Today we're going to be sharing a 1 - 45 leveling guide for the Jotunn in Season 10 of Hero Siege. While originally meant for Season 9, it should serve you just fine in the newest season throughout normal mode. We'll go over how to start, the gear loadout recommended, and also the skill spec!
Thanks to @JuxtAPoser for letting us share this build with you! Check out their video on the sidebar, along with other great Hero Siege content from them!
Level 1 - 15
To start off with your leveling, you should primarily take Frozen Boulder, which is extremely useful due to it being a cast skill. Alternatively you can go with Flash Freeze. However In this case, it's just recommended that you stick with Boulder, putting all 15 points into it as you progress.
Through using Boulder you should be able to easily progress through all of Act 1. While the quests along the way are completely optional, it's overall recommended to complete them for the extra EXP. Also be sure to complete the Coffee questline early on, as it's widely regarded as one of the best potions for leveling.
As for your sub-tree, here are the nodes being used for the first 15 levels. It's just a simple 30% damage boost to the skill overall. If you want you could go with a point into the node above, but it isn't needed.
Level 16 - 45
After you hit level 16, respec all of your points and place 1 point back in to Frozen Boulder. Doing this will then allow you to hit Orb Of Frost in connection to it. This will be the new skill we'll use to progress for the time being.
At this point you mainly want to have at least 12 points into OOF. If you want slightly better AOE you can also place two points into the secondary tree skills Flash Freeze and Permafrost, but it's not required. If you decide against it, just dump all of your points into OOF.
As soon as you hit level 20 and have some extra plus skills going for you (basically free points into other skills) feel free to dump a point into the passives in your tree. Often times a lot of your skills will scale with them, so it doesn't hurt to activate them in the tree when you have some points to throw around.
It's also worth noting that at this point you should have access to Portal Of Ice, which can be used as your main movement skill. From here, your skill rotation essentially becomes
Portal Of Ice on your off-key for moving around the map fast
Orb Of Frost for your main damage skill as you keep moving through acts
As you continue the climb to 40, keep making sure you're putting all of your points into OOF, but be aware that it caps at 20 points specced. When you reach this, it's a good shout to then focus on putting as many points as possible into Avatar Of Frost, for the passive DPS increase.
Orb Of Frost Tree
For the sub-tree in Orb Of Frost, here are the choices you want to make, and the reason why it's handy to choose these specific skills.
Frost Icicles, 2 Points: Mainly taken to proceed up the tree, but also increases DPS.
Coldsnap, 5 Points: Gives you cold break on hit, which will massively increase your cold damage output.
It's important to note that once you hit Level 40, you'll be able to unlock your first skill augment. At this point, take points out of Coldsnap where needed, and take Orb Of Duality on the right. You can alternatively pick Orb Of Chaining which will let your orbs chain to nearby enemies. The choice is up to you.
Attributes
For your attribute spec, you don't need much Vitality, so pick it up as needed. In the original build showcased we have Vitality at 60, but this isn't necessary unless you're playing HC. A solid baseline to remember is that your Intelligence is your skill damage, so feel out the correct balance in the game for yourself. To start with though, consider running:
Intelligence: 144
Vitality: 40
Gear & Charms
This isn't a gear dependant setup, but overall there are some recommendations you can pick up when you reach the trader in Act IV. Here's an overview of some key items we're running when leveling:
Book Of Revelations: Solid cast rate stats, in addition to general buffs for Cold and Int damage.
Magiward Battlegear: Great buffs to cold skill damage, but also your defense and resistances. Also comes with mana after each kill which is nice to have.
Swiftsoul Band: Great buffs to your Cast Rate, and also Magic Skill Damage.
Runescribe's Striders: Provides Movement Speed, and also buffs to Cast Rate & Intelligence
Lifeblood Infuser: A solid amulet you can use to give you lifesteal if survivability is an issue.
Crow's Feather: Obtained naturally during the story, and is great for passive movement speed.
Some things to keep in mind when farming for any gear used in this leveling process is that anything that says it grants "Additive" Cold damage will not apply to skills like OOF. It will only apply to physical melee builds, which primarily you are not running here.
Keep an eye out for anything with Faster Cast Rate, Skill Haste, Cold Damage, Intelligence, and Mana after kill or on hit are also super solid to find on items when leveling.
Loot Filter
Here is the loot filter used for this build. To use this filter, you can press pause, and navigate to the loot filter tab. Clicking IMPORT should give you a prompt to enter a code, which when applied will set your loot filter to the one used for this build.
The code is too long to paste, but you can find it here if you wish to use it.
