burn down in the meantime. When selecting a Duelist to join her, she wants the other to either convert her damage into KOs or cover her weaknesses.
Team Comp Example
- Vanguards: Thor, Groot
- Duelists: Squirrel Girl, Spider-Man
- Strategists: Mantis, Invisible Woman
Hero Synergies
Vanguards: Thor

The mobility and damage of Thor allow him to either help chip away at the enemy frontline or go in deep and disrupt the backline. These are exactly the two things Squirrel Girl wants her Vanguard to be able to do. Combining these two hero’s damage gives Strategists a hard time keeping their teammates alive.
Duelists: Spider Man

Not only does Spider-Man give Squirrel Girl an extra stun ability, but their playstyles actually complement each other quite well. When her Acorn explosions get a Duelist low, Spider-Man can swing in and finish them off.
He's also great at disrupting enemy backlines and preventing them from being able to heal their frontlines for when Squirrel Girl is focusing on her spamming them. Spider-Man can even deal with Flyers pretty well so he can cover one of Squirrel Girl’s main weaknesses.
Strategists: Mantis

Since Squirrel Girl should always be positioned near cover she doesn't demand a ton of burst healing. Mantis’ damage boost helps Squirrel Girl build her ult faster and the healing orbs tend to be sufficient to keep her alive. Moreover, both of these Heroes Excel at spamming their projectiles into the enemy and apply a ton of offensive pressure.
