Hola friendos. It's ya boi Nootmad kicking off a series of Amon guides. Today focusing on the Cybernetics tree where I'll be breaking down every skill, augment and capstone in the tree. Hope you find it useful! If you're also interested - I'll be posting a video version of this guide (as well builds and other very useful Amon related content) on my YouTube channel, so check it out here if you're interested! Anyway, lets get stuck into it!
Amon Cybernetics Skill Tree Full Breakdown
Overview
Guide
Kicking things off...
So now. Lets get our teeth sunk into the
Cybernetics skill tree for Amon. A tree that gives a minion-esque/summoner experience with a focus on explosions and burst damage.
This tree also has a unique amon specific mechanic known as priming and detonation. When Amon activates his
Forgeskill, enemies hit by it enter a state known as “primed” in which if they die or get damaged by a forgeskill again, will detonate. dealing additional damage to the primed enemy and enemies in close proximity. Think of this like short fuse from Moze in Borderlands 3- just not the same. But kinda the same… you know what i mean.
Let’s start with the action skill.
Crucible. With this action skill, Amon summons cryo and fire axes which he can throw at enemies to damage and prime them. He can then use his forgeskill - double edge - where Amon merges his cryo and fire axe and throws it in front of him like a boomerang and any primed enemy that gets hit by double edge trigger a detonation. For those unfamiliar with Amon, a forgeskill is basically a secondary action skill. But typically more powerful and this comes at the cost of a bigger cooldown so its not as spammy
From a skill tree perspective. We’re eating good.
Trunk Skills
Tier 1
From a tier 1 perspective we got the following:
Cast Iron. Which gives Amon increased forgeskill cooldown and weapon handling.
Gathering Storm. It’s a kill skill which gives Amon increased elemental damage for a duration. This skill is not to be slept on. elemental damage and Amon go hand in hand and has some powerful synergies with other skills in his trees, and you’re going to see this skill get used A LOT in my builds
Executioner is the next skill off the rank. This one increases Amons critical hit damage AND as a kicker, the crit damage bonus is doubled after dealing melee damage. Keep in mind here that this isn’t just physical punching. Amons forge axes deal melee as well, and so do some other non weapon options like grenades.- The final tier 1 skill we have is
Get The Lead Out. Which increases amons reload speed, and reloads doubly as fast for a short duration oafter triggering a detonation.
Tier 2
in Tier 2, we start with:
Destruction Engine which gives amon increase forgeskill damage and detonation damage. And in this house, we love detonation damage- We then have
Tempered Pyre. A forgedrone skill that spawns an axe forgedrone after activating a forgeskill. This little axe boyo will chase down nearby enemies and deal incendiary melee damage. And if you activate a forgeskill again while tempered pyre is active, the duration is reset for all active forgedrones. This skill marks the start of a pseudo minion build, which ill also have a build video + written guide for in due time. So subscribe to my channel if you arent already - Then we have
Bolt Action which gives amon bonus shock damage temporarily after reloading. Think of this like selfless vengeance from Mozes shield of retribution tree in Borderlands 3. May it rest in peace - Now aside from these skills, we also start to see some augments pop up. These augments shake up the action skill in a few different ways. and the first one we see is
Axe and Stone. which gives Amon faster movement speed after damaging and enemy with a forgeaxe, and can also detonate primed enemies with a melee attack. Not just a forge-skill like it is for the base crucible action skill. Detonating a flame axe restores Action skill cooldown, and detonating a cryo axe restores ordnance cooldown. - The next augment we have is a spicy one. One that fuels a potential minion build for our boi.
Endless War makes primed enemies take increase gun damage for every stack of prime they have. And if Amon detonates a primed enemy, a new forge-axe is created that seeks out a nearby enemy
So thats tier 2. now what about tier 3?
Tier 3
- We start with
Bellows. which is quite straightforward. Bellows gives Amon increased gun damage for a duration after activating his forgeskill. - next we have
Twin Tempers. an evolution of the tempered pyre skill in tier 2. If you spec into this skill, tempered pyre spawns an additional axe forge-drone that deals cryo melee damage. However, duration for the forge-drones is reduced as a result. However, its worth it. Seeing these little axe forge-drones chase down enemies like an angry rooster brings a smile to my face - The next skill we have is
Vital Organs. Another kill skill. This one gives amon extra crit chance with guns for a duration and can stack too. pretty handy. - The final skill in the trunk is
Herald's Call which boosts Amons shock damage.
So with the trunk out of the way. We can start talking about the branches. And typically, each branch drastically changes the way Amon plays - which is pretty damn cool.
