First things first, make sure you check your Research Quest before doing anything else. Click Research Quests and review all the Ecological Investigations you need to complete: there are 3 pages to check (Catch Aniimo, Aniimo Trials, and Aniimo Companions), and each quest offers different rewards, so complete them all.
Research Quests are important to complete as they give your Research Centre bonuses. With each bonus, the chances of 
Hoptail appearing increase, which means you get a higher chance of getting an elite or higher-tier Hoptail, secrets and sparkling.

On the bottom right of the event screen, you will see a Search button. It resets every few days, and you get to have 5 searches- the first 3 are free!
To find Hoptail, head to the location below. The Hoptail is found on the North side of Blitzwood. Go to the nearest Bloom, then head north to find it.
After you reach the location and capture the Hoptail, go to your Event Quests and claim any missions you have completed. After doing this, make sure you switch to Hoptail and use their combat abilities and do them now so that, if you accidentally release them, you will have already completed all the quests related to Hoptail and their abilities.
After completing some quests, you can see your Encounter Chance has increased. You will now have a higher chance of finding Hoptail during searches and encountering Perfect Hoptail.
After that, you can do your research to see whether you get an elite or higher Hoptail, or you can use an Aniipod Ultra for a guaranteed elite capture instead. After finding an Elite Hoptail, head back to your quests and claim the rewards for the quests you’ve completed to ensure you get the Sparkling Chance increase.
Your first 3 searches are free- remember that. Using the 4th or 5th search requires you to spend Vein Essence. You DO NOT have to do this! You can complete the whole event without spending anything, as long as you keep an eye on the timer/cooldown and use it when it’s available.
