Unleash Hel Upon Your Enemies

Aspect of Hel quickly fires standard Attack, and it's Ω Specials shoots out a homing skull that bounces around the chamber.

Aspect of Hel possesses the fastest Attack speeds in the game. As a trade-off, its base damage is very low. This makes it an absolute machine for triggering on-hit effects.

This build harnesses the bountiful power of Poseidon's Wave Strike to turn Hel's rapid-fire strikes into massive splash damage. By focusing on the rapid infliction of Waves, and stacking up damage Bonuses from secondary Boons, we exploit Hel's fire rate to create a cascade of ocean-fueled explosions.

The other quality that makes Poseidon the ideal start for Aspect of Hel is the large AoE of each Splash. Hel's Attack only hits a single foe by default, so adding an AoE effect to each shell greatly helps when facing off against hordes of foes.

Get ready to drown Chronos's forces in a flood of Waves all thanks to the overwhelming power of the God of the Sea!

Aside from the listed build that centers on Wave Strike, you could also build into Scorch damage from Flame Strike and grab every tier 2 Scorch Boon.

Additionally, Heaven Strike can also work. If going this route, prioritize getting Static Shock as Chain lighting pairs great with the machine gun like Attack.

Essentially, Aspect of Hel's Valkyrie state benefits from on-hit effects much more than damage modifiers. Waves and Scorch are pretty similar in power, but the Poseidon has better boss killing potential once you've acquired the Legendary and anything else that buffs damage related to Splash and Froth.

Keepsake

Since the entire build relies on Poseidon's Splash effects, starting withVivid Sea allows us to roll for Wave Strike and increase the rarity for more damage.

Arcana

Since this build does not go for Fates' Whim Keepsakes, make sure you have the entire Fates reroll corner activated: The Enchantress (XVI), The Boatman (XVII), The Champions (XXII), The Fates (XXI).

Poseidon builds have very specific requirements. Prioritize reroll uses to get Wave Strike, Flood Gain (or Breaker Rush / Geyser Spout if needed), Slippery Slope, and King Tide.

If you get Ares in your God Pool, then it can be worth rerolling for Arterial Spray if you already have both requirements fulfilled.

For variation different from the Arcana in the builder, I wouldn't recommend straying too far off unless you decide to do a Jeweled Pom start instead.

Otherwise, Death (XII) and Strength (XXIII) are interchangeable. Both Scorch and Splash damage are buffed by Strength (XXIII)'s global % boost, making it slightly more optimal.

Special Boons

The best Special Boons have a Curse you'd want to spread around the room like Hitch (Sworn Flourish) or Wounds (Vicious Flourish). This will help keep Origination (XIV) activated, as the skull bounces around foes.

Any damage % Boon will work fine in the Special slot, but I feel that Volcanic Flourish and Flame Flourish are the weakest.

Cast Boon

Ideally, grabbing Smolder Ring is great for constant dps from Scorch and opening up Scalding Vapor for even more dps.

Any Cast Boon will work fine in this build. Just be sure that if you have a Special Boon with no Curse, like Flutter Flourish, then make sure your Cast inflicts a Curse.

Rush Boon

I wouldn't worry about getting a Rush Boon when using Aspect of Hel. You are mostly standing still and Dashing at a distance, so Rush Boons won't do much.

Smithy Rush is cool because you can get Hephaestus' tier 2 Boon, Furnace Blast to inflict Glow and get a nice global damage buff.

Frigid Rush will come in handing in dealing with projectiles while using this immobile Aspect.

Breaker Rush can be another good choice because it fulfills a requirement for King Tide, and gets foes off of you so you can stand still and fire Attacks, or Channel an Omega Special.

Gain Boon

Again, the best option is Flood Gain because it will easily keep you topped off, and it fulfills the final requirement for King Tide.

Alternatively, any of the other high Magick regen Boons such as Born Gain or Lucid Gain are good substitutes.

Hammers

Leering Glance is BY FAR the best Hammer for Aspect of Hel. The extra bounce literally doubles your dps when facing more than one foe (which is almost always). You'll clear rooms twice as fast if you get this OP Hammer.

Venerated Relic & Garmr Gaze are also good Hammers for Aspect of Hel. In a perfect world you'd get one of these after Leering Glance, and you'd be set up real nice.

Combat Loop

1. locate foes, use Cast to create space for yourself.
2. Channel Omega Special
3. hold Attack and rapid fire the way of the Valkyrie
4. repeat

Omega Attacks are not worth it with this build. The damage will be negligible, and will basically be a waste of Magick.

Focus on Valkyrie uptime, and spamming for fast Attacks. Remember that because you are locked in place, holding Dash for actual dodges is very important.

If you spam Dash just because it's available, you're going to end up constantly taking damage.
