Can regenerate a lot of health with his W and hence outsustain his enemies in the lane. His Ultimate R amplifies this effect and is really effective when fighting in closed spaces.
He can use his W to set-up ganks for his Jungler as well. This allows him to catch up to his target while also providing vision of the area. The latter part is very useful when it comes to objective control.
Very immobile and is weak during the early laning phase. This is especially true if he is facing a champion who can all-in and CC him.
Is quite vulnerable when his E is down as it is his main form of CC.
Grievous wounds can completely counter his kit during the early game and also affect his mid-game. He is very weak when his Ultimate R is down as he won’t have the amplified healing and AoE damage.

Play safe for the first few levels. You need time to come online and you shouldn’t be fighting unless you have a clear early advantage.
After destroying the bottom lane tower, rotate to the mid lane and try to take that tower. This will open up the map and give your team a gold lead.

Stay with your team during the mid-game. You’re not strong enough to remain alone. Make sure you’re always with your ADC at the very least.
Place vision around major objectives before the objective spawns. Use your W to help you scout for enemies so you don’t have to face check them.
Look for picks with your team on isolated targets. Catching out a key target could allow you to take the Baron.

Ward major objectives and place vision in high traffic areas in the late stages of the game. Keep them warded so you can see the enemy move around the map and see them starting the objective.
Stay with your team at all times. Avoid moving around the map alone so you do not get caught out. Getting caught out will result in your team having to play 4v5. Do not ward alone unless you know where the enemy is.
Peel for your allies as much as possible. Keeping them alive for as long as possible in team fights is a must in order to win the game.
Swain's level 3 is a massive power spike as he can now go for all-ins with a high amount of burst damage. Concealing his position in the lane brushes should give him the element of surprise as well.
Level 6 is another significant power spike. He can now all-in an entire enemy team and deal a lot of AoE damage. This is very useful during neutral objective fights and clumped team fights.
The first item will give him a massive burst damage boost. This is vital and will lead to Swain taking over the game quickly. He can use the lane brushes to solo kill enemy targets with ease.
Swain's Ultimate R is going to be really powerful from level 11. He will be able to affect team fights quickly, and his zoning potential will increase drastically to ensure that his backline remains safe at all times.
Swain will have the opportunity to impact team fights during the mid-game, predominantly neutral objective fights a lot. This is quite beneficial for him, given the AoE aspect of his Ultimate R.
His first ability will be maxed out at level 9. This will increase his burst damage by quite a lot and make it easier for him to secure picks on isolated enemy targets.
Once Swain maxes out his Ultimate R, the enemy team will have a lot of trouble trying to all-in him. He can zone enemies off and single-handedly take care of immobile enemy champions.
His overall damage is really high during the late game. This is due to the lower cooldowns on his abilities which make it really easy for Swain to all-in enemy champions frequently.
Swain's late-game team fighting ability is really high. His kit makes it possible for him to afflict multiple targets at a time while ensuring that the enemy backline can't follow up on their front-liners engage.
