Build Overview

Lim and Oros's hidden Aspect of the Morrigan Crow Cutters' alternative moveset features Blood Triad combos as a built-in source of burst damage.

The Aspect of the Morrigan is considered a high skill aspect because the startup and recovery animations are slow, and you need to manage Blood Trial combos. You will even find that different Guardians have various optimal Blood Triad combos. For example, the guardians that chase you down fast leave few openings for you to channel Ω Attacks.

This build utilizes Hitch's linked damage to maximize the crowd value of Blood Triad's burst damage. I'll explain in full detail the mechanics of Blood Triad combos and damage, and why I think Hera is one of the best starting God choices for the Hidden Blades Aspect.

One of the unique qualities of Aspect of the Morrigan compared to all other Aspects is that at all times, from the first encounter to the final encounter, you have access to Blood Triads as a constant source of high damage.

With that said, let's get into how I recommend building building for the best Lim and Oros Aspect.

Under "Primary God Boons," you'll find the three most impactful Boons for this build.

In some sections, such as under, Daedalus Hammer Upgrades," notice there are more Hammers listed than you'll likely get in a run. For these cases, I overfilled the slots to give you multiple good options to select, depending on what you are offered.

More in depth Discussion on Boons is under "God Boons" below.

Two alternative Core Build Routes:

  • Another popular choice is to go for a Scorch Build instead, by building around Flame Strike. When going the Flame Strike route, the focus of your gameplay will less on Blood Triads, and more on spamming the Final Slice combo listed under Combat Loop.
  • Nova Strike greatly increases the AoE of your attack, which is really good on Aspect of the Morrigan because of how strong the Attacks are. Similarly to the listed Hammers that increase AoE, Nova Strike will also make it easier to complete Blood Trials on hordes of foes.
    • Nova Strike builds trade Sworn Strike's higher base % damage and Hitch for increased AoE. Personally I feel Hitch builds are better here, and I will explain as to why below.

General Tips and Tricks

Combat Loop

There are essentially two variations of combat loops for Aspect of the Morrigan: One for standard moves, one for Ω Blood Triads.

The Final Slice combo loop works especially good with on hit effects like Flame Strike, since the final slice triple hit quickly stacks the Curse.

  • Dash-strike → Special → Final Slice → Special → Repeat
    • or
  • Special → Dash-Strike → Final Slice: (Repeat based on movement and Special travel)
    • Meaning if you Dash away from your Special, you can fit in an extra Dash Strike → Final Slice as the Special hits on return, etc.

Blood Triad Combos

  • Special → Dash Attack →  Ω Attack: Repeat (B&B Blood Triad Combo)
    • OR: Special → Attack → Dash + Ω Attack
  • Ω Attack → Special → Attack → Dash Ω Attack → Special → Attack: Repeat
  • Ω Cast Variant
    • Channel Ω Cast as soon as you see an enemy spawn point. Blood Triad Combo, Dash-strike + Special → Ω Cast eruption triggers 2nd Blood Triad

Aiming the Omega Attack

Some players report the trouble with the Omega Attack locking onto the wrong target. To help minimize the occurrences of this, you can turn down the "RETICLE MAGNETISM" setting to 10% or lower in your Gameplay settings.

There are not official units of measurements listed in-game, but you'll need to get used to estimating the distance that the Ω Attack dash will travel. With a bit of practice you'll be hitting your mark every time!

Starting Loadout

Why Hera?

The reason I recommend going for a Hera start here is because the plan is to spam Blood Triad combos. Hitch will help us to maximize the value of each Blood Triad.

In Game Example

Hitch Damage Numbers

The foe on the lower right of the screen is getting hit by an Ω Attack + Blood Triad. The foe on the left is Hitch afflicted. Purely from Hitch damage, the foe on the left takes a burst of 301 damage!

