Talos Boss Guide - Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

The Talos boss fight in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse combines two combat phases with a platforming section and a timed return to the boss. You’ll need to destroy the cylinders around him, avoid explosions and fire, and switch platforms when he prepares to slam.

The second phase adds a follow-up slam, while the final countdown puts your knowledge of the platforming route to the test.

Start by making your way up toward Talos and destroying the three cylinders around him. You can tackle them in any order, but clear all three before focusing your damage on the boss.

When the circular blast indicators appear, move into a gap outside their marked areas. Safe spaces can appear on the platforms or near the ground, so choose your position based on the current pattern.

During the rotating fire attack, use the central platforms to reposition around the flames. Keep working toward any remaining cylinders whenever the route is clear.

Once the cylinders are destroyed, attack Talos and watch his arms. When he raises an arm, jump to the opposite platform to avoid the slam aimed at your position. You can then resume attacking from the other side.

Keep alternating between damage and safe positioning until the first phase ends.

After the first phase, follow the route down toward the lower section. Slide through the passage and time your dashes through the hazards, waiting for an opening before each move.

During the descent, watch the obstacles below before dropping. A controlled sequence of drops will help you avoid falling directly into an active hazard.

Near the bottom, the ground becomes unstable, so keep moving once your route is clear. In the final stretch, jump onto the middle platform to avoid being crushed, then continue through to the second arena.

Pay attention to this route as you go, because you’ll need to travel back through it during the final countdown.

Begin the second phase by destroying the cylinders around Talos again. While moving between them, look for the darker areas of the arena and use those gaps to avoid the fire.

The circular blast attacks also return. Keep checking their marked ranges and move clear before they explode, even if you’re close to destroying the final cylinder.

Once the cylinders are gone, move back into position to attack Talos. The main change is his slam: he now attacks twice in succession.

Jump to the opposite platform to avoid the first strike, then jump back to your starting platform to avoid the follow-up. Don’t stop dodging after the first impact.

When the smaller fire projectiles appear, give yourself more distance to stay out of their path. Move back in for damage once it’s safe, continuing to watch for blast circles and both slams.

After the second combat phase, a countdown begins. Start moving immediately and retrace the platforming route toward the top.

Use the route you learned during the descent, timing your jumps and dashes through the hazards. Remember the grapple point in the middle section to help with the climb.

There is a checkpoint partway through the return route, so getting caught after reaching it gives you another opportunity to continue. Keep watching the remaining time and focus on getting through the next obstacles cleanly.

Reaching Talos isn’t the end of the sequence. You still need to land the finishing attacks before the countdown expires, so aim to reach the upper arena with time left to deal damage.
