Build Overview

This is a leveling and league start guide for the Glacial Cascade Miner Elementalist. This is the build that I'll be starting in 3.28 Mirage League. My intent is to complete all challenges and experience the entire new endgame on a single build, and this is in my opinion the perfect build to do that.

The build provides very high damage right from the start, so it never struggles in terms of DPS, even while rushing to the endgame with terrible gear. The auto-targeting big area of effect combined with freeze provides a good layer of safety, despite the build's low survivability.

Below you will find the progression breakdown with instructions for each stage, from level 1 to the end game setup. Make sure to read the description in each Equipment, Passive Tree and Skills variant, as they contain very important information that will explain how to progress with this build.

How to craft the Helmet

Depending on how good you want it, you will need anywhere from 20 to 100 divines

Step 1

Get ilvl 84 Archdemon crown and add shaper influence to it with shaper's exalted orb

Step 2

Spam Essence of Horror until you hit Trap and Mine Damage support. If you hit Hypothermia support, you can still finish the craft and use it yourself or sell it, but ideally you want Hypothermia Imbued on your Glacial Cascade of the Fissure, so Trap and Mine Damage support is the better suffix to get.

If you fill in the third suffix you have to annul it (1/3 chance to succeed) or if it's an another shaper modifier, you can use orb of dominance for a 50/50 to remove it, and elevate the Trap and Mine Damage modifier.

Step 3

Once you have The Essence Mod + Trap and Mine Damage on the suffix and one empty suffix and one empty prefix - craft Suffixes can't be changed and Harvest reforge Crit. This will guarantee +1%/+2%/+3% crit. If you don't hit what you want, you can sell it and start over, or settle for however much crit you want.

Step 4

Cheapest:

Craft +1 AoE gems on the prefix.

Medium:

Craft "Suffixes can't be changed" (use Wild Bristle Matron beast craft if you have all suffixes filled, it can only add "Suffixes can't be changed"). Use veiled Chaos. Craft +1 Zombie as a block before unveiling. Unveil +2 AoE gems.

You have about 1/10 chance that veiled chaos will fill all prefixes and if you miss the +2 AoE you have to lucky annul or start over.

Expensive:

With suffixes done, craft "Suffixes Can't be Changed" and spam Exalt + Annul until you hit Increased Area of Effect support. Recraft "suffixes can't be changed" every time you Annul it. Always exalt first before annuling to reduce the chances of annuling the metacraft.

After hitting the AoE support, make sure to craft "Suffixes Can't be Changed" if it's not still on the item, and use Veiled Exalt. It will remove one prefix and add a veiled modifier. If it didn't remove the AoE and you have another open prefix - block +1 zombie and unveil. If you get +2 AoE you are done, just craft life or armour/es on the last prefix if it's empty. If Veiled Exalt removed AoE - repeat the Exalt + Annul process until you get it again.

Changelog

Important: I've updated the passive tree to include the Volatile Mines notable and the small mine detonation speed passives. This is important to combat getting capped at our mine limit due to high mine throwing speed and additional mine detonations, which make the mines stick around for longer (that's a bad thing). You can pay attention to the mine count in your buff bar. If you keep reaching the maximum limit, you either need more mine detonation speed or less mine throwing speed. You can replace mine throwing speed on your amulet for crit multi, replace rare helmet for a Heatshiver etc. to combat this as well. This matters mostly whenever you stand still and just hold down your button, spamming mines to burst down bosses.
