Build Overview

Arc Lash - Lashing Currents is going to revolve around its Basic ability, low cooldowns, incredibly high attack speeds to continuously refresh cooldowns and massive durability to keep us in the fight. We'll also throw in Ball Lightning, with the Ceaseless Conduit legendary and focus on Crackling currents and Ball Lightning for that added damage.

How it Plays

  1. Our initial engagement is with Teleport, followed up by a Frost Nova to freeze and apply vulnerability.
  2. We want to activate Unstable Currents during Elite packs, it’s generally a good idea to pull things toward an Elite so we don’t waste Unstable Currents.
  3. Unstable Currents does almost everything, spamming all Lightning skills every time we hit something with Arc Lash, so spam Arc Lash as much as possible when Currents is up.
  4. Use Ice Armour consistently, there’s no reason to save all of our defence spells for “Best case” as we have a decent up time, instead save “Flame Shield” for those critical moments.
  5. Attempt to grab “Crackling Energy” where you can.

How it Works

This season Arc Lash is looking up to be pretty impressive, working incredibly well with the new powers to increase its attack speed through Moorise and Ravenous. We'll be adding the buffed Crackling Energy legendary, Ceaseless Conduit and focusing more on Crackling Energy damage rolls as everything this season has become additive, meaning these rolls are a lot more beneficial than they were before.

Sanguine's Brace and Resilience on top of Vyr's Mastery should keep our Damage Reduction incredibly high, coupled with Moonrise and Ravenous for attack speed and we should be able to mow through content with our Basic Ability alone.

It may be the case that Overflowing Energy is better here to reduce cooldowns. Still, I'm anticipating the huge Cooldown reduction from our attack speed and Anticipation will be enough here to allow us to benefit from the Damage Reduction Vyr's brings, if the Damage Reduction isn't needed we can switch to Overflowing Energy.

Defensive Note: We're using the Amulet for +bonus points toward defensive skills, without the Amulet we will not have bonus points thus no defensives, to deal with this early game we'll want to subtract points from skills like Chain Lightning or Charged Bolts and place them into Ice Armour and Flame Shield. You might also choose to use Esadora's Overflowing Cameo as an Amulet, thus, you will need to rearrange some points for that as well.

Ball Lightning - Mastery

In Mastery we’ll be levelling our Ball Lightning, we choose to level this as another source of damage because of how it scales with our kit and the modifiers we take. In our build, we want a lot of attack speed for “Arc Lash”, due to this if we take “Enhanced Ball Lightning” which lets “Ball Lightning” scale with our attack speed by ticking faster, serving as a good increase in damage from one stat.

We'll also couple this with the Ball Lightning Legendary, Gravitational Aspect, allowing our Ball Lightning casts to follow us around and no longer get cancelled.

Unstable Currents - Ultimate

Our Ultimate and the source of our builds power, “Unstable Currents” is a great skill, allowing us for 10 seconds to cast random “Shock” skills, it can cast all of them, at random- and it’ll even cast them at the level we have them at, with the passives we select, so due to us focusing on “Ball Lightning” we have it levelled so that Unstable Currents is casting ours and not a “Level 1” version.

Defensives

We’ll be using all 4 of the Sorcerer's defensive abilities, allowing us the ability to survive most situations.

  • Teleport should be used mainly in my opinion to engage but can be used to retreat until you get used to the play style, this is also how you would commonly play when you don’t have the Raiments of the Infinite.
  • Ice Armour should be used when initiating, we don’t take any passives, but it’s an incredibly strong defence on its own. We do have the option of opting into its passive “Mystical Ice Armour” which increases barrier size when attacking vulnerable enemies, this can be effective if you have durability issues as we are always applying vulnerable.
  • Frost Nova is our source of Vulnerability, this is great because we can have a reasonably consistent uptime on this, due to “Glinting Arc Lash” reducing the Cooldown of this as well.
  • Flame Shield is our form of “Cleanse”, it allows us to skip out on control-impairing effects, and it also gives us a valuable boost of speed, I usually use it to break out of hard CCs or move away from ground effects that will CC me, it’s important to note here that Flame Shield also makes us “Immune”, it’s an incredibly powerful skill that gives us the ability to avoid getting one-shot.

Keystone

Vyr’s Mastery can be taken for a bit of extra damage and defence if you feel you lacking in these areas, “Overflowing Energy” works as well and both are chosen depending on what is needed more. Vyr's is a better damage reduction option for more Durability, while still retaining some damage, Overflowing Energy gives our Crackling Energy a 2nd target while also allowing shocks from Crackling Energy to reduce cooldowns.

The Keystone “Shatter” is also a viable choice but may not be as great as the other two options this season due to the overall buffs to Vyr's and Crackling Energy.

Leveling Section

Although this build doesn’t “need” Legendary Aspects to be functional and thus can be played pretty early on once you activate your ultimate, you’ll want to start your very early levels playing with Chain Lightning until you get your ultimate and Keystone. This build functions better with item modifiers such as “Cooldown Reduction”, as our ultimate “Unstable Currents” is what we’re playing around with.

The Rapid Aspect, Aspect of Control, and Aspect of Might can all be obtained from Dungeons, and you should attempt to aim for these Aspects when you can, this will give you easy access to some essential Aspects to increase damage early and give your levelling process an overall boost.

At lower levels we want to run the “Arc Lash” Enchantment and “Fireball”, to help increase our CD reduction and overall clear speed. The Arc Lash Enchantment stuns nearby enemies, allowing us to utilise “Aspect of Control” and the CD reduction on Arc Lash, although it’s brief every little helps early on.
