Sion Matchups Overview

Sion General information

Sion tips and tricks

At level 1, look for a cheesy Decimating SmashQ on the enemy. As the blue team, you could set up a death bush so when the enemy walks through it, you blow their Summoner Spells or get early kills.

When you’re in zombie mode, make sure you keep auto-attacking whatever you can to deal extra damage to towers, the enemy or even to pick up gold from minions.

While Sion will be a tank, try your hardest to peel for your ADC in team fights. If they die at the start of the fight, the likelihood of you winning the fight will be reduced.

The Best Sion Builds, Runes and Items for Support in Emerald +

Most Popular

If you want to use the most popular Sion Support build, you should take Flash and Ignite as your Summoner Spells. For runes, you should pick Grasp of the Undying as your keystone, followed by Demolish, Conditioning and Overgrowth in the primary tree, as well as Approach Velocity and Cash Back in the secondary tree. For rune shards, you want Attack Speed in offense, Adaptive Force in flex and Health Scaling in defense, though it depends on the matchup. Finally, for your items, you should build Celestial Opposition as your first item, followed by Plated Steelcaps and Heartsteel. For your last 3 items, you should build Thornmail, Unending Despair and finish with Spirit Visage. For the skill order, you want to stick with Q - W - E. Right now, this build has 49.5% winrate over 279 matches played.

Optional

Your second option for Sion Support build would be to take Flash and Ignite as your Summoner Spells. The runes that this build takes advantage of are Phase Rush as your keystone, Manaflow Band, Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm in the primary tree, and Conditioning with Demolish in the secondary tree. The shards used in this build are Attack Speed in offense, Adaptive Force in flex and Health Scaling in defense. The items for the build are Bloodsong, which you should build first, followed by Boots of Swiftness as your second item and Youmuu's Ghostblade as your third item. The rest of the items in order are Axiom Arc, Opportunity and Lord Dominik's Regards. The skill order for this build is Q - W - E. In the current patch, this build has a 39.3% win rate over 191 matches.

Alternative

If you're looking for alternatives, you can use Flash and Ignite as your Summoner Spells, with runes being Grasp of the Undying as your keystone, Demolish, Second Wind and Overgrowth in the primary tree, and Biscuit Delivery with Magical Footwear in the secondary tree, as well as Adaptive Force, Health Scaling, and Health Scaling as your rune shards. The items that this build incorporates are Bloodsong as your first item, then Boots of Swiftness as a second item and Heartsteel as a third item. You want to finish the build with Warmog's Armor, Overlord's Bloodmail and Spirit Visage. As far as ability max order goes, you want to keep it Q - W - E. This build is currently sitting at a 48.8% win rate across 123 matches played.

The last 3 options are Locket of the Iron Solari, Knight's Vow and Unending Despair. The ability order for this build is Q - W - E. As of the current patch, this build has a 57.1% win rate over 91 matches played.

Situational Sion Runes and Items

Depending on the context of your game, your matchup, and enemy champions, you might want to consider building some situational items or take specific runes. Carefully examine your team, enemy team, game state , and your matchup to plan your Sion build accordingly! For example, when it comes to rune shards, you might want to take either Armor or Magic Resist, depending on which champion you are about to lane against.
