How to Get Austringer in Destiny 2 – Austringer God Rolls for PvE and PvP
Season of the Haunted brought in some fan-favorite Menagerie weapons from Shadowkeep.
Austringer is the focal point of the new Opulent Weapons as this 140 RPM Adaptive Frame kinetic hand cannon was a top option in PvP a few years ago and now returns in a meta with 140 RPM hand cannons being a top option.
In the first week of Trials of Osiris, Austringer had the most kills of any weapon with 150% more kills than the 2nd highest weapon.
The Final Shape has arrived, introducing an exciting new Prismatic Subclass to Destiny 2. Be sure to explore our comprehensive Prismatic Hunter, Prismatic Warlock, and Prismatic Titan builds.
We also have guides on how to get Drang, Beloved, and CALUS Mini-Tool.
How to Get Austringer in Season of the Haunted
There are a few options to get Austringer in Season of the Haunted. Getting this weapon to drop is one thing, but getting red-frame Deepsight Resonance Weapon drops is the key.
The gist of grinding this weapon is to level up the Crown of Sorrow, complete seasonal challenges, perform the seasonal quest, and open chests in the Leviathan. Leveling up the Crown of Sorrow is the best way to control what weapons drop, and making sure they are red frames.
To upgrade the Crown of Sorrow, Figments of Darkness are used. Figments of Darkness are acquired through the weekly seasonal quest, a weekly seasonal challenge, and gaining reputation at the Crown of Sorrow via bounties, opening chests, and completing public events on the Leviathan.
The upgrades you should focus on are: Opulent Deepsight (3rd upgrade on the Channeling Tree), Focusing Deepsight (5th upgrade on the Channeling Tree), and Opulent Weapon Focusing (3rd upgrade on the Manifesting Tree).
I recommend leveling up the Manifesting Tree until the 3rd level to unlock Opulent Weapon Focusing, and then level up the Channeling Tree to unlock the Deepsight upgrades. Once Opulent Weapon Focusing is unlocked, use umbral engrams to roll for your desired Opulent Weapon using Opulent Umbral Energy from the Containment public event and Leviathan.
Then when the Channeling Tree is upgraded you will get red frame weapons guaranteed once per week from your first Opulent Chest opening and first focused weapon.
Opulent Keys are another means of getting red frame weapons. The best way to get these is through opening the final chest from world events in the Pleasure Gardens and Royal Pools on the Leviathan.
These world events are much faster than the Containment public event. You can only hold 1 Opulent Key, so be sure to use it by finding the chest listed on the description of the Opulent Key in your inventory.
How to Unlock Austringer Pattern and Craft It
5 is the magic number here. To unlock crafting for the Austringer you need to complete 5 red frame Deepsight Resonance versions of Austringer. Once that is complete you need to level up a crafted version of the weapon to unlock all of the perks that it can roll with, including enhanced perks. We are going to go over all of the available perks on the Austringer; here are the available perks for the Austringer:
Austringer PvE God Roll
- Barrel Option
- Corkscrew Rifling – Gives +5 to Handling, Range, and Stability
- Fluted Barrel – Gives +15 to Handling and +5 to Stability
- Magazine Option
- Appended Mag – Adds 2 shots to the magazine size
- Light Mag – Gives +10 reload speed and +5 Range
- Perk Column 1
- Outlaw – After a precision kill gives +70 reload and reload time is 10% faster after the addition of the extra reload stat
- Triple Tap – Landing 3 precision shots in a row gives 1 shot in to the magazine
- Perk Column 2
- Rampage – Gives a stacking damage bonus in which 3 stacks gives a 33% buff
- Frenzy – Once in combat for 12 seconds, gives +15% damage, +50 Reload Speed, and Handling
For PvE the barrels are not too important, just a matter of avoiding taking stats away. For the magazine, you are looking for reload speed or increasing the magazine size to lessen the downtime reloading.
This plays right into the first column of perks which gives shots back to the magazine through Triple Tap, or increases reload speed greatly through Outlaw.
In general, in content with higher health enemies Triple Tap gets more value as you may not kill an enemy with one magazine. Lastly, you are looking for damage in the final column.
Rampage has a greater bonus, but Frenzy is easier to keep up. Frenzy+Triple Tap works great for content with higher health enemies, and Outlaw+Rampage for content where you can kill red bar enemies in 1 or 2 shots.
Austringer PvP God Roll
- Barrel Option
- Hammer-Forged Rifling – Gives +10 to Range
- Smallbore – Gives +7 to Stability and Range
- Magazine Option
- High-Caliber Rounds – Gives +5 Range and increases Flinch applied to targets
- Ricochet Rounds – Gives +5 to Range and +10 to Stability
- Perk Column 1
- Snapshot Sights – Aim down sights 50% faster
- Eye of the Storm – Become more accurate and increase handling as health gets lower
- Perk Column 2
- Opening Shot – Increases range and accuracy on the first shot (has a 3.1-second cooldown)
- Rangefinder – Increases zoom and aim assist falloff range when aiming down sights
- Demolitionist – Kills with this weapon refund 10% of grenade energy
Range is still an important stat for hand cannons as they suffer from range falloff greatly. Stability is now a good stat to have due to flinch changes, increasing the value of Smallbore. Speaking of flinch, High-Caliber Rounds add flinch to your enemy, making duels easier which makes it a very desirable option, while Ricochet Rounds give a nice stat boost.
For column 1 Snapshot is a good neutral option that makes the weapon feel snappy and responsive, while Eye of the Storm grants performance as health gets lower, helping you finish a duel. Air Assault also gives performance through in air effectiveness as health gets lower, but in general, you should avoid actively engaging by jumping in air for a fight when you are low on health.
The last column is more of the same with Opening Shot and Rangefinder which give general performance. Rangefinder does give an extra 10% zoom, so play around with it to see if that is something you enjoy or not.
Meanwhile, Demolitionist is listed for those who have builds based around grenades. Between Demolitionist and the weapon’s To Excess intrinsic perk which gives +20 boost to Discipline and Strength, you’ll have grenades available quite often.
