So for this Onimusha Way Of The Sword guide, I'm going to be showing you the locations of all of the Genma Notes to achieve the Genma-ologist trophy.
It is recommended that you get towards the end of the game, right before the point of no return to complete this, you can make a fresh save at this point and clear up all of these in 1 go.
There will be 1 to collect right after the very final boss but I will show you this one at the end of the guide, for now, lets clear up the 22 that are located across all of the maps.
Using the map below, make your way to this location and look towards the gate with corruption on it. Using your Oni Vision here will reveal the symbol to examine and the chest will appear from here.
Togemaru Genma Note
Make your way to the location shown on the map below, in this area there will be a number of enemies to defeat. In the first area, make your way around the back of the building with the red balcony beams and into the gardeny area, after eliminating the enemies in this section as well, use the Oni Vision by the small shrine against the wall, the chest will appear after examining the symbol and the next Genma Note will be inside.
Kogai Genma Note
Make your way to the area as shown on the map below, here you will need to crawl under a bunch of broken wood to reach the back of the area. Head to the right towards the building where there is an enemy stood in the doorway. After defeating him, make your way inside and to the left to see stacked up wicker boxes. Use your Oni Vision here to reveal the symbol and the chest with the next Genma Note inside.
Kubi Akari Genma Note
Making your way over to the west edge of Eastern Kyoto, head to the location shown on the map below, there will be a number of enemies to defeat here, and once they are taken care of, look to the left under a small gazebo, use your Oni Vision here and the symbol will appear to examine, revealing the chest with the next Genma Note.
Ifuu Genma Note
Burai Genma Note
Now head into the temple where you fought Ifuu and Burai, using your Oni Vision in the back left and right of the room, will reveal two symbols to examine and a chest will appear at each with both the Ifuu Genma Note inside and the Burai Genma Note in the other.
Benkei Genma Note
Make your way to the bottom west peninsular on the map, there will be a number of enemies to take on here. After doing so, head all the way to the end of the bridge where the wall of corruption is, use your Oni Vision to reveal the symbol and chest with the next Genma Note inside.
Rasho-Gan Genma Note
Make your way into the area where you fought Rasho-Gan, and just by the large corrupted plant, using your Oni Vision here will reveal the symbol and chest containing this Genma Note.
Byakue Genma Note
Make your way over to the Kiyomizu-zaka Slope fast travel point, looking at the houses opposite and slightly to the left, use your Oni Vision at the rooves, you will see the next symbol appear on the left house roof. To get there, head right from the fast travel, and there will be a ladder up to the rooves, make your way across to the left to examine the symbol and open the chest with this Genma Note.
Dohatsu-ten Genma Note
Make your way to the very lower eastern section of Eastern Kyoto, into the open area as shown on the map below. There will be a number of enemies to take on here, after doing so, use your Oni Vision towards the broken building, here will be the symbol to examine for the next chest, containing this Genma Note.
The final Genma Note is found in Eastern Kyoto but must be collected at the very end of the game, after the final boss, so for now, continue collecting all of the others and I will show you the location of the final one at the end of the guide.
Kiyomizu-dera Temple
Hitotsume Sho Genma Note
Using the nearest Spirit Mirror, make your way now to Kiyomizu-dera Temple and specifically to the Temple Grounds fast travel. Make your way up to the northern most building, and inside on the right wall, use your Oni Vision to reveal the symbol and chest with this Genma Note.
Sasaki Ganryu Genma Note
Now make it to the main building in the center of the area and out onto the balcony, head to the front right corner and use your Oni Vision to reveal the symbol, with the chest for this Genma Note inside.
Oni Refuge
Daidara Genma Note
Make your way to Oni Refuge now from a nearby Spirit Mirror, and specifically fast travel to the Shrine Grounds. Make it up into the large open space, north from this fast travel, and using your Oni Vision at the top of the area, will reveal the symbol to examine for the chest with this Genma Note.
Nijo-jo Castle
Nue Genma Note
Now using a nearby Spirit Mirror, make your way to Nijo-jo Castle and specifically to Nue Pond. From here, head north into the area where you fought Nue, use your Oni Vision by the fencing at the top of the area, and the symbol will appear to examine and reveal the chest with this Genma Note inside.
Underground Laboratory
Chijiko Genma Note
Using a nearby Spirit Mirror, make it to the Underground Laboratory and specifically to Underground Level 2. From here, make it to the bottom right section of the map, as shown below, and using your Oni Vision in this dead end room will reveal the symbol and the chest with this Genma Note.
Kogashira Genma Note
Now make your way to the Grand Theatre fast travel point and from here, head to the left, and past the lift to go down, there will be a small area here to use your Oni Vision by some old wood and carts, the symbol will reveal itself with the chest containing this Genma Note inside.
Kyoto Imperial Palace
Greater Nue Genma Note
Using a nearby Spirit Mirror, make it now to Kyoto Imperial Palace and specifically to Oikeniwa Pond Garden. Head north from here into the large open space, there will be a number of enemies to take out here, once they are taken care of, in the top left of the area use your Oni Vision to reveal the symbol for the chest with the Genma Note inside.
Mount Oe
Oboro Garasu Genma Note
Now using another nearby Spirit Mirror, make your way to Mount Oe, and specifically to the Cave Area. Once here, make your way to the bridge, looking to the right, you will see a rock edge you can make it to, if you use your Oni Vision as you make it all the way around to this rock, the symbol will appear at the edge, with the chest for this Genma Note.
Hirehime Genma Note
Now make your way specifically to Ruins Area II fast travel, and head down the nearby ladder to get to the Valley area. Make your way to the point as shown on the map below, there will be a number of enemies to to take out here. After doing so, break the vases at the end of the path and use your Oni Vision to reveal the symbol to examine, with the chest for this Genma Note.
Shuten Doji Genma Note
Now making a fast travel to the Mountain Trail fast travel, head over the large bridge towards the castle. Keeping on the ground level, run around the edge of the house and in the very back corner of this gardeny area, use your Oni Vision for the next symbol and chest containing this Genma Note.
Arashiyama
Mohja Genma Note
Now using a nearby Spirit Mirror, fast travel to Arashiyama and specifically to the Mountain Trail here. Once you make it, travel south to the more open area, there will be a number of enemies here to defeat. After doing so, make it down to the bottom corner of the area, use your Oni Vision, and you will have to climb a small ledge to make it to the symbol for the chest with this Genma Note.
Dokyo Genma Note
Now you will want to fast travel to Horin-ji Temple specifically and out into the big open area where you fought Dokyo. Roughly in the center of this area, in a puddle, will be where the symbol is and the chest for this Genma Note.
Final Genma Note
Yoshitsune Genma Note
Now you have collected all of the first Genma Notes, you can go past the point of no return in Eastern Kyoto. Once you have defeated Yoshitsune and have completed the game, after the credits, you will be able to continue from where you left off from the save you should have made.
Make your way to the location as shown on the map below, head out into the garden area and in the back corner you can use your Oni Vision to reveal the symbol for the final chest for Yoshitsune's Genma Note.
Once you have collected this final one, your Genma-ologist trophy should pop!
