In a game with nearly 175 characters, you’re bound to find some outliers- champions who are ridiculously strong or incredibly weak. Every year, Riot introduces new champions, one of the many ways they keep the game fresh. However, one of the champions they’ve “recently” released has caused more harm than good, and that is, of course, Mel.
In a recent post by Captain Gameplay, they highlighted players' frustrations with playing as and against Mel, so Riot is going to give her a mid-scope update.
The main problem with her kit is her W, which currently reflects abilities. This mid-scope update is intended to reduce the frustration of playing against Mel.
What Will Change?
In the post, Riot says the W will still destroy projectiles, but it will no longer reflect them. So you will no longer reflect abilities towards the enemy.
Her Passive will change slightly and deal less damage early. But you gain multiple stacks quicker.
Her Q damage/strength will also change: it will be fairer to play against in lane and slower.
Her E root duration will be reduced.
They’re trying to take some of her early-game power and move it to a more scaling champion, so she is losing some of her early durability and damage.
When Will Mel’s Rework Hit Live Servers?
The Mel rework is planned to come to the live servers on Patch 26.22.
I expect these changes to Mel to make her a higher-picked champion moving forward. Right now, she is basically banned every game, as no one wants to deal with her W or her insane, annoying poke in lane with her Q. I am excited to try the Mel changes, and I think this is a better move for Mel going forward.
