What is the Soul Harvest Event?

Soul Harvest is the Season 1 in-game event for Mistfall Hunters, unlocking new enemies and mechanics in which players must defend an Altar to cash in exclusive event tokens. This is a time-limited event that will only be available during Season 1, so make sure to participate and obtain your rewards before the Season ends later this year.

In this guide, you'll learn everything you need about the Soul Harvest event, including how to trigger it and the exact steps you'll need to follow to obtain the exclusive loot.

Obtaining Soul Cocoons during matches

The Soul Harvest event has a chance to activate during matches in Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde. Not all matches will trigger the event, but it will appear more often during higher difficulty matches, like Chaos and Cataclysm.

When the Soul Harvest activates, Soul Incubator enemies and Fate Altars will spawn on the map. These are the two key elements of the Soul Harvest.

Locate Soul Incubator Enemies

During Soul Harvest, you'll see Soul Cocoon icons on the map, showing the location of Soul Incubator enemies.

These are Elite variations of regular enemies with a blue glow. They carry a Soul Cocoon, which can be looted after defeating them.

Carrying Soul Cocoons

When your team obtains a Soul Cocoon, it will resonate. This will mark the locations of all other Soul Cocoons on your map, and will reveal your location to other players holding Soul Cocoons as well.

Since your location is revealed, other players are more likely to find you and fight you for your Soul Cocoon, so be on the lookout for enemies.

Performing the Soul Harvest Ritual

Soul Cocoons do not hold any value by themselves; you must complete the Soul Harvest Ritual by defending the Fate Altar to cash in the exclusive event rewards.

Activating Fate Altars

During a Soul Harvest match, the Fate Altars will unlock after a certain time (Usually around 5 minutes after the match starts). These Altars are required to perform the Soul Harvest Ritual.

Fate Altars are shown on the Map, with a countdown to their activation. You must deliver 2 Soul Cocoons to start the Purification Ritual.

Defeat the Soulgnawer Boss

Upon starting the Ritual, a Soulgnawer boss will spawn nearby. You must defeat it to continue the Ritual. This enemy mainly attacks by dashing forward and slashing its blades around itself.

A simple way to beat this boss is for an ally to drag its attention while the other two players burst it down. This works best with classes that can Block, like the Mercenary (Sword & Shield), or those with high mobility like the Shadowstrix.

Make sure to loot the Soulgnawer after defeating it, as it can drop Legendary and Holy tier items.

Defend the Fate Altar and Complete the Ritual

After defeating the Soulgnawer, go back to the Fate Altar to start a 5-minute countdown until the Ritual completes. During this time, more Soul Incubator enemies spawn nearby. Defeating these special enemies reduces the remaining time by 20 seconds for each one defeated.

Enemy players can seize control of the Fate Altar by interacting with it. You must reclaim it before the countdown ends - Otherwise, your team will not receive any rewards, and they will go to the enemy team.

Claim Rewards after the Ritual

When completing the Soul Harvest Ritual, you will immediately receive special Soul Cocoon tokens, which are sent to the Camp directly - Which means that, even if you die on your way to extract, you'll still receive the full Soul Harvest rewards.

If you are unable to complete the Ritual, you can still trade your in-match Soul Cocoon items with Richie, the in-game merchant, for lower-value loot. This can be a safer strategy if you are not in a position to compete with other teams.

Trade Rewards in the New Mistchaser Shop

Stinger is a new NPC that appears in the Windrest Camp during Season 1. You can trade your Soul Harvest rewards with him for a variety of items, including the Season-exclusive Holy-quality collectible Soulbound Serpent Crystal, Holy Material Selection Chest, Moonlight Nectar, and Soul Coins.

There are three tiers of Soul Cocoon tokens, each having its own Shop:

  • Glimmer Soul Cocoon: Obtained during regular Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde matches.
  • Brightsilver Soul Cocoon: Obtained during Chaos Hallowgrove matches.
  • Aureate Soul Cocoon: Obtained during Cataclysm Brandrgarde matches.

Soul Harvest Tips and Tricks

The Soul Harvest event can be challenging to pull off, as it promotes PvP, and teams must stay alive for a prolonged time to complete the Purification Ritual. These tips and tricks will help you come out on top during the Soul Harvest.

Ambush Enemies with Soul Cocoons

When you carry a Soul Cocoon, you'll see the location of other enemies who carry one as well. You can sneak from behind or from elevated ground to start a fight on favorable terms. The Soul Cocoon icon shows an approximate location on the map, making it difficult for enemies to pinpoint your exact location.

Drop a Soul Cocoon as Bait

Most enemies will try to fight you for your Soul Cocoons. You can drop the item on the ground to bait enemies, who will see the location where the Cocoon was dropped, while your team's location will be hidden once again. This makes for an easy opportunity to ambush enemies who fall for the bait. You can use this strategy if your team has good ambush synergy.

Claim Enemy Fate Altars

If another team has started the Purification Ritual, you can interact with the Altar to claim control of it. The team that is in control of the Altar when the countdown ends will receive all the rewards.

When seizing an enemy Altar, you should first look to ambush and take down at least one enemy player. This will give your team the numbers advantage to maneuver around the Altar and control it.

Don't Rush to Reclaim Your Altar

If an enemy team seizes control of your Fate Altar, there is no need to rush to reclaim it. You must only control it when the countdown ends. This gives you plenty of time to regroup and siege the location, whilst the other team has to deal with multiple nearby enemies and your attacks at the same time.

Look for picks on isolated players and do not rush on the offensive if there is plenty of time left.