Branch 1
- we start with the
Hour of the Hammer augment. Which changes his throwable forge axes into forge hammers instead. and can choose either cryo or shock. As is standard, hitting enemies with the hammers can prime them. However - different to the forge-axes, the hammers deal area of effect damage as well as elemental melee. which brings in an additional damage source. Making it technically stronger than the forge axes, which only does elemental melee. Wink wink nudge nudge. - from a skill perspective, we start with
Tempered Ice. a forge-drone skill that spawns a hammer forge-drone whenever Amon activates his ordnance. These hammer drones deal cryo melee damage. - We then have
Cacophany, which increases Amons ordnance damage and detonation radius. - Next up, we have
Masterwork. Which increases damage and duration of the forge-drones. - Following that, we have another funny.
Endless Bombardment. This skill gives grenades a chance to refund themselves on use, as well as giving a chance for heavy ordnances a chance to refund 1 ammo upon damaging an enemy. This skill lends itself to an ordnance spam style build - so keep that in mind. - The next skill in this trunk is
Stoked. Which gives increased Fire rate for a duration. This skill also stacks. - The final skill pickup we have is
Ordained Hammer. This one now makes the hammer drones do YET ANOTHER type of damage, in the form of ordnance damage. This is extra spicy. Extra useful. Definitely worth a spec in you’re down this far in the branch. - For the capstone, we have
Snowmaul. Which changes the double-edge forge skill into a twinned forge-hammer which deals cryo melee damage to enemies that get hit AND ricochets up to 3 times between enemies. If there’s no enemies to ricochet to, it just deals damage 1 more time before deleting itself from existence. On top of all that, every-time snowmaul triggers a detonation, it ricochets an additional time.
Branch 2
- Starting the list off strong with
Blast Furnace. A passive skill that increases Amons damage dealt every-time Amon or the forge-drones crit an enemy OR trigger a detonation. This skill also stacks. Much like a pancake. Delicious. - For the Augment, we have
Blade Tempest. Instead of axes, we get pointy swords now. Which can dish out either Fire damage or shock damage, depending on what you choose. Whenever its triggered, you consume all charges and launch a flurry of swards towards an eenmy, which as expected, will trigger and/or detonate provided they are killed or hit with a forge-skill. However the key difference here is that detonated enemies from the forge-swords DO NOT deal AoE damage to nearby enemies, so keep that in mind! - We then have
Tempered Lightning. Another drone summoning skill. This time, it spawns a lightning forge-sword. Activating your action skill while a sword drone is active will partially restore the duration of all active forgedrones. - The next skill we have is
Armor of Contempt. Whenever Amon deals action skill damage, he gains overshield. This is especially useful when you account for the fact that the cybernetics tree really doesn’t have a whole lot by way of health regeneration/shield regeneration. For survivability in a green tree heavy spec, this will be worth leveraging if you struggle with survivability in combat encounters. - Next up, we have
Lightning Rod. A skill with a lot of potential Everytime Amon crits with his gun, theres a chance to spawn a lightning bolt which deals a signficant amount of damage that scales with the amount of damage that caused it to spawn in the first place. Very spicy. - We then have
Escalation, which increases the attack speed and movement speed of the forge-drones. Honestly, this skill has a fair bit of utility, as the forge-drones are quite sluggish in terms of movement. Every bit counts. - Finally we have
Honed Point, which now gives the forge-drones the chance to crit. And everytime one of the drones crit, Amons Action Skill cooldown is partially restored. very handy. - We then wrap up this branch with the
Storm Surge capstone. Storm Surge is a twinned forge-blade that gets thrown dealing shock melee damage AND spawns a forge-storm on impact, which deals shock damage over time to any enemy unlucky enough to be stuck inside.
Branch 3
- Starting with
Permafrost. Whenever Amon freezes an enemy, a cryo hazard (which is basically a puddle) spawns under them, dealing cryo damage over time for a short duration. - We follow this up with
Raging Inferno. which gives Amons action skill a chance to crit and burn enemies. - For the Augment, we have a personal favourite of mine -
Searing Cold. Which insta freezes enemies that get hit with the cryo axe from the crucible action skill - and makes the flame axes penetrate enemies. incredibly utility, and very useful for bursting down hard to kill enemies. However, keep in mind that bosses don’t get frozen. So don’t be expecting to freeze the Timekeeper solid or whatever. - We move then, into
Wildheart, which gives Amon increased status effect damage and hazard damage, further fuelling an elemental damage build if that tickles your fancy. - Next up, we have
Freezer Burn. And this ones pretty interesting. Whenever Amon deals incend damage with guns, his cryo damage increases temporarily, and vice versa. I’m sure you can put two and two together and see where this could lead (hint - more elements. more power) - We then have
Reactive Armor, which partially restores Amons shield and ordnance cooldown on detonations. Pretty handy once again - from a survivability perspective. - For the capstone, we have conflangarang. Which turns double edge into basically a massive flaming boomerang - which deals incendiary melee damage and leaves a trail of fire on the ground that does damage over time to enemies in the area. Causing a detonation with conflangarang will restore forgeskill cooldown, as does just damaging an enemy with it.
