Overview

Friends are often a common part of most Dooley builds, but outside of Companion Core setups they aren't usually at the forefront, and instead play more of a supporting role.

However, the latest patch made a key adjustment to how level-up enchantments work. Instead of selecting between three random enchants, we're now given a single random option (that we can see), or the choice to take a different unknown random enchant.

While this definitely nerfs the consistency of many previous enchantment-focused builds, in some rare cases this is actually a buff for two reasons.

  1. Some items have very few possible enchantments, meaning the odds are significantly higher to get certain abilities.
  2. The Shiny enchant is now accessible via level-ups. It's never been a targeted option, but it can be acquired with the random enchant roll.

Robotic Factory is a big winner thanks to these changes, turning a once insanely-rare find into a realistic opportunity.

A Game-Winning Coin Flip

This is a build that really takes off if you can land the enchantment. While this isn't always doable, the odds of success are much higher now compared to the past. In order to realistically make this work, you'll need to find a Robotic Factory before reaching level 10. Doing so will give you a 50/50 chance of getting a Shiny Robotic Factory, as the only other possible enchant it can have is Radiant.

If you started playing The Bazaar during the initial release of its Closed Beta, you'll likely recall that Robotic Factory once existed with +2 Multicast at Diamond and +1 at Gold. The same applied to Shipwreck as well, but both items were pretty quickly nerfed, and for a good reason. Adding an extra +1 Multicast across the board is insanely powerful, and that's exactly why this is worth pursuing.

As a Diamond-only item, the Robotic Factory isn't exactly the easiest find, especially before you reach level 10. While you can't exactly plan for its arrival, it's worth knowing the potential of its existence. It's a massive power spike if the coin lands in your favor!

Angry Balloon Bot

Angry Balloon Bot hasn't really seen the light of day, at least compared to the many other common Friends. Although now that both First Aiden and Miss Isles were nerfed to a four second Cooldown (previously three), Angry Balloon Bot looks pretty solid.

Its Damage output scales based on a percentage of your lost Shield, meaning two things are very important.

  1. You need a very fast and reliable source of Shield, preferably one that scales.
  2. Upgrades matter a lot to increase the percentage that Angry Balloon Bot scales its Damage. There's a pretty big difference between Silver/Gold/Diamond.

Robotic Factory definitely brings Angry Balloon Bot into the spotlight as the Multicast plays a huge role in amplifying its rate of scaling. Combined with its premium fast three second Cooldown it goes from a decent item into the carry of the build.

Kripp was fortunate to find a Deadly Angry Balloon Bot from the Weapons vendor. This definitely improved its Damage output and made finding Crit skills far less necessary than normal.

Duct Tape + The Core

Duct Tape is a must-have item alongside Angry Balloon Bot in order to reliably gain Shield, outside of a lucky Shielded enchant. Placed between the two fastest Multicasting Friends makes it trigger an insane amount of times, though The Core is a solid alternative before Robotic Factory is available.

The Core has one key purpose and that is to enable Titanium Casing. This is an incredibly reliable source of Shield scaling which is necessary to support Duct Tape, and in turn Angry Balloon Bot. Knowing this, you can definitely replace The Core with another Core, so you're free to choose a different option at the start of your run.

Supportive Items and Skills

First Aiden

First Aiden is the build's only real source of Haste, but alongside a Shiny Robotic Factory it's all it really needs. It doesn't take long to get near-permanent Haste uptime when it's being cast three times each Cooldown.

Unlike most builds that utilize First Aiden, the Healing actually becomes a lot more reliable with three times the triggers. It's a nice bit of extra defense at the beginning of the fight as Duct Tape will need time before it scales its Shield.

Chris Army Knife

Chris Army Knife is Dooley's fastest Small Friend with Shield. With the Multicast from Robotic Factory and Shield scaling from Titanium Casing it becomes a respectable second source of Shield.

This is important as it greatly improves the build's overall Shield ouput, which in turn helps scale Angry Balloon Bot much faster.

Titanium Casing

Titanium Casing is easily one of the most important skills for the build. Other Shield scaling skills could also be sufficient, but its hard to match the efficiency of Titanium Casing.

Dooley has some great exclusive skills, this being one of them, so be sure to choose that skill vendor when it's offered. Even at Gold tier Titanium Casing is fantastic, but Diamond will push it to even greater heights if you can find it.

Well-Oiled Machine

Well-Oiled Machine is another excellent Dooley-exclusive skill that also makes use of The Core. The longer the fight goes, the faster your items will trigger, which works perfectly with the Multicast and scaling.

It's skills like this and Titanium Casing that make it worth including The Core in the build. Otherwise you'd likely be better off adding other Friends that can better benefit from Robotic Factory.

Electrified Hull

Electrified Hull gives an extra jumpstart by Charging items the first four/eight (Gold/Diamond) times you Shield. While this won't last long it will trigger fast thanks to Duct Tape.

Any available accelerant can make a big difference since the build relies on its scaling. Its weakest point is at the beginning of the fight, so being able to speed things up even just by a handful of Charges can be valuable.
