Overview

In this Aion 2 guide, we’ll cover the Arcana system. We’ll go over the basics of the progression system, card types and set effects, enhancement, crafting cards, farming methods, and a “best-in-slot” list for each class.

Arcana is one of the most important character progression systems in Aion 2 and unlocks at character level 45. Many players can accidentally waste materials or build their cards incorrectly by opting for higher-rarity cards instead of checking what current skill bonuses their current cards give them.

Arcana Main Screen

What is Arcana?

Arcana is a modular character progression system using items called Cards. These Cards add stat bonuses and raise the levels of your Passive and Active skills.

Bear in mind that Stigma skills never roll on the Cards, so make sure you are evaluating your bonuses for the Active and Passive skills you use in your class’s rotation.

Every Card also carries passive Empyrean Lord stats on them. Those stats grant permanent passive effects like combat speed, cooldown reduction, attack, critical hit, defence, and movement speed.

Your target stats will change based on your class and build goals.

How to Acquire

Arcana Cards come from two core sources in Aion 2: Transcendence Dungeons and crafting Cards through Transmutation.

For more information on the specific Transcendence Dungeons, you can check out our Shattered Arkanis or Deus Research Base guides for more information about the Expeditions, including mechanics and tips.

Transcendence Dungeons

This serves as your primary way to acquire Arcana Cards. These group dungeons become available once your character hits Level 45 and require at least 1600 Gear Score to enter Stage 1 of each dungeon.

Transcendence Entry Requirements

Each Stage and Dungeon decides which Cards and rarity you can obtain. Higher tier Stages provide higher-grade Card rewards. Currently, each Transcendence Dungeon has four difficulty stages. Harder Stages demand a higher Gear Score requirement to enter, but provide better Cards as loot.

After clearing a Transcendence Dungeon run, you spend Odyle Energy to open the Odyle Energy Cube and claim your Arcana rewards.

Each Transcendence Dungeon drops different Arcana rewards.

Make sure to pick the right dungeon for the rewards you're after!

You can also find card drop rate details inside the Transcendence menu in-game.

Transmutation

Transmutation allows you to create Arcana cards. In order to craft a Unique Card, you will need 5 Mysterious Crystals and 2,000,000 Kina.

Arcana Transmute Screen

When Transmuting a Card, you are able to select one Additional Effect, which will be one of your class skills. We will cover more about the Additional Effects of each Card below in the Cards section.

Transmutation guarantees your selected Additional Effect. All remaining skills and enhancement bonuses roll randomly. Make sure to plan your Transmutations carefully. Poor choices can result in wasted materials and Kina.

It is generally recommended to Transmute the Chalice Card first, as the Additional Effect includes all of your skills (Passive and Active), allowing you to guarantee a skill that is required for your build.

Card Types & Set Effects

There are currently five dedicated card slots: Chalice, Parchment, Compass, Bell, and Mirror. Additionally, each Card has two Set Types: Vigor and Magic.

Each Card Type comes in a variety of grades. Each grade controls the main stat value, maximum skill levels, base item level, and enhancement cap.

  • Common: 8 main stat, +1 skill level, 20 base item level, max enhance +2
  • Rare: 12 main stat, +2 skill levels, 40 base item level, max enhance +3
  • Epic: 16 main stat, +3 skill levels, 60 base item level, max enhance +4
  • Unique: 20 main stat, +4 skill levels, 80 base item level, max enhance +5.

With each of the five cards having two Set Types, Vigor and Magic, you are able to equip 2 or 4 matching Cards to trigger set bonuses known as Set Effects.

Arcana Set Effects

Set Effects matter less than getting the right skill lines for your build, so make sure you are only looking into your Set Effects later on.

Primal Vigor

2 Set: +60 PvE Attack while HP ≥70%

4-Set: +150 PvE Attack while HP ≥70%

Magic Armor
