First broken by gaming journalist MentalMars, Genvid Entertainment's interactive streaming series set in the Borderlands universe has officially been scrapped, citing 'creative' differences between the studio, and Gearbox Entertainment.

What We Know
Back in 2023, voice actress Angie Jho Lee made a slight mistake in listing her role as character "Aiyumi" on her portfolio, as a role she'd be playing in the upcoming title 'Borderlands 4'
This of course drew many eyes at first, but it turned out to be smoke in mirrors. The project she would actually be taking part in, is a new title under the name 'Echovision Live' - which was set to be developed by Genvid Entertainment, and overseen by Gearbox Entertainment.
According to an artist who worked on the title, the write-up for Echovision Live is as follows:
"Eight wannabe Vault Hunters are on a safari tour on Eden 6. Audiences from around the world will determine how they will survive and evolve in their dangerous adventure!"
However unfortunately, it now seems as though none of us will be stepping foot on Eden 6 to pay witness to this rowdy adventure, multiple employees have confirmed.
"The project was ultimately not released due to creative differences between Genvid and Gearbox, but the production involved extensive world-building and real-time environment development for a highly ambitious, community-driven experience."
It's a real shame, too- because judging by the plentiful amount of concept art, and real samples we have of what this game looked like, it would appear there was a substantial amount of content here.
In fact, we even have a look at the map (or one of them) from this assumed to be game.
How Would It Play
Going off of some cut UI we see below, it would appear that this would've been some form of web game that would directly connect to Twitch via an extension. The goal is seemingly to not only let your chat influence your decisions, but make them for you also.
Though given that this game was seemingly being worked on in Unreal Engine, it does make me doubt that it was being developed for web-based gameplay, as opposed to something you'd purchase and run off of your own system.
It's certainly an interesting concept, but overall I'm more shocked this was cut due to creative differences, and not for a lack of belief in the title. I'm not saying a concept like this can't work, but it just seems as though in the long run, it wouldn't do much to move the needle for the Borderlands franchise given the recent reception to Borderlands 4
One thing is for sure though, and it's that there is a TON of screenshots from this title showing not only a major level of attention to detail in environments, but also concepts. It really does seem as though the team behind this now scrapped project, had bold ambitions for it to succeed.
It's a real shame any time a project is cancelled, but the only thing which some would argue softens the blow a little, is being able to share what they worked on, instead of having it locked away in an NDA'd vault for eternity.
Who knows, maybe we'll see this concept brought back to life one day. For now though, our adventures on Eden-6 appear to be over.
