New LoR Card Set: Sejuani Revealed
In this article, we’ll give you first impressions on Sejuani and the other revealed cards from one of our resident Master-level team members, Prohibit, who hit the top 10 in NA.
Disclaimer: these impressions will be subject to change based on the rest of the cards that will be part of this set!
New keyword: Vulnerable
Vulnerable is the newest LoR keyword to be revealed along with Sejuani.
It’s a “debuff” that when granted to an enemy minion, allows you to use any of your minions to Challenge it and force it to block.
Here it is in action below:
When paired with other keywords like Frostbite, this looks like a really potent removal option that offers a lot of flexibility since you can choose any of your minions to trade.
It remains to be seen how many cards that activate Vulnerable will be included with the new set, but our team thinks it shows a lot of promise.
Sejuani’s pre-level effect is very strong since it essentially lets her Challenge and kill most units without taking damage for free.
This alone starts to edge Sejuani into the territory of pre-nerf Hecarim that didn’t really need its level up to provide immense value.
Sejuani’s level up synergizes extremely well with cards like Ember Maiden or Vladimir.
The ability provides a resourceless way to make blocking extremely unattractive but at the same time, necessary.
We like Sejuani!
I like this as an aggro card. 1 health with Tough means that you can’t ever stack up damage with Statikk Shock or chump blocks to kill it and it can gain massive value with buff cards to multiply the effectiveness of Tough while also making the Overwhelm more relevant.
Tough counts as surviving so it also makes her a convenient way to generate damage triggers off things like Ember Maiden or Transfusion in order to level Vladimir or have a way to continually use self damage cards.
Ember Maiden provides a mini Avalanche to deal with spider tokens or weak units.
She also makes flipping Vlad much more consistent by having a low cost AoE pinger – she can often ping twice reliably or even more if you can protect her.
This card is going to be a powerhouse and a linchpin for its archetype while also possibly being flexible enough to fit into other build types as a tech choice.
Stormclaw Ursine is a beefy card that has a few applications when going wide (flooding the board) and using board buffs like Windfarer Hatchling or Vanguard Sergeant to bump your wide board into large Overwhelm units.
Fury of the North
Fury of the North offers a scary Burst-speed spell that makes open attacks and trades incredibly lethal and tricky to navigate.
It isn’t quite the level of pre-nerf Mark of the Isles or Back to Back but Freljord will welcome more burst speed offensive tricks.
