Path of Building Code

Build Overview

Flicker Strike Starter Build.

You can progress from level 1 to level 37 with regular slam build.

You'll use Ground Slam and Sunder.

And once you hit level 38, you can swap to Flicker Strike.

I'm not 100% confident, because I don't have a lot of experience with campaign / or cooking starter builds.

But when I was testing it, I felt like I created a monster. It's just SO GOOD.

Honestly I feel like it was the best starter build I've ever played, and probably one of the top starter build at the moment.

But again, I'm not 100% confident yet. Cuz I have less experience with acts. I might be wrong, maybe I'm just overhyped and overconfident.

So, if you decide to play this build, please leave a review on my youtube video.

Frenzy generation against bosses are not gonna be always perfect, but most of the time it's fine.

--

(Going to keep updating it, adding regex, and campaign filter)

(Going to Update Endgame guides ASAP too. I'll leave a link here when I make it.)

(More details in Youtube Video)

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Strong
  • Fast
  • Good QoL
  • Easy to Follow
  • Most of the time it's fine, but sometimes you can't consistently sustain frenzy charge in bossfight.

Build Variants

From Level 1 to Level 37.

Before You Swap to Flicker Strike.

Equipment

Ezomyte Axe
Vaal Gauntlets
Crusader Plate
Jade Amulet

[Importnt!!]

While Progressing acts, if you see 3~4 link gears(armours are better) with at least 1 green socket.

Make sure to keep it. you'll need it when you swap to Flicker Strike at level 38.

[Important 2!!]

Always Use Physical Damage Weapon. ALWAYS!

You can use vendor recipe to craft physical weapon.

More detailed explanation is in my youtube video, but I'll also leave recipe here.

{Recipe}

magic, rare, or unique Rustic Sash + Whetstone + weapon = New weapon with inc phys damage.

Higher rarity Rustic Sash = More inc dmg (but be careful about level requirement, if you use rare belt, level requirement is gonna be 8. if you use unique, 18.)

you can also put attack speed on crafting bench.

Even in act 10, if you use right bases, just 1 inc phys dmg mod + attack speed mod 2h axe will be strong enough to carry you to the endgame.

--

Get Jade Amulet as soon as possible. Nessa sells it from act 1.

It'll give you accuracy rating. which is VERY helpful in act 1 if you're playing Marauder.

Also, you'll still need dexterity for gear/gem requirement even in later stage of the act.

So just keep using jade amulet.

--

other gears, get 1.Resistances 2.Maximum Life 3.Armour

But it's not as important as weapon. I pushed act with not very good gears, it was still fine and smooth.

priority: 1. Versatility 2. Resolute Technique

Other nodes, you can pick nodes in any order you want.

Ascendancy Node, Crave the Slaughter is REALLY GOOD.

But problem is, Ancestral Fury is even better.

and it's MANDATORY for frenzy charge sustain.

For that reason, we're taking Ancestral Fury first.

Skills

Ground Slam
Sunder
Ruthless
Chance to Bleed
Leap Slam
Faster Attacks
Momentum
Blood and Sand
Purity of Elements
Frostblink
Blood Rage

I hate gem swapping, so I tried to make it as simple as possible.

Replace Ground Slam With Sunder when you hit level 13.

--(below is for skilled players only)

Btw, again, I tried to make it as simple as possible.

But if you're a skilled player, and if you don't mind gem swapping.

Use shield in weapon set 2 until you get Leap Slam.

And you can weapon swap, use Shield Charge for movement, or even for damage dealing also.

And replace it when you reach level 10 and be able to equip Leap Slam.

--

Later in act, you can replace Chance to Bleed Support with other support gems if you want. for example, something like Melee Physical Damage Support.

Also, you can use Intimidating Cry Or something like Vulnerability for better DPS too. (If you're a skilled player, and if you don't mind gem swapping and stuff.)

--

If you're a skilled player, you can replace Purity of Elements with other skills. For example, something like Pride.

How it Plays

It's VERY easy to play.

use Leap Slam and Frostblink for movement.

try to always turn on Blood Rage.

And you just spam your main skill. That's it.

No complicated tricks, no pianos, just 1 button except travel skills and buff skills. Simple playstyle

--

[Main Skill]

LvL 1~12 : Ground Slam

LvL 1~37 : Sunder

Lvl 38~ : Flicker Strike

--

[Bandit]

You can save alira, but you can choose other options too. it's up to you

--

[Small Tips]

1. You Need to get poacher's mark from act 3 Siossa, or act 6 Lilly Roth.

The build will still run without the mark, so personally I would just wait until act 6 rather than doing Siossa quest.

2. After swapping to Flicker Strike, you need to make sure blood rage is always turned on.

3. Upgrade your weapon if you're having DPS issue.

Check vendor recipe in my youtube video. (Magic+, higher rarity better) Rustic sash + Whetstone + any axe(whatever rarity, fine). it'll turn into a new weapon with a single phys damage modifier.

4. Armours are actually not that important, you can prioritize weapon.

Just checking gem sockets in armour might be also fine

5. Before Flicker Strike swap, make sure you prepare at least 1 [3 or 4 link with at least 1 green socket] armour.

Apparently they start to become more common from act 3, so I'm asuuming it's not gonna be hard to find one before you swap to Flicker Strike.

6. [Tribal Fury] Node is MANDATORY for Flicker Strike Swap. Also, You Better Get [Non-Vaal Strike Skills Target 1 Additional Nearby Enemy] Mastery.

7. Don't forget to loot items while early act, and vendor them to get currency.

How it Works

you progress from level 1 to 37 just like regular slam builds

And once you hit level 38, you'll have Multistrike Support and be able to sustain frenzy charge in any situation.

it allows you to play Flicker Strike Very Early.

--

Flicker Strike requires Frenzy charge to bypass cooldown.

You need to generate more frenzy charge than you spend, to keep bypassing the cooldown and keep using Flicker Strike

And we got indirect buff this league.

With 10% quality bonus from green socket, you'll have base 20% chance to gain frenzy charge on hit.

(in upcoming league, all sockets are white by default now. But you start to see more coloured sockets apparently from act 3. And when you equip gems into matching coloured sockets, the gem gets 10% additional quality.)

With Multistrike Support, you hit 3 times. so it's 60% chance now.

And with Ancestral Fury, you hit 6 times now. it also generates frenzy charge.

So now you get 1.2 frenzy charge average per skill use.

This is how we sustain frenzy charge.

--

Also, Blood Rage gives you 25% chance to gain frenzy charge when you kill enemies.

So when you're dealing with monster packs, it's even easier to always sustain maximum frenzy charge.
