Build Overview

Welcome to the Plant Daddy Leveling Build Guide. This build enables one of the smoothest campaign clears available in Path of Exile 2. We get our main skill Entangle right away at level 1, and use it all the way to the pinnacle bosses in the endgame. If you're new to the game, or just want an easy time crusing through everything - this is the build for you.

The real beauty of the build comes from our second ascendancy Forced Outcome. Since this guarantees a crit on every cast, we can auto trigger Thunderstorm with Cast on Critical to permanently water our plants - outrageously buffing their damage. For bosses who might actually survive a hit, we use the even stronger plants Thrashing Vines to make quick work of them.

Let's learn how to put this together so you can dominate!

Regex: "y: (r|m)" "\d+% i.+mov|ph.*da|ell.*ge$|^\+.*l sp.*ls$|^\+.*al sp.*ls$|spiri|st spe|\d.+life" "s: (am|ri|be|wa|st|gl|boo|bod|he|fo)"

Copy and paste this into vendor's search bars (including the quotations!) to highlight the best possible gear.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Giga Clear
  • "1" Button Build
  • Ranged Playstyle
  • Lots of Crowd Control
  • Defense is Gear Dependent

Build Variants

This is the setup for the very start of the game. We won't have anything fully online here, so we'll take advantage of skills like Volcano, Frost Bomb and Bonestorm to carry us through the beginning.

Act 1 Gear

It is critical to get a good weapon in the early game. Use the regex above to search the vendors every time you go back to town. Ideally in Act 1 you'll have at least +1 or +2 to all spells or physical spells, with a decent chunk of spell damage. Try to stack Cold Resistance for the Act 1 Boss, and make sure you take the Sapphire Charm from your King of the Mists quest reward.

Hint: Sometimes the vendors sell very good items, paste this into their search bar whenever you're back in town to see if there's anything godly to buy (include the quotations): "y: (r|m)" "\d+% i.+mov|ph.*da|ell.*ge$|^\+.*l sp.*ls$|^\+.*al sp.*ls$|spiri|st spe|\d.+life" "s: (am|ri|be|wa|st|gl|boo|bod|he|fo)"

Note: Instead of a staff, you can use a Wand + Offhand looking for the same stats - Spell or Physical levels, Spell Damage and Cast Speed.

Weapon / Offhand / Amulet Offensive Stats

  • + Physical Spell Levels and/or All Spell Skill Levels
  • Spell / Physical Spell Power
  • Damage as Extra Lightning (to apply Shock)
  • Cast Speed
  • Critical Strike Chance / Damage (more important later on than now)

Defensive Stats

  • Energy Shield / Armour
  • Life
  • Resistances
  • Movement Speed

Act 1 Gems & Rotation

Quick Summary

Skill/Spirit Gem Cut & Support Order

Volcano supported by Burgeon I & Controlled Destruction.

Note: Swap to Bonestorm supported by Burgeon I & Controlled Destruction at Level 14 with your first Skill Gem Level 5 from killing The Executioner.

Entangle supported by Unleash & Brutality I.

Note: If you have sources of Damage as Extra on gear, use Rapid Casting I instead of Brutality I.

Contagion supported by Swift Affliction I.

Ravenous Swarm supported by Corrosion & Escalating Poison.

Trash Rotation

1. Contagion on the lowest HP monster -> Entangle.

Boss Rotation

2. Channel Volcano (will be Bonestorm once you hit Level 14).

Full Explanation

  • Cut Entangle with your first skill gem. Support it with Unleash first, and Brutality I second. Unleash throws more spells which gives us better coverage, and Brutality I is a significant damage boost with no downside unless we have sources of damage as extra. If you have that, instead use Rapid Casting I to throw the spells faster, or Zenith I if you have excellent mana regeneration.
  • Cut Contagion with your second skill gem. Throw this on a low HP mob and then hit them with Entangle or Volcano to delete the entire room. Support it with Swift Affliction I if you have extras, but prioritize supports for Entangle and Volcano first.
  • Very early on Volcano is our main boss damage dealer. Level it up and support it with Burgeon I and Controlled Destruction to gain more damage the longer you channel it.
  • Optional Early Game Damage Boost
    • Cut Frost Bomb and drop it off cooldown on bosses for an extra DPS boost if you have extra skill gems. You will drop this entirely once you get Bonestorm.
  • Optional Speedrunning Tactic
    • Put any Changeling Talisman in your second weapon set and cut Pounce. This will let you jump around the battlefield. Not needed at all if you instead just want to walk around and kill enemies with plants instead to keep your XP high.
  • After you kill the King in the Mists you receive +30 Spirit and a Level 4 Spirit Gem. Use this to cut Ravenous Swarm and support it with Corrosion and Escalating Poison. This gives you an Armour Break on Elites and Bosses if you stand near them - a big damage boost!
  • After you kill the Executioner you receive a Level 5 Skill Gem. Use this to drop Volcano and cut Bonestorm when you reach level 14, and support it with Burgeon I and Controlled Destruction. Channel it to full power then unleash it to Kamehameha big targets into oblivion. We use this until we get Thrashing Vines.

How it Plays

This is the rotation after you get plants fully up and running (at the end of Act 3).

  1. Run forward and cast Entangle to make enemies chase you and step on your plants. They have no chance to survive.
  2. Manually cast Thunderstorm on your plants during Elites and Bosses until it auto casts from Cast on Critical.
  3. Use Thrashing Vines on Elites and Bosses (weave them between Entangle and Thunderstorm).
    1. DO NOT SPAM Thrashing Vines! ITS WAY LESS DPS AND DRAINS YOUR MANA! IF YOU DO THIS I WILL CALL THE POLICE!

That's it! Easy mode.

Guys go buy "Vestige of Darkness, Tenebrous Crown", its cheap, you can blind enemies in your presence and you can also spawn a mob that do physical damage to enemies.

Repulsion is also a 90th level requirement and I can't find anything less in trade. So, pretty useless for leveling.

I'm still in the campaign (just starting act 3), but he has an endgame version of this build linked at the top I believe. Maybe that might have what you're looking for?
