Overview

Probably Stolen is the newest fixation for any gamer looking to become a cyberpunk shopkeeper. On the day-to-day operations you'll be in charge of haggling with customers, managing your inventory, and keeping the rent paid. One of the mechanics you'll want to know about as you progress is how to efficiently become a master gunsmith. In this guide we'll go over some must know tips, and how to get started.

Becoming A Weapon Trader

Before you start your journey, it's recommended that you choose the Gunsmith specialization for your run. Doing this will let you start off with the Class I Weapon Permit, something very useful for starting this trade. You'll also get a headstart with a selection of firearms, mods, and ammunition.

Starting perks will vary based on your personal taste, but some personal recommendations of mine are to go with Savings & Diplomatic. Feel free to play around though, as your starting perks aren't always the end of the world.

Assuming you chose not to start with said specialization, you will need to instead most likely need to get hold of the Retired Gunsmith, which can be found in the wild for 650 Credits. This is currently what most users are reporting as the fastest way into this specialization without the starter.

Understanding Customer Orders

Going with the assumption that you already have weapons of your own on hand, let's go over how orders are going to work.

A customer will approach your store, more than likely explaining how they are looking for a specific firearm. They'll be after a firearm that matches a specific list of minimum stats. These stats can be seen under the "Base Requirements" section of the order, and must be filled out in order to make a trade.

You'll also have the option for "Bonus Requirements" which when fulfilled will net you bonus Credits upon completing the sale.

By placing a weapon on to the counter, you'll see the HUD update with the stats (in the parenthesis) you currently are offering. In the picture above, you can see that our pistol is lacking the necessary accuracy for the bonus.

To combat this, you can equip attachments to the guns by simply dragging and dropping them on top. By hovering over each attachment, you'll see what value it will bring to the stats of the weapon it's equipped on.

You can also unequip attachments on weapons by double clicking the weapon, and manually removing any you don't want.

It is also possible that you'll get customers bringing in their own guns, looking for a servicing. For these orders, you simply need to fit the parts they're after based on the request. Once done, you'll complete the order, and often times charge them an extra fee on top of the cost of the parts expended.

Using The 3D Printer

Perhaps the most important part of being a gunsmith in Probably Stolen is the printer. You'll be using it to craft most of what you'll be using in your trades, or at the very least to improve them. By placing in a chip for the specific crafting recipe, you can directly pump out items like guns, attachments, melee weapons, and more.

With the chip supplied, and the materials required in the input box, you can go to sleep. When you wake up, you should have a violent little surprise awaiting you in the printer.

Be aware that like most machines in the game, the printer will need an Energy Cell to power when used.

Modules are a big part of printing. Most modules will come with their own benefit, and occasionally a downside. You can see a list of some of those modules below, to get a better idea of what to expect.

Glitched: -15% Efficiency, +15% Performance
Performance: +16% Performance
Quality: +8% Quality
Eco: -16% Peformance, +32% Efficiency
Efficiency: +16% Efficiency

A cool tip to know with Modules is that they don't just improve your crafted items. Take for example the Performance stat, which will speed up the rate at which items are printed, reducing the wait overall.

It's important to point out when crafting with the printer that you can't just instantly make items right away. For this reason, it's best to either always have something being made, or have multiple printers going at once to speed up production.

Where To Get Chips?

Since there's a large variety of things you can print, you're probably wondering where to get your hands on them. The easiest way I've found so far is to wait for a Retired Gunsmith to visit your store. Often times, you'll find he's selling a large amount of chips, all of which you can use to craft various items.

Upgrading Your Inventory

In order to start advancing into higher valuables such as submachine guns or shotguns, you'll first need to purchase the higher level permits from Wild's Network. This won't be readily available to everyone though, and will require you to have a higher Security Reputation.

If you're low on reputation, you can get more by reporting wanted criminals. Just be aware that doing this can affect your relationships, and potential benefits of keeping fugitives around.

Conclusion

Hopefully this guide helps you get up and running as a weapon trader early in Probably Stolen. If you want to check the game out for yourself, take a look at their Steam Page. Have fun out there, and try not to get caught off guard by any bad actors ;)
