Gothic 1 Remake: How to Get Armor Early

Combat is one of the key aspects of Gothic 1 Remake, as players will battle human and monster enemies alike. Armor increases the chance of surviving fatal blows, and is a necessity in the early game, where most enemies can kill players in a few hits. Sold by Fisk in the Old Camp

Once players make their way to the Old Camp, they can find Fisk in the market area near the southern gate, who sells the Digger’s Light Trousers for 313 Ore.

This is a hefty amount of Ore in the early game, but armor is one of the most valuable ways to invest your Ore. To stock up on Ore, you can lockpick chests around the Old Camp, sell unused gear and items, and complete side quests.

Get for Free in the Free Mine

Alternatively, players can get a Digger’s Dress for Free by traveling to the Free Mine, far to the Southeast of the Map. This will avoid paying a large sum of Ore in the early game, and has the added benefit of getting loot along the way, although players will face enemies like Scavengers, Wolves, and Bloodflies.

The way to the New Mine goes through the New Camp. The best way to get there from the Old Camp is by talking to Mordrag, who sits near the southern gate. He will offer to lead the player to the New Camp and will take care of any monsters that show up along the way. 

Once in the New Camp, go up the cliff and past the dam, and then hug the cliff path forward, past the cave and the lake. It will lead you to the New Mine. Go down the path to your left and talk to Swiney. He’ll ask if you have mined Ore before - Say “Yes” and he will give you the Digger’s Dress.