  • 777 + 228 = 1,005 x 30% (Hitch) = 301.5

Every time you trigger a Blood Triad, all Hitch afflicted foes are going to take a nice burst of damage. The linked damage is gonna stack super high when you multiple foes are Cursed and having Blood Triads triggered on groups of foes.

Also, due to our high Magick Need, Born Gain is one of the Best Boons for the job.

Arcana

The Huntress (III) will add a decent bit of damage to this build because of how often you're going to be spamming Dash-Strikes, Attack, and Special.

Night (X) can be another good option when you feel comfortable mixing in Ω Specials and Ω Casts into your Blood Triad Combos. This takes some getting used to and I would consider this a high execution skill strategy.

If you're having a hard time not getting hit while channeling Omegas, you might want to consider swapping out Origination (XIV), and instead throwing on Eternity (IV). With the left Over 2 Grasp you can opt for Night (X).

Because Blood Triad damage is unaffected by Origination (XIV), I wouldn't say it is a must-have for Aspect of the Morrigan, even though for most other builds it usually would be considered as such.

God Boons

Tidal Ring is the best Cast Boon for Aspect of the Morrigan because the quick combos of multi-hitting Attacks and Specials can repeatedly trigger Froth damage.

Volcanic Flourish serves a few purposes. First off, the burst damage is another nice addition. More over, it's going to open up the possibility of working towards Premium Service. (Generally, this will be easier to achieve with rerolls and on the Surface becuase its easier to get more Boons.)

Apollo is great here for either Blinding Rush or Lucid Gain. The Rush Boon is preffered so we can inflict Daze on everybody. Plus, together with Tidal Ring, you might get offered Beach Ball.

  • Check out the Victory Screen at the bottom of this page if you are unfamiliar with Beach Ball's OP damage. In this run, I didn't get it until right before the Prometheus fight and it still ended as one of the highest total damage numbers.

Secret Beach Ball Strat

Ok, perhaps not a secret, but a fun and powerful strategy with Aspect of the Morrigan and Beach Ball is to throw Ω Special, then Sprint away. The three spinning blades will chase after you as you build up the Watery Globe. You should be able to get out a couple water balls before the blades catch up to you. Then turn around and Dash-Strike --> Ω Attack to trigger Blood Triad on everyone the Special just passed through.

Specials

The Special Boon slot has a lot of flexibility. The blades hit multiple times, so on-hit effects work fine. Or, you can always go with the Specials that work great on every Lim and Oros like Heaven Flourish.

The only Specials I would for sure avoid are Nova Flourish and Flutter Flourish.

How Does Blood Triad Damage Work?

Blood Triad Damage

Blood Triad is a unique damage source unaffected by global, Olympian, or strike damage buffs, and cannot deal critical damage.

At rank V, Aspect of the Morrigan, deals a flat 777 damage. There are technically three ways to increase the damage of Blood Triad: The Daedalus Hammers Banshee Brand, Phantom Brand, and Hephaestus' Legendary Boon, Premium Service.

Deal 2,664 Damage From One Blood Triad

  • Premium Service Rank VI Aspect of the Morrigan deals 999 damage per Blood Triad
  • (Very Rare) Icarus's Invention, Full Service, upgrades 1 random Hammer. If it upgrades Phantom Brand, Blood Triads deal +333, [up from +222]
  • Therefore the maximum possible damage a Blood Triad can deal is 1332
    • Then with Banshee Brand, it can double strike, resulting in total of 2,664 damage from one Blood Triad

Completing the Triad

First off, in order to complete a Blood Triad, a hit from all these move types (Omega, Attack, Special) must connect with the same foe.

For the Ω Move requirement, Attack, Special, and Cast are all equal. Damage from any Ω Move will fulfill the Ω requirement.

In case you lose track of who's been hit by what, here's what the three triangle indicators mean:

  • Ω = Top
  • Attack = Bottom left
  • Special = Bottom right

The requirements do not expire. As long as the foe is still alive, any of the three Moves hit will have its indicator linger until you complete the Blood Triad on them.
