Build Overview

Build Basics

Energy Blade Inquisitor is all about utilizing the crazy lightning damage from Energy Blade via Spellblade Support & Instruments of Virtue to make any hit based skill do massive damage. This archetype can be played as Self Cast, Tri-Stack Mines & even Cast On Critical Strike Support due to high amounts of built in critical chance with Righteous Providence from Inquisitor. Choose your own personal favorite spell for aesthetic or power purposes and let Energy Blade Inquisitor's overpowered scaling take it to the next level.

Primary Damage Scaling

  • Energy Blade = High Flat Lightning Damage Weapon
  • Energy Blade is based on Energy Shield #, More Energy Shield = More Damage
  • Spellblade Support + Instruments of Virtue from Inquisitor = 2.4x damage from Energy Blade applies to spells
  • Rathpith Globe with life scaling + Iron Will gives massive %increased damage
  • Rathpith Globe with life scaling + Righteous Providence allows us to cap crit chance
  • Inevitable Judgement or Lightning Penetration Support allows us to ignore enemy resistance.
  • These are the primary building blocks for scaling damage:
    • %damage(Rathpith Globe + Iron Will) + flat damage(Energy Blade) + Crit(Righteous Providence + Rathpith Globe) = Hard Hitting Damage that bypasses enemy res via Inevitable Judgement

The Defence Basics

  • Early Sanctum Gear
    • this setup is very poor defensively and optimized for just pushing some early Sanctum to earn currency to swap into Foulborn Ghostwrithe ASAP to get to mapping.
  • Foulborn Ghostwrithe
    • Giga Double Regen w/ Pious Path
    • High HP + High ES (pushing life is priority and scales ES as well via Foulborn Ghostwrithe
    • Block via Tempest Shield + As The Mountain ect.
    • Max Res scaling w/ Rare Jewels + Nomadic Teachings + Sanctuary + Topaz Flask/ Ruby Flask / Sapphire Flask w/ gain charge when hit prefix + use when full enchant
  • Giga Late FoulBorn Ghostwrithe
    • Everything from the above section using premium cost options
    • Purity of Fire Sublime Vision(30% taken as fire) + Watchers Eye(20% taken as fire) Lethal Pride (Rakiata Tempered by War)(50% taken as fire) = Efficient 90% Fire res w/ only needing fire resistance. Can forgo all lightning/cold resistance investment
    • The new Shrine Belt with Massive Shrine for Big AoE & Life Scaling
    • Block via Forbidden Flesh & Flame w/ Bastion of Hope OR Block Large Clusters

Gear Stat Priorities?

  1. Chaos + Elemental Resistance capping (atleast 75 75 75 75)
  2. Life + Scaling(flat life / %life / strength throughout gear & jewels)
  3. Energy Shield Scaling (flat ES / %increased max es / strength / intelligence) (NOT IMPORTANT at all FOR foulborn Ghostwrithe because this item sets ES value based on life)
  4. Cast Speed on Rings / Amulet / Jewels (Self Cast Version ONLY)
  5. Crit Multi on Amulet / Jewels / Rings(Scorn Essence)
  6. Abyssal Sockets + Abyssal jewels with Life/Multi/Energy Shield/Cast Speed
  7. Uniques Recommended for various setups
  8. Every Gear Tab will have some written explanation for how to craft various gear pieces, if there is no explanation on a gear piece generally that means buying is recommended via the buy list

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Insane scaling to min-max all league

How it Plays

Customize how YOU like it

Energy Blade Inquisitor can make virtually any hit based spell Uber viable due to extremely strong damage scaling skeleton. The tree can easilly have around 5-15 passives moved around depending on what spell you like the most, here are some examples:

  • Area Spell: Swap Life/DPS nodes for AoE scaling wheels.
  • Brand Spell: Swap Life/DPS nodes for Runebinder + Brand Cluster
  • Spark: Swap witch pathing to go through center next to Duration wheel and grab proj speed clusters(spark will really excel late game min-max with acceleration shrine)
  • No AoE skills, go for full DPS/Life Tree as Shown in PoB

After changing a few passives for spell you want simply swap 1-2 supports based on which spell you would like to play with. Most skills only need to swap 1 support, here are some examples:

  • Channeling Skill: swap Spell Echo Support for Infused Channelling Support
  • Area Cascade Spell: Swap Increased Critical Strikes Support for Awakened Spell Cascade Support
  • Projectile Skill: Swap Increased Critical Strikes Support for Pierce Support

Don't overthink it too hard, just try swapping various support gems and find what works best for the type of playstyle you would like to achieve.

  • What Bandit?
    • Early: Alira

  • What Pantheon?
    • Early: Brine + Ralakesh
    • Late: Solaris + Tukohama
  • Where are spectres found? Trade via searching the exact "perfect" corpse name OR farming Ritual.
  • Is this Build Okay to go straight into maps?
    • If you get foulborn Ghostwrithe absolutely as you dont kill have your hp pool when utilizing that item
    • If no foulborn it will be quite squishy with overkill damage for entering maps, its recommended to respec some damage investment into defenses if going straight for maps, I personally recommend doing a couple sanctums to snag some nice gear upgrades before going to maps.

What, Why & How do the Spectres Survive?

  • "Perfect Spirit of Fortune" (totem spectre)
    • Lucky Lightning Damage (30% more damage)
    • Wrath Aura (20% more damage + Lightning Pen Watchers Mod Option)
  • "Perfect Pain Artist"
    • 30% Crit Multi Ally Buff
    • Zealotry Aura(15% more Damage + 40% spell crit chance Zealotry Pen Watcher Mod Option)
  • Why?
    • These spectres straight up double our damage only requiring 4-6 sockets on gear and have fairly consistent survivability with little to no management outside of setting them up once.
  • How do the Spectres Survive?
    • Supports such as Meat Shield Support Elemental Army Support & Minion Life Support give the spectres a fairly high baseline EHP without any specific minion investment
    • Automation + Convocation Gives them some consistent regen while moving them out of danger to our location
    • With the foulborn Ghostwrithe version of the build Pious Path will also give them lingering consecrated ground regen(6% roughly) making them even more tanky
    • These spectres are NOT immortal however most content they will have solid survivability and I believe the damage is just too good to pass up on.
