Overview

How to Play Blossom — TFT Set 18: Enchanted Wilds

Blossom takes advantage of the new set trait, Wisps. Wisps appear in every other shop where they offer players advantages in one of the 7 categories: Champion, Combat, Shop, Gold/XP, Risky, Item, or Miscellaneous. This mechanic makes players make unique decisions during the Planning Phase that can alter the direction of their game and team composition.

Blossom is a vertical trait with empowered Wisps after combat and a chase trait of 11, where Wisps overflow with power. In the Blossom trait, Blossom champions gain attack damage, ability power, and bonus health. On top of this, at different thresholds, Wisps are upgraded, appear in every shop, and players gain gold per Wisp purchased, making this a potential econ trait in the right circumstances.

Blossom Champions and Synergy

Blossom has one overlapping trait within its own vertical - Spellweaver. This suggests that Spellweaver is one of the key traits in Blossom. Blossom also has plenty of options for players to create trait webs. It also has multiple high-cost units, which means this trait likely has options to cap out high in end-game boards.

  • Karma (1G) - Spellweaver
  • Yorick (1G) - Juggernaut + Summoner
  • Yunara (2G) - Executioner
  • Master Yi (3G) - Adaptor
  • Ahri (4G) - Spellweaver
  • Sett (4G) - Brawler
  • Ashe (5G) - Hunter
  • Lux (5G) - Avatar

TFT Blossom Champions

Karma (1G) - Spellweaver

tft set 18 karma

Karma is a 1 gold Spellweaver who can be paired with LeBlanc in the early game, as Spellweaver is a 2-piece trait. With a strong front line, these units can take advantage of the Spellweaver trait and take down their foes! Later in the game, Karma can be paired with another Spellweaver in the trait, Ahri.

Karma’s ability, Karmic Bond is when she tethers to her current target, dealing magic damage over seconds. Then it releases a burst around them, dealing magic damage to all enemies in a hex radius and percent slowing them for seconds.

Yorick (1G) - Juggernaut + Summoner

tft set 18 yorick

[Link to Champion Page]

Yorick has two additional traits - Juggernaut and Summoner. The Juggernaut trait makes him pair well with another 1 gold Juggernaut, Rakan. This makes this pair a strong early game option as they are both 1 gold units with the same trait.

Yorick has the ability: Last Rites. Last Rites has a passive and an active ability. For the passive, when Yorick dies, he spawns a Spirit Walker with max health. His active lets him restore health and deal physical damage to a target. Due to Yorick’s passive, building health on Yorick, such as Warmog’s will be one of his go-to builds.

Yunara (2G) - Executioner

tft set 18 yunara

[Link to Champion Page]

Yunara is an executioner with the ability Cultivation of Spirit. It is a low-cost ability as only 35 mana. With the ability, Yunara dashes, then launches an orb at the current target that deals physical damage and splits to deal physical damage to nearby enemies.

Master Yi (3G) - Adaptor

tft set 18 master yi

[Link to Champion Page]

Master Yi is an Adaptor, which is a 2, 3, or 4-piece trait where he can deal physical damage or magic damage. Master Yi is attack-based rather than mana-based. For his passive, every third attack, he hits twice for a Double Strike. On takedown, he gains a burst of movement speed. For his adaptor bonus, he either has Double Strikes grant stacking attack speed or Double Strikes deal bonus damage and heal. This means that Master Yi will build a lot of attack speed items. It is also possible that, despite his Adapter bonus to heal, he might build one healing item as well to become a drain tank on the board.

Ahri (4G) - Spellweaver

tft set 18 ahri

[Link to Champion Page]

Ahri is a 4 gold Spellweaver who easily pairs with Karma due to both sharing the Spellweaver trait. The Spellweaver trait only requires 2 units for the trait to be active, so this is great for Blossom as a trait!

Ahri has the ability Spirit Bomb, where she launches a spirit bomb at a target within hexes that has the most surrounding enemies. It deals magic damage to enemies in a hex radius, reduced by per hex away from the epicentre.

The upside of this ability is that it has the potential to do a lot of damage and even snipe carries in the backline. However, strong players will be able to position around this ability, making it harder for Ahri to carry against opponents who are aware of how it works.

Sett (4G) - Brawler

tft set 18 sett

[Link to Champion Page]

Sett is a Brawler, which makes him a good front-line option. He can pair with Gnar, who is a 5 gold Brawler, to help ensure a stronger late game as well.

Sett has the ability Haymaker, which has a passive and active ability. The passive is upon falling below max health for the first time each combat, he gains 100 mana! His active is to wind up a big punch, rapidly healing him before dealing physical damage in a large cone - very similar to his signature ability in League of Legends!

Ashe (5G) - Hunter

tft set 18 ashe

[Link to Champion Page]

Ashe is a Hunter with the ability Spirit Rift, which is a high-cost ability of 145 mana, but she starts with 70 mana. This means it is less likely for her to cast the ability twice or three times because of its high cost. The ability itself causes Ashe to fire an arrow through the longest line of enemies that deals physical damage, reduced by one per enemy hit. The arrow tears open a rift for seconds that deals max health physical damage per second to enemies within and slows them, reducing their attack speed.

Lux (5G) - Avatar

tft set 18 lux

[Link to Champion Page]

Lux is a unique 5 cost because the Avatar trait allows her to have different abilities to her ability: Final Spark. For example, the active and passive are the same each time. The passive is on cast, all allies that share a trait with Lux gain mana. If there is something that a lot of TFT players know is that gaining mana in the late game is super strong, as earlier casts can win teamfights and cause your opponent’s units sometimes to die before they are able to cast. She fires her laser towards the largest group of enemies and deals magic damage, reduced by each enemy hit.

There is then a bonus for which trait she has. For example, the Inferno Bonus is to restore mana per takedown. Coven reduces the armour and magic resistance of all targets hit for the rest of the combat. There are other traits that each has its own abilities. Lux will be a premium part of late-game boards and will likely be a unit that holds spatulas very well, as the passive makes those units gain mana.

I would not be surprised if an upgraded late-game board with Lux, Ahri, and Karma as the 3-piece Blossom bonus for Wisps sounds strong, and Lux and Ahri sound like a good combination.
