Aniimo is a free-to-play, open-world RPG where players can explore the vast world of Idyll, meet unique Aniimos, unlock new abilities, and travel across the world while meeting other Pathfinders and their friends!
The core of the game revolves around using your Aniipods to capture creatures out in the world. In your time with the game, you'll be (hopefully) capturing hundreds. This guide will provide some extremely useful tips to keep in mind when you're in the act, or preparing for your next adventure in Idyll!
Where To Obtain Aniipods
In order to actually begin your capturing festivities you'll want to know some of the many locations you can obtain pods from. By far the most important thing to know about them, is that pods are naturally accrued via gameplay in the form of finding pods on the ground, opening chests, or claiming rewards in the menu.
But when it comes to purchasing higher end pods for more specific scenarios, there's a few more specific options you can take a look into. Here are just a few ways you can purchase pods, and how to do so:
Firstly starting off with the Outpost, you can trade with Joff for both basic, and pro pods. Be aware however that they come at a slightly pricey cost of 3500/7000 each. While sometimes they can be slightly discounted, it's overall not recommended to purchase pods this way, as the pods sold are easy to come by naturally.
However by learning the Master Catcher ability, you'll unlock the ability to purchase Megas, which are significantly more worth your time and credits.
As for other methods to purchase pods, be sure to check out the Mysterious Vendor in Astra. The vendor has a short, and limited stock of items that refresh daily. While not incredibly common, some players have reported finding Mega pods and more via this route, making it a solid alternate option for purchasing pods.
Lastly if you're looking for a more abstract method to getting pods, and want to do a little gambling while you do it, check out the Starwish Gachapon Game. By simply exchanging Voxel Coins for tokens, you can twist the machine for a chance at various goods, including high rarity pods. It's not the most cost-effective method due to the scarcity of Voxels in comparison to other currencies, but it's still worth noting regardless.
Don't Waste High End Pods
Now that you know how to obtain some of the more valuable pods, let's go over the biggest thing to keep in mind when using them: the right, and wrong place to do so.
The easiest way to explain this is to demonstrate it. Here I am farming a location we'll talk a little more about later. The goal for me is to capture as many of these Aniimos as possible, and you can see that I do not need high rarity pods to do so.
On the other hand, here I am capturing an Aniimo I am chasing, as I want to actively use it in my party. For this scenario, I absolutely do want to use something with a little more power than a standard pod, and as such will swap to a pod with a higher catch rate.
This will apply to most cases in the game. Higher pods cost higher amounts of credits, and as such you want to try and preserve them as much as possible.
Quick Catching
If you find yourself struggling to catch Aniimos and want to avoid spending your higher rarity pods, consider quick catching as an alternate approach.
Quick catching is the act of weakening an Aniimo to the point of submission, making it basically guaranteed to execute a catch on them with even the weakest of pods. It can be slightly more difficult than just going for a normal catch, especially if your current party is too weak, but overall is a solid option.
As I mentioned, all you need to do is weaken the Aniimo in question until they're broken, and then press the promp that shows up to do the quick catch. Doing so will almost certainly bring them in, and you'll walk away 1 Aniimo richer. Also, don't be worried about the AI of your party killing the creature in question, as most times during fights, your own Aniimo will stop attacking once the prompt shows up, giving you a chance to pull off the Quick Catch.
Tumbler Pods
While they may not be the easiest or cheapest option for captures, Tumber Pods are a fantastic way of farming large amounts of Aniimo in a short amount of time. When thrown, this large ball of cloud will roll along the ground, picking up any Aniimo it rolls over. Once the timer ends, it will stop, and the capture sequence will begin.
The Tumber will have a near guaranteed chance to capture anything inside, with a small exception on larger creatures like Ignitis. For this reason, the best way to use these pods is for mass farming in highly populated areas of the map, or during events with concentrated spawn zones.
Sleeping Captures
If you find yourself down on your luck with only basic pods to spare, a great tip to consider when catching Aniimos is the various bonuses you can get when throwing. The main two I want to talk about in this guide, are Sleeping & Backstab bonuses.
Simply put, all Aniimo have an ideal, and non-ideal bonus when it comes to being caught. Aniimo that are a higher level than you or are fleeing, will typically be much harder to catch, driving down your success rate. On the other hand, any you find that are currently sleeping or turned away from you (as indicated by the HUD) will put up less of a fight.
Unless you're trying to save time by spam throwing pods, these are two mechanics you should almost always be aiming for when capturing. Not only will it drive down failure rates, it'll give you a jumpstart when it comes to getting your hands on the more elusive creatures in the world.
Aniimo Farming
Now that you know some handy tips for capturing, here's a great spot you can reliably farm in the world for fast Aniimo capture sessions.
The location in question is known as the Mistwoods. It's littered with Aniimo, making it the perfect spot to spend an hour blasting. More specifically, here are the creatures you can expect to run into while you're in the area:
Flamerion
Hexxin
Hummin
Sparki
You'll find numerous packs of them as soon as you spawn in, all of which respawn extremely fast once captured. Doing circles in this area will net you around 50 Aniimo in under 20 minutes.
