Kripp's Goop Flail Mak Build

Core Synergies

• Goop Flail is a one-item carry that converts Damage scaling into Poison (1:1).
• • Once you've increased its base Damage enough, it should only take one activation to win the combat (barring a few ticks of Poison).
  • This means the primary goal is to find forms of Damage scaling, along with a source of Haste/Charge to accelerate its cast time.
• Epicurean Chocolate is one of the most reliable ways to permanently increase the Damage of Goop Flail.
• • Try to prolong your PvE Encounters to get the most activations, ideally without destroying it. This may involve intentionally weakening your board.
  • Upgrade Epicurean Chocolate to Silver-tier at level 4. This will replenish its Ammo, allowing for even more scaling.
• Smelling Salts combos exceptionally well with Lag-bolt, creating an on-start Haste setup.
• • This is strong enough to remain late game viable, but will require upgrades on Smelling Salts to improve its Haste duration.
  • Cloud Wisp is a reasonable source of targeted Haste during the early game, but you'll eventually want better options later on.

Tips & Tricks

• Curio can be extremely valuable as it's the one semi-reliable place to find Lag-bolt.
• • Additionally, you can also purchase any of the Large Bronze items and Transform them with Catalysts. It's a great strategy to find Goop Flail early.
  • Definitely pick up at least one Catalyst spawner (Aludel, Cellar, Mortar & Pestle).
• Peacewrought helps provide a great Economy boost by converting cheap/unwanted items into Gold.
• • However, note that Epicurean Chocolate is still the priority for the guaranteed Bronze to Silver upgrade.
  • Ideally you're able to find B1&B2, or happen to simply purchase it at Silver-tier.
• Book of Secrets is great way to acquire more skills, and if you're lucky, you'll find sources of Damage/speed.
• • This build requires far less Stash space than other Mak builds, so it's pretty easy to hold onto extra utility items.

Core Synergies

• Viper Cane is a solid source of in-combat Damage scaling during the mid game.
• • You'll want to have some faster Poison/Regen items to trigger the scaling before Goop Flail goes off.
  • Infused Bracers can be a fair alternative if you've picked up some Self-Poison items.
  • Toxicity is excellent for the same reasons, and even better since it comes in skill form.
• Hourglass helps to provide Cooldown Reduction, but is generally better played at Gold or Diamond tier (Silver quickly falls off).
• Runic Potion can grant Lifesteal to Goop Flail, offering the build a bit of sustain.
• • However, it's far less of a priority compared to other Weapon setups since you generally won't strike more than once.

Tips & Tricks

• Keep an eye out for off-Hero synergies or pickups that can help improve the build's speed or Damage scaling.
• Given that few specific items are required, both the Crash Site and Temple Expeditions are well worth visiting (the "lost vendor" opportunity cost is very minimal).

Core Synergies

• Poppy Field is the best Damage amplifier for Goop Flail.
• • This is what truly unlocks the one-shot combo setups, as each individual hit of the Multicast will increase the subsequent hits' Damage.
• Foul Mushroom can greatly hinder opposing builds, particularly fast spamming Charge setups.
• • While not a priority inclusion, it's a solid utility item if you've got extra board space. It'll definitely hurt the enemy more than you.

Situational Variants

• Vat of Acid isn't a common choice alongside Goop Flail, but what it does showcase is the build's ability to adapt.
• • Since few items are required, you can often make use of more niche run-specific synergies.
  • In Kripp's case, this was a Heavy Vat of Acid combined with Temporal Strike for more Charge potential.
  • Boiling Flask was just the icing on the cake, turning Vat of Acid into a threat of its own (alongside the Potion-tagged Goop Flail).

Tips & Tricks

• If you can solve Damage scaling and speed, you've got an effective recipe for late game success.
• • However, it's also possible to snowball a run without an optimized board if you can get ahead early.
• Unlike many other builds sustain is less of a priority, so don't feel the need to select a Restorative/Shielded enchantment for the Goop Flail.
