Introduction

Stellar-Conduct is the first Stellar Reaction introduced in Genshin. Coming out alongside Sandrone and the Witch's Revelation buffs in Patch 6.7, it is a meta-defining Reaction with many intricacies and several powerful characters that can make use of it. Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl are presently the only Stellar Reactions, and are going to be very important for the meta and endgame of Snezhnaya moving forward.

Stellar-Conduct Reaction Explanation

What Is Stellar-Conduct?

Stellar-Conduct is the modified version of the Superconduct reaction. Superconduct is the Reaction that occurs when Cryo is applied on an enemy with Electro on them, or vice versa.

If a character that enables Stellar-Conduct is in the current party, when Superconduct would trigger, Stellar-Conduct will trigger instead. The characters that can do this are, as of 7.0:

Odette Sandrone Traveler (Cryo)

Odette Build Guide | Sandrone Build Guide | Traveler (Cryo) Build Guide

There are many more characters that either significantly interact with Stellar-Conduct in their kit or outright require it to become meta viable, but cannot inherently enable Stellar-Conduct.

What Does It Do?

Regular Superconduct deals a bit of damage that scales on the Elemental Mastery of the character that triggered it, and reduces the Physical RES of enemies hit by it by 40% for 20 seconds. Stellar-Conduct's effects are entirely different. When a Stellar-Conduct Reaction is triggered, it will initially do two things:

  • Spawn a 'Polestar Field' with a duration of 6 seconds, or refresh its duration if one already exists.
  • Trigger "Radiance: Stellar-Conduct" for 8 seconds.

The Polestar Field contains the core mechanics of the reaction, whereas the Stellar Radiance is what enables the Stellar-Conduict parts of Stellar characters.

The Polestar Field

After it spawns, the Polestar Field will begin 'recording' all Cryo and Electro Application dealt to enemies within its range. This recording phase will last for 4 seconds, and when it ends, it will:

  • Provide a buff to the Stellar-Conduct, Cryo and Electro damage of party members within the Field
  • End the current recording and begin a new one

The buff it provides scales with the amount of Cryo and Electro Application it recorded, with each counter going from 0 to 12.

  • Each Cryo or Electro Application within its recording period will count for 1 such stack.
  • Cryo or Electro damage that doesn't apply the corresponding Element will not provide a stack to the Polestar Field.
  • This includes all Cryo and Electro Stellar-Conduct Direct damage, as well as Lunar-Charged Direct damage or other types of Reaction damage that do not apply any Element.

Polestar Field Buff Mechanics

After the amount of Cryo and Electro Applicaations have been tallied, the corresponding buff will be given for the next 5 seconds.

Whenever a new recording period ends, which is every 4 seconds, this buff will be overriden by the new buff value. This goes for values of it that are both lower and higher.

  1. Polestar Field spawns
  2. Record for the next 4 seconds
  3. After those 4 seconds end, give a buff for 4 seconds and begin a new 4 second recording period
  4. Repeat Step 3

Due to these short recording periods and high buff strength, Cryo and Electro Supports tend to be further incentivized in Stellar-Conduct teams. While Supports that aren't Cryo or Electro are still certainly viable, most won't interact with the Polestar Field at all.

Polestar Field Buff Values

The Buff of the Polestar Field scales from 0 to 12. When the very first recording period begins, it will do so with a counter of 0. It is very unlikely for any serious Stellar-Conduct to see 0 again beyond that. Reaching 12 is exceedingly difficult for dedicated Stellar-Conduct teams, and is reserved essentially entirely for AoE combat scenarios.

  • 0 stacks: no change to Direct Stellar-Conduct damage. 28% Cryo and Electro DMG Bonus.
  • 1 stack: Direct SC damage is multiplied by 1.45x; 29% Cryo / Electro DMG Bonus.
  • 2 stacks: Direct SC damage is multiplied by 1.5x; 30% C/E DMG Bonus
  • 3 stacks: Direct SC damage is multiplied by 1.55x; 31% C/E DMG Bonus

...

