Overview

Heal builds take a more defensive approach, aiming to sustain themselves in combat while scaling up for a big finale. Sometimes this is done on the battlefield, while other times it's prepared in advance.

In this guide, we'll showcase a few different end game builds, and explain some of the opening lines to help you approach the early to mid game.

While every build is viable under the right conditions, please note that a build's average strength can greatly vary with each patch. If you want a clear look at what's working, check out our Meta Builds.

Bronze Items & Opening Lines

Here are some example items and openers to look for during the first few days, based on the Bronze item pool.

Heal openers are typically built around one of four different cores.

  • Golf Clubs — The most common line centered around a single Damage scaling threat. Prioritize the fastest and most efficient quantity of Heal triggers.
  • Weights — Ideal for multi Weapon setups that utilize some Heal items. Pairs best with Kukri and/or early Restorative Weapons.
  • Money Tree + Money Furnace — Requires Cash Register support to ensure consistent scaling. Be sure to purchase every Piggy Bank you see.
  • Hammock + Bushel + Hot Stones / Matchbox — Early Burn skills help, but the main goal is to play towards Tea Set.

Note: When playing the Weights line, you may find opportunities to pivot towards a Weapon Build instead.

Economy Items

  • Money Tree — Can often fund your entire run alongside Cash Register, regardless of whether you're playing it on board.
  • Cash Register — Alongside Money Tree this is a must buy, but even without it's still solid. Just be mindful of your Stash space.
  • Business Card / Rewards Card — Always worth buying, unless your Stash space is completely occupied.
  • ATM — A great purchase for the Income boost. Only skip if you're extremely short on funds.
  • Piggy Bank / Safe / Briefcase — Ridiculously good with Money Tree, but otherwise optional.
  • Signet Ring — Provides a small amount of passive Max Health and Income, if you can spare the space.

Additional Notes

  • Jabalian Totem — You must find Herma for this to be worth considering. Regardless, it's only intended for the early to mid game.
  • Lemonade Stand — It's a big Stash commitment, but it can provide a lot of permanent scaling if well managed.

Silver Items

Here are the signpost items that enable the build, along with some mid game inclusions that help bridge the gap to the final board.

Core Items

  • Vineyard — Enables the Heal/Slow synergies, unlocking a whole new level of Damage scaling for Golf Clubs.
  • Fountain — Pairs perfectly with Golf Clubs and/or Vineyard, providing Slow utility and board-wide Charge support.
  • Cargo Shorts — One of Pyg's most flexible build enablers, if you're creative enough. While it doesn't fit in naturally, it opens the door to unique pivots.
  • Yo-Yo — The premium fast Weapon of choice for all multi Weapon scaling variants.

Mid Game Items

  • Coincure / Hypergreens — The go-to Heal/Damage scaling duo for multi Weapon setups (replaces Weights).
  • Tea Set — Converts Max Health triggers into board-wide Burn scaling. It's great with Hot Stones, Matchbox, and other fast Burn items.
  • Hogwash / Sauna — Primarily functions as additional support for Tea Set boards, but can also flex (temporarily) into other Heal setups.
  • Abacus / PenFT — Optional Value scalers that can be used with Coincure and/or Hypergreens.
  • Apropos Chapeau — A reasonable source of scaling if your board tags can enable 4-5 Multicast.
  • Globe — If you can spare the space, it's a solid way to scale your Max Health.

Economy Items

  • Masterpiece — Passively grows in Value with zero effort, but occupies a lot of Stash space.
  • Ledger — Can be useful for scaling the Value of specific items, but also demands ample space.

Golf Clubs Build

Here is our example of the final end game board. However, feel free to explore different options depending on what's available in your run.

SucculentsCard border
BandagesCard border
Uwashiwali BirdCard border
TextilesCard border

Essential Items

  • Golf Clubs — The primary carry that can eventually scale to one-shot levels. Heal scaling is generally required to ensure you can survive long enough.
  • Vineyard — Applies Slow with every Heal trigger, effectively doubling the scaling of Golf Clubs.

Upgrade Priority: Golf Clubs > Vineyard > Bandages > Textiles

Recommended Items

  • Textiles — This provides Charge support for Golf Clubs, allowing it to cast far more often. Very important for improving startup time.
  • Bandages — Pyg's fastest Heal item once upgraded. Gold/Diamond is necessary for late game.
  • Uwashiwali Bird / Succulents — The next best options for Small Heal items. Can be replaced with faster off-hero items.

Alternative Items

  • Luxury Tents — Offers Multicast support alongside its built-in cheat death. Great with Restorative Golf Clubs, or a Fiery/Toxic/Obsidian Vineyard.
  • Fountain — Can be a solid replacement for Textiles. It trades focused Charge support for a board-wide Charge.
  • Crystal Bonsai — A faster Heal item than Uwashiwali Bird and Succulents, but comes with a very risky downside.

Recommended Skills

  • Charge — Calming Heals, Hardly Workin', Mixed Message, Shield Bash
  • Cooldown Reduction — Industrialist
  • Crit Chance — Building Crescendo, Medic's Precision, Slowed Targets
  • Disruption — Initial Chill, Net Launcher
  • Haste — Healthy Jolt
  • Heal Scaling — Endurance, Huge Healer
  • Lifesteal — Quality over Quantity
  • Max Health — Backroom Dealings, Growth Spurt, Healthy Hoarder, Healthy Tip, Diamond Heart
  • Property Damage — Commercial Zoning
  • Shield — Defense Grid, Reserve Shield

Problem Solving Priority: Heal Scaling > Startup Time > Crit Chance

Money Tree Build

Here is our example of the final end game board. However, feel free to explore different options depending on what's available in your run.

KeychainCard border
Ice LugeCard border
Money TreeCard border
BalconyCard border
Luxury TentsCard border

Essential Items

  • Money Tree — It's generally only worth pursuing this build if you can land an offensive enchantment (Fiery/Toxic/Obsidian).

Upgrade Priority: Money Tree > Balcony > Keychain > Ice Luge

Recommended Items

  • Luxury Tents — Doubles the output of Money Tree and provides a valuable cheat death. It's an important way to offset the build's slow startup time.
  • Balcony — Multiplies the Value and grants much needed CDR.
  • Keychain — Enables a slower secondary activation of Money Tree for more offense and sustain.
  • Ice Luge — Slows the startup, but significantly improves the cast times for the remainder of combat. One additional Ammo recommended (but avoid extra!).

Alternative Items

  • Billboard — An in-combat Value scaler that can create absurd heights due to its percentage-based ability.
  • Gramophone — Can replace Balcony for the CDR. However, since it lacks the Value doubling aspect, pair it with Keychain instead.
  • Games Table — Board-wide Charge support that varies in power depending on the matchup.
  • Laser Security System — This has strong Damage scaling potential alongside Money Tree, but takes time to grow.

Recommended Skills

  • Cooldown Reduction — Industrialist, Long Strides, Long-term Investments, Pacifist
  • Crit Chance — Critical Investments, High-Yield Investments, Big Numbers
  • Disruption — Initial Chill, Net Launcher
  • Haste — Bold Under Pressure, Healthy Jolt
  • Heal Scaling — Boar Market, Huge Healer
  • Max Health — Backroom Dealings, Growth Spurt, Healthy Hoarder, Healthy Tip, Large Appetites, Diamond Heart
  • Property Damage — Commercial Zoning
  • Shield — Defense Grid, Reserve Shield

Problem Solving Priority: Offensive Enchant > Value Scaling > Startup Time > Crit Chance
