Applied Gathering Handbook
Each Work Suitability has an associated Handbook that can be given to a Pal to increase the relevant stat. Gathering's Handbook, called Applied Gathering Handbook, means that any Pal in the game can achieve Gathering Level 10.
Unfortunately, these books are incredibly rare. They are primarily found:
- Purchasable from Medal Merchants for 300 Dog Coins
- Found in Treasure Boxes

Once you have a setup capable of being utilized by your Gathering focused Pals, here is a list of the structures that will make use of the trait:

Best Gathering Pals
Jetragon
The best Gathering Pal is 
Jetragon, as it has the highest base stat at 8. It can reach level 10 at only rank 2 through using the Pal Condenser.
Jetragon is also one of the greatest flying mounts in the game, giving you extra reason to want to acquire it.
Jetragon spawns in the upper top right portion of Sunreach.
Frostallion Noct
Another great option is 
Frostallion Noct, with a base stat of 7 on Gathering. Using the Pal Condenser to get it to rank 3 will unlock Gathering level 10.
Frostallion Noct can be found in the top right corner of the map.
Hartalis
Next, we have the 
Hartalis. Aside from the standard Level 7 Gathering, it also comes with an added Level 7 lumbering, serving as a nice extra. It can achieve max Gathering at rank 4.
In addition to its high Gathering stat, Hartalis is also regarded as the best ground mount due to its high speed and triple jump.
Starryon Primo
Finally, 
Starryon Primo is another great choice as a main Gathering focused Pal. Much like the previously mentioned Pals it has a base stat of 7 Gathering and can achieve level 10 through the Pal Condenser.
Starryon Primo spawns in the center area of the World Tree.
Free +1 Gathering Point: Clovee
All traits have the ability to have their points boosted globally by +1 by having a specific Pal present at your base. This ability does not stack. In the case of Gathering, the Pal you will need present at your base is