  • 12 stacks: Direct SC damage is multiplied by 2x; 40% C/E DMG Bonus

Starting at 1 stack, Direct SC damage will deal 45% more damage, incremented by 5% for every additional stack. The Cryo and Electro DMG Bonus value pales in comparison, usually at most 20% more damage of those types. This makes Cryo and Electro characters typically much weaker than dedicated Stellar-Conduct characters in the same slots.

Interaction with Stellar Swirl

Stellar-Conduct and Stellar Swirl can entirely co-exist as reactions. You are able to trigger both with any of Sandrone / Odette / CMC and both an Electro and Anemo character. However, Radiance: Stellar-Conduct will take priority over Radiance: Stellar Swirl for those characters. They will always deal Stellar-Conduct damage.

Stellar-Conduct Direct Damage

What Is 'Direct' Stellar-Conduct Damage?

Several talents of Stellar-Conduct related characters will deal so-called Stellar-Conduct Damage. The Stellar-Conduct Reaction itself deals no damage, so this is the only form of Stellar-Conduct damage. It is directly equivalent to how Lunar and Stellar Swirl damage work.

Regular Elemental Damage:

  • Is calculated and deals damage with Elemental DMG Bonus. If an attack is Pyro it will scale on Pyro DMG Bonus, if an attack is Cryo it will scale on Cryo DMG Bonus, etc.
  • Is able to apply the corresponding Element to the enemy, and thus trigger Elemental Reactions.
  • Does not interact with Elemental Mastery unless it triggers Vaporize or Melt.

Stellar-Conduct Direct Damage:

  • Does not interact with regular Elemental DMG Bonus, regardless of Element. There are separate sources of Stellar-Conduct / Stellar Glimmer DMG Bonus, which correspondingly don't interact with damage that isn't Stellar.
  • Is not able to apply Element to the enemy. It cannot trigger Elemental Reactions, and it won't contribute to the Polestar Field's stack count.
  • Most importantly: Elemental Mastery is directly converted to DMG Bonus. The more Elemental Mastery you have, the more Stellar DMG Bonus you gain. Like with all other Elemental Mastery interactions, this effect is at its strongest at low Elemental Mastery and gets progressively relatively worse with more EM. This DMG Bonus stacks with other sources of Stellar DMG Bonus.

Best Stellar-Conduct Teams

Dedicated Stellar-Conduct teams currently comprise several of the best teams available at all investment levels, although they particularly stand out at low and medium investment. The on-fielders and Supports alike are powerful and relatively flexible with their damage, allowing them to tackle fairly wide ranges of endgame content.

Stellar-Conduct teams will generally be comprised of:

  • A dedicated Stellar-Conduct on-fielder (though there are a few viable non-dedicated ones)
  • Your strongest dedicated Stellar Supports
  • A flexible 4th slot with many viable options

Stellar-Conduct On-fielders

Dedicated On-fielders

SandroneWriothesleyTraveler (Cryo)Cyno

Roughly in order of viability at C0R0 investment against relatively neutral content, although they will move around depending on your investment and the specific endgame scenario you're using them in.

  • Sandrone's Constellations aren't very good, whereas Wriothesley's and Cyno's are; Traveler (Cryo) doesn't have any.
  • Cyno's Staff of the Scarlet Sands is much stronger than A Teaspoon of Transcendence and Cashflow Supervision in relative terms, although it's still not enough to necessarily catch up with either Wrio or Sandrone.

Non-Dedicated On-fielders

Lohen SkirkClorinde

and other assorted Cryo / Electro on-fielders like Raiden Shogun

  • Lohen fits by far the best. His damage does not take a significant hit compared to many of his other teams, and he has significant enough Cryo Application to near max the Polestar Field.
  • Skirk's damage takes a massive hit, but she is strong enough and functional to make it work if necessary.
  • Clorinde is similar to Lohen, though her damage is not quite as high. She will improve once she gains access to her free C1.

