Build Overview

The Zeal Paladin Build Guide teaches you about Gear, Skills, Paragon, Playstyle & Seasonal Mechanics in Diablo 4 Season 14.

Zeal is a Zealot Core Skill that focuses on dealing the most possible damage through stacking Fervor. Zeal has been an incredibly popular skill back in Diablo 2 and has now returned in new glory! Once you have access to the Unique Red Sermon, your Zeal will slash through foes like a Knife through Butter.

    • Can also have Aspect of Interdiction there.

  • Crown of Lucion provides [x]58.5% damage when Mythic, but requires you meet certain thresholds to get the most out of it:
    • Enough Faith Regeneration to sustain our cost increase: 1 Faith Regen Affix should be enough since we get Faith from Berú of Dauntless Faith casting Rally.
    • 6 Second or less Fanaticism Aura Cooldown to sustain Crown of Lucion stacks.
  • Fists of Fate IS ONLY WORTH IT WHEN MYTHIC!

Oaths
  1. Cast Fortress for the damage buff Resolve Damage Bonus Fortress provides.
    1. Re-Cast to move the Fortress.
    2. When Bossing swap Barricade to Rampart of Thorns for higher uptime.
    3. When using Rampart of Thorns avoid casting a new Fortress before the old one expires or it will bug out.
  2. Use Condemn to group up enemies, apply Vulnerable and get a 30% Movement Speed buff that exceeds the 200% soft-cap.
  3. Use Fanaticism Aura and Defiance Aura for their buffs and to lower Cooldowns with Resplendence Glyph.
    1. This is important to maintain high Fortress uptime.
    2. Casting Fanaticism Aura and Defiance Aura on Cooldown is important to maintainCrown of Lucion's buff.
    3. Ideally they should be cast in a staggered order because they are bugged and sometimes won't let you cast before the 6 seconds mark despite the cooldown being lower than 6.
    4. Spamming them is also an option.
  4. Cast Rally often to keep it at 3 stacks.
    1. Embattled Aspect + Zealot Oath makes it so you heal back to full instantly

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I deal damage?

Red Sermon makes Zeal get the Death or Glory upgrade for free, this increases damage massively at the cost of 10% Maximum Life per Cast. In order to counteract this downside, we must use Embattled Aspect and make use of the massive Fortify Zealot Oath provides us.

Resolve Damage Bonus Fortress and Aspect of Glynn's Anvil make it very enticing to stack Maximum Resolve. We also benefit by using Aspect of Interdiction alongside Aspect of Redirected Force.

In order to have high uptime on Fortress, we use Fanaticism Aura and Defiance Aura with Resplendence to lower our Cooldowns every time we cast them.

Why do I have Rally in my bars even though the Talisman auto-casts it?

  • When using Words of Sacrifice we can manually cast it up to 3 stacks.
    • We get 60% Movement Speed and 15% Crit Chance.

Why do I have no Crit Chance on my gear?

  • We can get up to 99% Crit Chance for free:
    • Fanaticism Aura 16%
    • The Penitent's Aspect 15%
    • Death or Glory 20%
    • Critical Strike Chance RallyWords of Sacrifice 15%
    • Base Crit 5%
    • Stats 1%
    • Weapon Tempering 15%

Why do I have almost no Attack Speed on my gear?

  • We get up to 82.9% Attack Speed for free:
    • Fanaticism Aura 40%
    • Preacher 15%
    • Paragon Board 27.9%

How do I auto-cast my abilities?

To auto-cast Rally, Condemn, Fanaticism Aura and Defiance Aura you have to use the Numlock trick.

  1. Bind your Keybinds to a secondary Numpad keybind like THIS.
  2. Press NUMLOCK
  3. Press and hold all your Numpad keybinds.
  4. Turn off Numlock
  5. Release the keybinds.
  6. Your skills will auto-cast now.

If you do not have a Numpad (like me) you can use your Keyboard's App or AutoHotkey to rebind your keybinds.

When do I use Aegis and when do I use Condemn?

  • Aegis is used to aid in capping Block Chance when your Aspect of Interdiction Aspect is not maxed.
  • Condemn grants us 30% Movement Speed that exceeds the 200% soft-cap and applies Vulnerable, letting us remove Aspect of Accursed Touch.

How do I generate resolve?

  • Fortress generates an insane amount per second.

I completed all the Paragon Points what do I do now?

  • Move on to the next Variant
    • Example: Endgame -> Mythic Speedfarm

Why are we using Block Stuff with a 2H Weapon?

We can still Block with a 2H Weapon, we will just block less damage.

Block enables the powerful Aspect of Redirected Force and Aspect of Interdiction allows us to cap our Block.

Shield Bearer is not used because it is bugged and doesn't account for Aspect of Interdiction.

What are Attack Speed Breakpoints?

Because the game's server operates in frames (images), Skills can only be cast in a whole number of frames. This means, for example, that you can't cast a Skill in 10.2 frames. To extend this example further, that means that all Attack Speed values that lead to a cast time of 10.01 to 10.99 frames would mean you end up casting at 11 frames, effectively wasting all Attack Speed gains from 11 frames to 10.01.

For that reason, it is important to reach the Attack Speed Breakpoint of a frame.

You might be wondering how frames translate into actual Cast Speed. Because the server runs at 60 frames per second, the way we translate frames into Cast Speed is with the formula: 60 / Frames = Casts per Second.
