Here's how you get them and the quickest way to farm them.
SDUs are obtained through activities and collectibles scattered throughout Kairos. Different tasks reward different amount of tokens. Below is a complete list of SDU sources:

The best method to farm SDUs is to tackle the activities that yield 40 first. However, if you're looking to get the tokens quickly, then we recommend doing them in the following order:
Ancient Crawler > Order Silo > Safehouse > Ripper Drill Site > Order Bunker/Abandoned Auger Mine
These are the activities listed from fastest/easiest to do to slowest.
This is the easiest and fastest activity to complete. First locate the battery, then climb to the top of the Crawler to power it up and earn your 40 SDU Tokens (and vehicle paintjob)! The Crawlers are defended by enemies which are easily ignored to complete these asap.
There are 11 Ancient Crawlers, for a total of 440 SDU Tokens.

Not only do these provide the tokens, but they (alongside Safehouses) unlock fast travel points which are invaluable for traversing the map. All you need to do is find the control console overlooking the silo and defeat the enemies guarding it.
There are 9 Order Silos, for a total of 360 SDU Tokens.

Another fast travel unlock, this one takes a bit more time as you first need to locate the datapad in the nearby area before being able to claim the Safehouse which can take some time.
There are 14 Safehouses, for a total of 560 SDU Tokens.

After defeating waves of Rippers, you will need to kill the boss that spawns to claim the site. These bosses have a chance of dropping Legendary loot so you may find yourself farming these sites in future. This fight takes longer than the activities listed previously.
There are 6 Ripper Drill Sites, for a total of 240 SDU Tokens.
All Ripper Drill Site Locations
Only unlockable after defeating the Bio-Bulkhead in the mission One Fell Swoop in the Fadefields. Locate the nearby Locust cannister to open up the armored door, clear the enemies within, navigate the labyrinth, and kill the boss at the end. Like Ripper Drill Sites these bosses can drop Legendary loot but the Bunkers will generally take longer to progress through.
There are 6 Order Bunkers, for a total of 240 SDU Tokens.
All Order Bunker Locations
Like the Bunkers, the Mines take a bit time to navigate and kill the boss at the end. They are only available after completing the main mission Shadow of the Mountain in the Terminus Range.
There are 7 Abandoned Auger Mines, for a total of 280 SDU Tokens.

By completing all of the activities, you will collect 2120 SDU Tokens. This is enough to fully upgrade all your inventories (Backpack, Bank, Lost Loot) with just over 500 Tokens left for Ammo. Due to the compounding scaling nature of SDU costs you can still obtain Tier 4 of all Ammo upgrades with this amount but will need to farm the other Collectibles to fully max them out.