Stellar-Conduct Supports

Yae Miko

Her Witch's Revelation buffs have made Yae Miko into by far the strongest Electro slot for all Stellar-Conduct teams. Incredible personal DPS and a strong buff with her free C1 make her be a 30-40% team DPS upgrade from almost all other Electro slots. C6 Alyosha is the only who can whatsoever compete, and he still falls short by about 15-20%.

Odette

The latest 5 star of Genshin is the only other unit with an impact similar to Yae Miko's on Stellar-Conduct teams, and arguably an even bigger one for Wriothesley and Cyno. Odette is very similar to Yae Miko in function, though with typically lower personal DPS and higher buffing.

Traveler (Cryo)

The Cryo Traveler can also play out a dual DPS setup with other Stellar-Conduct carries, and this can be very strong for many of them, although not often the best option. They are not a replacement for Odette, and typically fall quite a bit short of her.

AlyoshaQiqi DionaBeidou

The other dedicated Stellar-Conduct supports, although they don't deal any Stellar-Conduct damage themselves (with the exception of Qiqi's Elemental Burst, which you don't want to use without her Constellation 6).

  • Both Diona and Beidou are fully reliant on their Constellation 6 to become viable options, whereas Alyosha is playable but subpar without it.
  • These slots do not compete with Yae Miko or Odette in terms of DPS, and will generally want to play alongside them instead.
  • Note that Wriothesley will want to avoid any healing in his teams.

Other Supports

SucroseEscoffier

Sucrose's buffs are as powerful as for any Elemental Mastery team, and her ability to provide additional Cryo or Electro Elemental Application with her Burst makes her even more valuable. Sucrose will trigger some additional Stellar Swirls, adding another layer of damage. Sucrose gains best value by swapping into her twice per rotation in order to maintain buff uptime.

Escoffier is a strong and easy to use RES Shredder for the Cryo carries. Her personal damage takes a significant hit and her Burst is generally not worth using, but the RES Shred and Energy are valuable.

NicoleXilonen

Nicole and Xilonen tend to be worse than Sucrose and Escoffier in terms of damage, at least without their Constellations. Nicole has the advantage of providing a strong shield, which is particularly relevant for Wriothesley.

Full Team Examples

Sandrone - Odette - Yae Miko - Qiqi

Arguably the overall most content applicable and useful Stellar-Conduct team. It is able to comfortably and immediately begin dealing damage in Stygian Onslaught, has little Energy issues, strong healing thanks to Qiqi, and overall excellent damage.

Example Rotation:

  1. Yae Miko Skill x3
  2. Odette Skill + Enhanced Skill
  3. Qiqi Skill
  4. Sandrone [ Charged Attack + Skill ] x3 + Burst

Wriothesley - Odette - Beidou - Escoffier

An alternative without Yae Miko, although it really wants Wriothesley's C1 to do proper rotations. Wriothesley's C2 is just as valuable as Yae Miko in this team, making for a viable vertical alternative.

Traveler (Cryo) - Odette - Yae Miko - Sucrose

Cryo Traveler benefits particularly well from Sucrose's short cooldowns. They love running on as short as possible rotations, and this team allows for a rotation as short as 15 seconds.

Example Rotation:

  1. Yae Miko Skill x3
  2. Odette Skill + Enhanced Skill
  3. Sucrose N1 + Skill or Burst
  4. Traveler (Cryo) Skill + 2N2C + Burst + 2-3 N2C
  5. Sucrose N1 + Skill or Burst

Cyno - Traveler (Cryo) - Yae Miko - Qiqi

An example of a dual DPS setup with Cyno and CMC, where CMC replaces Odette as the Stellar-Conduct enabler. Cyno will spend far less on-field time here as he has to cede 5 seconds to the Cryo Traveler.

Example Rotation:

  1. Yae Miko Skill x3
  2. Qiqi Skill
  3. Traveler (Cryo) Skill + 2N2C + Burst
  4. Cyno 2 or 3 Endseer combo
