Build Overview

The Aspect of Nyx comes equipped with two unique base effects. First off you have an Omega Sprint that deals 250 base damage. Then after you use the Omega Boost, you'll produce "Nightspawn" which splits your attack and special in half.

To optimize the strengths of Aspect of Nyx you want two things:

  1. An Attack Boon that benefits from the split and increased AOE
  2. A Rush Boon with a Sprint effect as opposed to only a dash effect
  3. A Special Boon with a Curse to rapidly spread during Nightspawn.

For this build we're going with a Hestia start so that we can get Flame Strike. I will explain in full detail below why I believe Hestia is the best God for the Nyx.

I will also breakdown how Nightspawn works, so you can better utilize the mechanics of Nyx, understand why it's strong, and gain the skill to create a powerful build every run no matter how hard the RNG.

Below the build planner, you can find info on another strong build variation.

  • This build guide is written by HookieDookie, who has played over 700 hours of Hades 2, and cleared every weapon Aspect at high Fear on both the Underworld and the Surface (Including multiple at 65 Fear).

The Boons listed under, "Primary God Boons," are your top priority.

  • Alternatively, another common Aspect of Nyx build is to go with Poseidon for Wave Strike. If you'd like to try out that variation, you can actually copy the same build from the Black Coat Starter Guide.
    • All Boons and build strategies carry over the same between these two Xinth Aspects. Just add in the unique Nyx strategies and tech below.
  • Sworn Strike & Sworn Flourish are also good in standard encounters because you spread Hitch super fast with Nightspawn. However, in Guardian encounters, I feel Hera builds for Nyx are noticeably weaker.

Don't worry about trying to get every boon/upgrade listed in a section. I purposely overfilled each section to give you multiple good options. Target the ones listed, and take the best you're offered.

How Nightspawn Works

Nightspawn Activation

While Sprinting, you'll see your Omega channeling meter filling up. Once the Omega Boost hits a foe, you'll see your Nightspawn meter attached to your health bar glowing full. After 5 Seconds the Nightspawn meter will be fully depleted, and you can Omega Boost once again to reactivate it.

Anytime enemies are spawning, you should be Sprinting so that the Omega Boost is ready the instant a foe is attackable.

Nightspawn Uptime

The moment your Nightspawn deactivates, you should Omega Boost again. Both the large AoE damage of the Omega Boost, and the Nightspawn damage are vitally important to maximizing your damage output.

Even with a Common Glamour Gain, you'll have enough Magick to constantly Omega Boost. (Nightspawn lasts 5 seconds, and 6 Magick /sec for 5-seconds = 30 (Omega Boost costs 30)

Split Damage

First your normal Attack or Special fires, and then it splits off as a Nightspawn.

For both the Special and the Attack, the Night Spawn gets produced whether or not the move actually hits a foe. The Attack always splits into the Y-shape, and Special rockets split off even if they just explode in the in mid-air.

Nightspawn Attack

To fully comprehend Nightspawn mechanics, let's take a look at the Nightspawn Attack.

The punch still has it's regular single hitbox, and then extending beyond that it has two unique Nightspawn-hitboxes. If a foe is hit with the regular attack hitbox (which is directly in front of Melinoë) they will ONLY take normal damage and the night spawn does not affect them.

However if the foe is farther away from Melinoë, they can get hit by one or both Nightspawn hitboxes.

Nyx single hit

  • The foe is too close and takes damage from only the standard Attack.

  • The foe in the back is hit by BOTH Nightspawn hitboxes.

In the above examples, we see the standard Attack is dealing 68 damage, and a Heroic Flame Strike deals 75 Scorch Damage.

The second photo displays BOTH Nightspawn hitboxes hitting foe in the back.

  • Therefore, that foe takes 102 Attack damage plus 150 Scorch damage from a single punch.
    • Math for us nerds
    • Rank V Nightspawn damage is 75%
    • 68 x 75% = 51
    • 51 x 2 = 102

Also, notice how far away the foe is, because just as important as the increased damage, the massively increased range of Nightspawn is what makes Aspect of Nyx such a great weapon.

Nightspawn Special

When you have a Curse like Hitch, Blitz or Froth on your Special, the splitting rockets will spread across the room very effectively and inflict the curse on every foe hit.

Pair Nightspawn with Shimmering Rockets and you're going to delete hordes of foes.

Omega Moves

Aspect of Nyx's Nightspawn only affects standard Attack and Special. Omega versions of either do NOT produce Nightspawns. Therefore, we won't be wasting much time or Magick using either one.

God Boons

Why Hestia?

Now that you understand how Nightspawn hitboxes work, it makes sense why Hestia is so good with Aspect of Nyx. Scorch can literally deal double damage on every hit, and since Scorch is a on-hit effect, it's damage is not decreased by Nightspawn.

Moreover, Xinth Dash-strikes are all triple hits, so every Dash-strike applies three stacks of Scorch (would be 225 with the Heroic Flame Strike example above).

  • This ties into the other reason I do not recommend Wave Strike for Aspect of Nyx. Only one Wave Strike can ever be triggered at a time, so you don't get the Nightspawn double damage potential of Flame Strike.

Duo Boons

Burning Desire stops accrued Scorch from diminishing. Essentially, you'll have 100% Scorch uptime with Glamour Gain, so this is very very strong.

Freezer Burn burst damage is actually crazy. If you get Burning Desire as well, Freezer Burn can deal ~3k damage every time you reapply Freeze.

Thermal Dynamics more Scorch damage is more good. If you end up with Heaven Flourish, then you definitely should look to grab their Duo.

Upgrades and Support

Any of the non-Omega Hammers are good with Aspect of Nyx

Exhaust Riser sort of ignores the whole point of Nightspawns, but it is straight up OP with Flame Strike.

Rapid Frame flat out increases your dps by increasing your attack strike speed.

Launcher Frame save you time and effort by auto-firing the Specials. This is especially good with Curse Specials like Heaven Flourish and Vicious Flourish.

Shimmering Rockets is especially good with Sworn Flourish, as the entire room can easily be Hitch linked.
