Welcome to our series, Mobalytics User Stories! Our primary goal at Mobalytics is to help competitive gamers improve and climb. Whether you’re new to League of Legends or a long-time player that has been stuck at a rank, we believe that we can get you through. This series will tell the stories of how Mobalytics has helped different players climb to achieve their goals and break their plateaus. This User Story covers the journey of Teemo ßøŧ, an Honorable Community member of our Discord server who has been using Mobalytics since our 2017 Closed Beta. He’s a fast-learning Top laner with a GPI with tons of potential (just check that out above!). He’s used Mobalytics to climb more efficiently as he’s had less time to play matches but is still steadily climbing overall. Let’s dive in!
Mobalytics:
First off, could you tell me about your background as a gamer? Also, where are you from?
Teemo ßøŧ
I’m from Portugal and play on the EUW server. I started to play League in Season 3 after a childhood friend came to my home and saw me playing Dota 2. He told me to, “stop playing that trash” and play League with him instead.
At the beginning, I pretty much hated League. I would go 0/15 every game and do weird stuff like building 6 Warmogs on Nautilus – I died to turrets but I had lots of fun.
Mobalytics:
Haha, the good old early days. Very cool, what did you end up settling on for your main role and what drew you to it?
Teemo ßøŧ:
So when I started to play, my friend recommended me to try scaling champions like Veigar, Sion, and Nasus. So I just started to play Nasus as a Jungler but then moved to laning because I could get more stacks.
Then some years later after some moving between Jungle and Top I just decided to stick to Top lane because I could play it almost every single game without getting auto-filled.Mobalytics:
Nice. I feel like that’s an underrated part of maining a role, that’s one of the reasons I main Support [Agilio]. I have a reliable chance of getting what I want. Which champions have you mained this season?
Teemo ßøŧ:
This season, I’ve played 200 games with my top 3 champions being Nasus, Renekton, and Garen. I picked Nasus and Renekton because they are champions that are really good for learning how to play in the laning phase – also Garen because he is just busted.
Mobalytics:
When and why did you start getting serious about wanting to improve and climb the ladder?
Teemo ßøŧ:
Hm…at the end of the Season 3, I reached level 30 and decided to jump straight into ranked and managed to get placed at Silver V. However, in Season 4, I got placed at Bronze IV and I believe I was stuck there all the season.
So finally at Season 5, I decided to get serious and asked some friends who were higher ranked than me to help me. We did lots of 1 vs 1, watched a lot of streamers like SoloRenektonOnly and Valkrin, and I ended up climbing from Bronze V to Silver I.Mobalytics:
Okay got it. So before you started using Mobalytics, you were around Silver level?
Teemo ßøŧ:
Yes, I started to use Mobalytics when I was trying to get to Gold for the 1st time. I think it was during Private Beta or something.
Mobalytics:
Nice! Throughout your climb, how often would you play League? When you played, how often did you use Mobalytics?
Teemo ßøŧ:
Well, this season I didn’t play as much as past years. But depending on my mood, I could play anywhere from 3 games to 15 for the week. My current schedule doesn’t let me play more than that. I use Mobalytics pretty much every ranked game because I use the Overwolf app.
Mobalytics:
Wow, so even though you were playing less than past seasons you were still able to climb higher than before?
Teemo ßøŧ:
The first season I used Mobalytics, I peaked at Gold III and it was my highest point in League and it took me a lot of time to get there. I ended the Season at Gold IV.
But my second season with Mobalytics, it only took me three or four weeks to get to Gold IV. I think that with Mobalytics I learned how to push advantages further and solidified my play.Mobalytics:
That’s great to hear! One of our main goals is to help people climb more efficiently, especially when they have less time to play. What do you like about Mobalytics compared to other tools?
Teemo ßøŧ:
Well the GPI helps me to see my progress and to be more consistent. The in-game app is awesome because it helps me learn stuff like champion cooldowns, how good is my early game, and takes away the struggle of going to op.gg or Probuilds to find the skills I have to max. So basically, Mobalytics replaces almost every other site.
Mobalytics:
Awesome. Which would you say is your favorite feature? Between the main GPI, the Pre Game, the Stats site…
Teemo ßøŧ:
My favorite feature is GPI because I like to feel the “instant” feeling of progression. When I go there and see my numbers go up it makes me happy and makes me work harder.
Mobalytics:
Which gameplay areas would you say that it’s helped you improve in?
Teemo ßøŧ:
Well, there are three areas that I think everyone should work on, Farming, Objectives, and Survivability. Survivability being the one that gave me the most benefit. I used to die like eight times I think per game and now I die at max, four.Mobalytics:
On that note, if you could go back in time to your Bronze and Silver self, what advice would you give? Besides, of course, focusing on staying alive.
Teemo ßøŧ:
Well, the greatest tip I can give is to play easy champions and focus on farming instead of fighting. I pretty much spammed Tryndamere from Bronze V to Silver IV.
Mobalytics:
That’s a really good one. During our stream reviews we often run into Bronze players who play intense champs like Lee Sin and wonder why they aren’t climbing consistently. What are your current challenges right now at this ELO? What are your goals for next season?
Teemo ßøŧ:
Well, my biggest challenge right now is the ability to make my teammates perform better. Since I’m the only “constant” in the games it’s the hardest part. For the next season, my goal will probably be to hit high Plat or even Diamond,
Mobalytics:
Got it. Trying to enable your teammates through your play is no easy feat, especially for a Top laner in comparison to some other roles.
As far as hitting Plat or Diamond, you can do it! It seems like you learn very quickly and you’re honest with yourself and your performance, that’s incredibly valuable for improving. What feature or improvements would you like to see for our platform? And are there any games you’d like to see us expand to?
Teemo ßøŧ:
Well, I must say that I miss the Post Game window besides that I think Mobalytics is going on a good path. And for other games, the only competitive game I play at the moment is League so I can’t tell where you could go next.
Thanks for reading! We’ll be doing more Mobalytics User Stories in the future so keep an eye out. If you’d like to tell us your story, find Agilio3 #8828 on our Discord server.
